Why the sudden influx of report action?
I didn’t get any notifications of action for months… or I can’t even remember how long. Then I got two in as many days. The other day I typed in a report, “Is this thing on?”
Anyway I asked my group mates if they see the same and one of them got 3 notifications in 2 days.
SO, what’s going on? They hired a moderator? My heart is telling me we are being trolled and gaslit, it’s a blizz strat to make us feel like action is being taken.
Or was the notification broken and they were taking action all along? Any word from the OW team related to this?

I reported someone in comp for win trading and got a message saying they took action like the next day.

Of all the things OW2 needs, nothing is more needed than in-game moderation. So, I’m not complaining but I am too extremely skeptical to be excited about it yet.

There have been a lot more complains about people getting banned recently so it does seems to work.
I suspect ban requirements may have been reduced to less reports and the system is probably just automated.

I hope it’s not just that bc false reporting is also rampant, but I tend to believe that over actual mods following up.

They turned the defense matrix bot back on and cranked it to 11. Moderation would be nice, but this isn’t moderation.

Out of the 100s of reports i’ve done over the months i only got one notification today. This game is so friggin sad.
The auto-reporting feature is in overdrive. Lots of players are getting chat bans for basic stuff because groups or teams are trying to ratio them with mass reporting. It’s ugly and wrong and dystopian.
I have a question about reporting:
Is it better to leave a “comment” when reporting, or does it affect how likely Blizzard will take action?

If there are things like off yourself etc typing in will get the report looked at.

I think a comment only matters if you file a ticket. Other than that, in-game reports are automated. As for the forums, who knows? Probably a comment helps since it seems people actually read those.
More like this. I haven’t been reporting anyone for days / weeks and I get a “TY for reporting” message every time I log in

My bet is on the broken notifications / bug. I doubt this has anything to do with me reporting people months ago…
Yup, got like 5 in the past couple days, haven’t seen any for months before that, maybe it was broken? not sending out notifications when it should have? Maybe they actually have real people investigating these reports…
Nah. I think they were just tweaking it to where it now shows you the things that were said during the report. I used to get pretty regular thanks for reporting messages, then they went away for like a month, then Defense Matrix was back in overdrive recently and the notifications started coming back in again.
Comments help when people try to appeal a mute/ban because they’ll go to the reports that were made against the player and be like “it says here you got reported for x, y, and z, which are all reportable offenses so no”
I am getting them every time I log in now. I am also not saying anything in text or voice so I am less likely to get reported myself lol.

Reporting is stupid when you can mute and turn off chat.
