Venture is garbage

Strictly balance wise. Gameplay wise, best hero they’ve released in a VERY long time.

But balance wise? idk what freak of nature decided this hero needed NERFS on their launch. But lord have mercy.

Obviously, very early impressions but also combined with impressions from the trial that is still pretty much the same:

  • Does not have the damage NOR the survivability to even remotely justify the fact they have the effective range of 2 meters.
  • Gets ABSOLUTELY dog walked by CC.
  • Gets absolutely dog walked by range
  • Their dig takes so long that people can quite literally burst you from 200 hp in the middle of your dig wind up animation
  • It’s so long anyone with a regular human reaction time can cancel it completely
  • The ult, same problem from the trial, gets destroyed by any terrain
  • The drill dash camera makes it look like you’re pushing through glue, idk what it is. It feels disgustingly clunky

The only explanation I can think of is that if they nerfed a mid character, very few people would complain about their day one competitive debut.

I’m glad. At least Venture has a clear niche so it’ll be easier to make changes to them.

She just looks like garbage. Living in a dumpster. But pretty strong in game now.

There’s genuinely nothing remotely strong about this hero… idk what you’re going on about.

You’re better off playing most of the other DPS.

She just got released let people learn how to play her first and we’ll see

oh absolutely it’s early impression.

But I think I’m seeing things that can’t physically be fixed through just sheer playtime on the hero.

They simply do not have the survivability to live at their effective range of 3 feet, and the damage isn’t even all their either unless you manage to somehow wombo combo someone, land everything perfectly, and somehow escape with no one looking at you.

I feel like you don´t have to have a good aim - just walk to the squishy and shoot the floor and than run underground.

??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

What? lmfao.

They didn’t really nerf them, just shifted their damage to damage over time instead. So basically you just have to track better with your abilities.

They’re really not that bad at all. And most people are still learning them tbf

That’s still a nerf. No one is going to be hitting 100% of their abilities.

There’s certain things you can tell that aren’t fixable through playtime. Like the egregiously long dig wind up, that basically forces you to dig while hiding or pre-digging every engagement. There’s very little playstyle difference you can have because, digging in front of anyone is a death sentence if they have working hands.

Or the fact the ult just doesn’t function half the time due to terrain. If you’re on a car or a box? Doesn’t work. If it’s even SLIGHTLY blocked by something? Doesn’t work.

Or how they get absolutely dog walked by CC / range heroes.

Yeah I don’t see it:

  • they can still delete most characters in less than a second with good timing and animation cancels.

  • They can deal ~230 damage quite quickly without even using an ability,

  • they still have a combo that deals 300 damage that is quite easy to do.

  • Sure they are short range ~15m but they can gap close very efficiently with their movement

Can’t really make a judgement when they have been out for less than 5 hours (in comp at least)

They’re a dive hero that can combo any 250 hp character with a shot → drill → shot sequence that also juggles the target.

If they can play smart and get in range, or drill to you from an off angle, it’s almost instant death.

Good. More Venture for me!

That´s literaly what I did, when she was playable that weekend, lol.

She is good with bunker comps. Stick to your team and push together.

Against human beings of any remote decency at the game… they can’t.

Just bringing up damage numbers means very little without context. You can make that same argument for 99% of the heroes in the game. Most of the combos require drill dash, which again… hero with effective range of 2 feet letting their final ability be their dig?

The dig with a massively long wind up? Unless the person you’re comboing is massively out of position, you’ll quickly be punished for using drill dash offensively.

What gap closing do they have that doesn’t leave them vulnerable directly after?

The combo takes so long that no competent player is dying to that lmfao.

You dig underground, immediately use dash stay underground the whole length of the burrow. Pop out and have dash ready to use as an escape in <1 second and extra shields for more survivability.

If course doing this means you can’t use dash in your combo, but you can use a melee instead that + the aoe damage from popping out is enough to kill 250 hp.

You have to use your brain a little bit instead of just mindlessly pew - pewing.

Yep silly people are saying they’re bad when you’re an invulnerable tank for the most part

saying you have to use your brain… whilst talking about a combo that would take so long that again…

No competent human, is dying to that.
