Okay. I used the word earlier and took it down and changed it b/c i didn’t want to play at your low level, but this time, it’s quite appropriate.
What a stupid assumption of me, which makes me surmise you’re actually speaking of yourself.
It’s quite evidentially clear that YOU just can’t handle it and now you’re coping EXTREMELY hard. You talk about leaving a legacy? With that mentality of yours?
Exactly, it’s not fun on being on the winning side of a roflstomp either. It feels like a cheap victory and some people are suffering the same bad experience as I am being rolled on by more skilled players.
About skill, the point is that I accept to be a noob at this game, and it’s ok if I face a team of champions and they crap on me. This is not damaging my ego or something, especially not over a videogame: they are stronger than me, that’s the state of things and that’s only natural. What I find unnatural is that I ALWAYS have to face champions. Even if I am to try and improve myself, it’s like I try and face Tyson in his prime in my first pro match: one uppercut and I’m down, and what did I learn? That probably I’ve to choose my opponents more carefully.
Just my two cents, not trying to get in argument with anyone here. Especially since I saw a very toxic post that probably does more damage to the game than a bad matchmaker, this too not the perfect welcome for a new player like me that just wants to enjoy the game.
P.s.: I’m not uninstalling, just play a bit less and taking things more easy until things get a bit better, or when I can join with my friends for a brawl sometimes.
You’ve got a great head on your shoulder. Your opponents are only seemingly ‘champions’. They’re just relatively higher skilled than you.
There’s a lot to learn in this game and it should not be underestimated.
Competitive is a beast of a game mode and it is NOT easy. In fact, Competitive is very difficult.
If you keep grinding away at Competitive and learn this game through Competitive as your only means of playing this game like I did, know that Competitive is NOT easy.
If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t recommend it. It was very taxing and debilitating. I would’ve played QP more and grouped up more and learned the game this way and then dabble with Competitive matches until I see progress with them. Once I see progress with Competitive, I would then slowly transition my way out of QP and into Competitive.
Alright, so Competitive doesn’t care that I’m a noob and still insists on making me face people of higher skill level than mine? this should mean that MMR is a lie. Remember, I’m not trying to argue, just making devil’s advocate here to try and understand.
And that’s the problem in my personal experience: I only started Competitive in the last week, I probably just made 20 or so matches and have been ranked Silver 1 (told you, I’m a noob xD). The fact is that I’m getting this roflstomps experiences in QP too.
But I’ll give you this tough, I noticed that things get a bit better when I’m in my group of friends (we are three, where one is support, the other is mainly DPS with Soldier or Torb, and I adapt to the situation).
This is really good. You have to remember the kinds of Players that are engaging in Competitive. Most of them know more about this game than you do and that simple fact alone is enough for them to be higher skilled than you even if you’re able to aim.
Competitive doesn’t care that you’re a noob.
Competitive only cares about RANKING the Player to their appropriate rank determined by their performance in game, in real time.
That’s because your team knows what they’re doing, right? Now, when you solo queue, you’ll be matched with a variety of all kinds of Players in queue, of which, you have no control over. Each match is important to the Player Profile with how the Matchmaker identifies and determines your level of skill and appropriate rank.
haha Silver 1 ain’t NOOB. It just means you’ve got better knowledge, game sense, and mechanics than those under Silver 1.
Conversely, those above your rank (silver 1) have better knowledge, game sense, and mechanics than you.
Ngl, this morning I had a 23/20 KD ratio on Casino Royale. Very embarrassing, however, I was playing extremely aggressive, which was my fault to begin with.
I wouldn’t even be that mad if it was one game. People have bad games I get it, but the fact it was 5 games in a row? And then they’re gonna tell me the matchmaker is working as intended???
In all my games as a dps so far, i have had 45-3 or in that ballpark, 16-20k damage, i peel for my supports, and i usually kill enemy supports. Wanna know my tanks i got for 5 games now? 10-16, 5-14, 3-20, 7-8, 8-8… insta dead tanks who dont play for the team and mitigate damage. The enemy tanks usually were 30-2, 20-10, 32-8, etc, tank diff, literally. My supports worked overtime, me and the other dps were usually kicking the other dps butts. Bad tanks ruin this game, literally. The matchmaker needs to be fixed. Done with this bs
The match maker can work as intended while the players have 0 synergy with each other.
Also, at ranks plat and below its very hard to find that synergy.
when i play this game (at those ranks, which i currently and usually am at, at plat) i have a team based mindset, but ultimately i’m playing to provide the biggest impact i can.
When youre solo queuing you either have to be able to pull your weight, or enable your best team mates into pulling theirs.
This game is triggering. This doesn’t happen to me in competitive chess or any other competitive games I play or have played. The problem is we don’t know how ranked even works. You just blame players, but there is something seriously wrong with the match making and rating.
There is no winning in forced 50%. I only play comp now to farm points for gold weapons. You don’t even know what your actual rank is in this game. It’s nonsense.
Don’t worry. The game underestimate your rank after 7 matches so you feel progression.
It’s natural to see your self going up a few tiers or even divisions after the placement matches. Silver 1 is actually pretty good for placement matches. Keep it going
Just getting back after my daily session of quick play. Played more or less 20 matches: 95% of matches were stomps, just a couple were tight victory (good ones too). The stomps were always us getting destroyed.
I also got my praise rank (or whatever is called in English, I’m using the italian localization ) demoted from 2 to 1, probably for quitting but I honestly don’t care at this point.
I just want to enjoy this game, but not like this.
Coca-Cola is required by law to provide an ingredient list. Not the exact proportions, but everything that is in there in the relative proportions. This keeps the consumer informed without divulging their patents.
Imagine if Blizzard was required to do the same — divulge every variable used in the MM algorithm. Not exactly how, not the algorithm itself, just what all the variables are. That itself would be eye opening.
Imagine if there’s an MM variable for whether you bought a skin recently?
Except the top players, too, have been “tarnishing the game’s reputation” with the same complaints about matchmaking for years. And it’s only gotten worse, to the point that Blizzard’s own press statements are telling us we have players on our teams way above and below our ranks. But I guess the likes of Seagull and Flats are just coping, too, huh?
