Uninstalled OW Due To MMR

Sorry for one of these, but I have to get this out there.

I have never in my life played an online shooter with a worse matchmaker.
This matchmaker is using MMR to rig the games for whatever purposes, and I simply can not play it anymore.

I just had a game where both of our healers had 1500 healing through two rounds.
I just had a stretch of games, actually, with players SO bad.

I know the entire thing was created BY the matchmaker on purpose to force me down to 50%

I’ve seen it for years, and you can’t even try to convince me otherwise. Know why? Because NO other game has ever had this. It’s OW’s special MMR, and it is the worse of all time.

But it goes further. It’s the battlepass. It’s the price of skins. It’s the 5v5, which I hate. You try to play this game, and it’s the least satisfying experience of all time. Which is ironic, because Blizz wanted to control everything, profiles, win rates, matchmaking, in some dystopian effort to make players “feel good.”

Know what feels good? When there’s no algorithm trying to feed us fake games, to purposely screw us over every time we win a couple games.

The way I see it, they over stepped their bounds, betrayed the gamer’s trust by trying to control the matches with MMR and giving us FAKE Ranks. Doing everything they can to keep us on the hamster wheel, they’ve gone too far. I don’t trust them, and I hate their MMR system so much that it literally ruins my day, every single day, ON PURPOSE.

So. Once and for all. I’m done.

Uninstalled Overwatch, and just because Blizz is a horrible company for making this matchmaker, I uninstalled WoW too.

Someone at the VERY TOP… pay attention. OW matchmaker will drive people away from your company as a whole.

I’m a new player since October 2022 and I’ve been playing the game rather regularly. I’m not a pro player of course and my performance cannot be compared to more experienced players, but I do my best to get the job done. When matches are balanced I feel I’ve had an impact on the match, but since season 2 begun it seems matches have become roflstomps, most of the time with my team on the losing side. I honestly don’t think it’s just a matter of “getting good”, something is off.

If you don’t pay, the battle pass rewards are garbage. And I can still be ok with that, being the game free to play. What I really hate is locking heroes behind the pass. Unlock Kiriko at lvl 55? Unlock Ramattra at lvl 45? Really? Maybe provide alternative ways to unlock the heroes, like hard enough challenges? And if you fail to win those challenges than it’s fair to get them at the right battle pass level.

I believe it is failing miserably in doing so. The matchmaking system is not even try to ”rig” the matches in an unnatural way to cap your victory rate to 50%, it’s not working at all. If I play 10 games, I expect to win 4-6 games, while this matchmaker puts me in 9 lost and 1 won roflstomps.

This is honestly a design choice I do not understand either. Just let us see our real rank, this will not make the community more or less toxic than it already is right now, if that is Blizzard’s concern.

And that is sad, it would mean that this is just like a mobile phone cash grab game. I always wanted to try Overwatch, I was happy to get my occasion when it went free to play, as I said I managed to have a lot of fun, but if this is the state of things then it’s the worst welcome for new players like me.

Yeah Seasons 2 seem much worse , I have only 50h of playtime this season. I had 4-6 x time in S1.

I wont uninstall but I’m playing less and less.

These lines right here, I had 20-30 guys I could reliably play with in season 0 which went down to about 15/20 season 1, a week into season 2 we couldn’t even get a 6 stack, once I hit diamond I stopped playing too. There is literally one guy that plays now. Those ranges from 2 GMs 3 masters and the rest diamond/plats. Personally I’ll be back once a rolling change is made, or season 3 to try it out, whichever comes first.

Driving all skill ranges away, I can only imagine how bad low plat-bronze are.

See you next week :wave:t4:

if they didnt do the weird artificial decay at the end of the season and just made MMR and SR match, observed “match quality” would be so much better.

Ive been playing to get my support back to diamond, and while it hasnt been going poorly, its annoying that its taking as long as it is (im plat 1 right now but havent played comp in a few days)

Then the next day you win 9-1.

Let’s just remember that we play against other human beings, so if you lose 9, someone is winning 9.

The way MMR is designed, you just crush teams one day, which is no fun at all, and the other day you are crushed.

Where’s the challenge?

How the hell did you come to this conclusion buddy?

The average person has a really astoundingly bad understanding of numbers and statistics. It’s why things like gambler’s fallacy and hot-hand fallacy have been created to explain these phenomenon, NPC’s are incredibly bad at establishing independent probability.

I have an advanced math degree.

Now in all honesty. I know it’s not how things work. The team is composed by 5 people and is constantly changing.

There are thousands of games every day.

What I meant in a poor way is that not everyone can lose 9 games all the time, since teams are composed by the same number of people.

Get that blizzard Popsicle out of your mouth

oOoOo i don’t have one, but can i get the green one??? Pwettty pweassssee~~

Very ironic coming from a guy who cares so much about skill ranking in a video game.

OP is joining the ranks of people quitting competitive gaming (which will only continue to grow) and levelling up in the real world while you spend your days playing the virtual dopamine slot machines and assigning far too much value to your seat at the casino, all while wasting additional times on the forums to write crap like this to fend off any cognitive dissonance that your lifestyle has brought about.

Take your own advice.

Do your enemy DPS look like this in replay in the games you felt were forced losses?

lol do you not see the level of irony in your own statement? Let me help you with it:

Players are quitting, coping, complaining and getting insanely triggered because they can’t handle a VIDEO GAME.

Get it together dude and grow up.

Who said people can’t handle it? Maybe they just see it for being manipulative and exploitative and they’re tired of it, and they see much better options to invest their time in the real world. Why would you keep playing if you realize MM is rigged which takes whatever small amount of fun remained in the game away?

Only one coping is you, writing essays day after day on this forum about why comp is great and ranking system works fine, because you NEED to believe the thousands of hours you’ve sunk into gaming wasn’t completely wasted.

… . … … …the title of this post and content(among many others) says it all.
Are you for real dude? yikes.

And they’re seeing it this way because of an extreme lack of understanding on THEIR part and it’s sucking their enjoyment out of it; in other words, they’re doing this to themselves without even realizing it.

And guess what, NO ONE but a select few of us are actually trying to deal with this insane issue FOR the benefit of the Player by addressing it head on and engaging with the responses.

What a silly assumption.

You don’t seem to understand the difference between “not being able to handle” and “no longer care to waste time on.”

Here’s another example: I am going to stop replying to you, not because you’ve bested me in an argument (i.e. I can’t handle you), but because you’re so dense and low IQ as to be not worth any more of my time.

Have fun in your quest to continue fanboying and defending the closed-source matchmaking algorithm of a $60B company, I’m sure the shareholders appreciate your efforts here on the forum.

The funny part is when some whisteblower or hacker reveals undeniable proof that it’s rigged, whether in one year or ten years, you’ll be utterly crushed. The rest of us that moved on will just chuckle.

7 years so far and I’ll be casually counting.

And if I am indeed proven wrong, I’ll own up to it just like I have in the past because I don’t have a loser’s mentality.

haha yeah. okay dude lol.

I’ll be seeing you, and the rest of you, from the Top while you chuckle from underneath me. Stay delusional kid. The choice is yours.

Keep up that loser’s mentality. It’s not my fault you have one.

Again, the choice is yours.

Top of the SR rankings maybe, but absolute bottom at every metric that matters in the real world (fitness, money, relationships, mental fortitude, positively impacting others and leaving a legacy). See the thing I’ve learned after all these decades playing games is that there’s an inverse relationship between how well someone’s life is going and how much they care about the virtual world of competitive gaming, it’s an escapist’s dream drug. And nobody needs escapism more than the most bottom-of-the-barrel losers.

Stay delusional kid.

Peace!
