And it doesn’t get much better after that either. Why is there so much hesitancy to nerf her? She’s clearly out of control. Do we really need to wait at least a month to even attempt to fix this?

Hot take but I think that’s fine. Tracer is one of the more skillful dps and should see a lot of play in high ranks.
Tracer still be meta noticing queue times going up and up.

id rather have 10 seasons of tracer dive, then most other metas
tracer was viable in almost every meta from overwatch 1’s season 1 to 9 (this is pre brig) and it was seen as the golden age of the game
the moment they start trying to switch things around to nerf dive, they create boring metas
such as the current mauga mirror meta we are seeing in the OWCS (and as i understand it in top 500 play as well)
i understand people want things to be different but different can be worse, its not always going to be better
the moment they nerfed dive in og overwatch we got double sniper and goats. they keep doing this exact same thing over and over
they are doomed to repeat history because they cant accept that dive is overwatch’s best meta

Not sure if you are aware, but tracer is almost always played to some extent by top players. This is regardless of the meta and doesn’t revolve around about her individual balance state as a hero. Tracer has an insanely high skill ceiling and very good synergy with dive / coordination. There is a lot of nuance to her being high pick rate for top players, much more than just balance and her being picked often by the very top players does not necessarily correlate with the hero being overtuned.
There is a difference between complete dominance of a centralizing and stale game compared to generally being the pampered child that’s always favored to usually be good no matter the season. Tracer has historically always been one of the BEST heroes in the entire game regardless of Meta.
However, she’s always had to share the spotlight with situational picks and characters that usually brought her utilization in top 500 to at most 10-20%. Right now she’s like 50% of all top 500 roster positions.
That’s too much centralizing dominance for upper tiers.
I remember when this forum used to not just hate on supports, but OP DPS heroes as well like tracer just as equally (and even McCree). Whatever happened to hating all OP heroes equally?
To be fair to tracer, she felt a little too difficult to get value in lower rank in most other previous seasons of OW2. But why are we so quick to complain when supports like ana is meta, but ignore tracer?
Back in OW1, ana and tracer were very strong. And half of the community were okay with that, while the other half cried for nerfs (like they do with any S-tier hero).
Now in OW2, we don’t tolerate ana being in S-tier but we’re okay with letting tracer off the hook? Why not let both heroes be S-tier? Is it because ana is less healthy in 5v5?
Most tanks hate ana because she make sthe game unfun for them as they suck as no healing more than DPS or supports, but most people hate tracer because she’s annoying to hit for all roles equally.
But is it really the tanks though that’s complaining? I feel like it’s actually the DPS players pretending to care about the tanks.
Whenever I play tank, ana is only one of the annoyances but isn’t even that high on the list. I personally hate facing sombra when I’m playing sigma/orisa since she can just cancel my ult with right click while invisible. I hated bastion when he used to be OP and meta (he’s fine now). Sojourn was so annoying as a tank too when she was a lot stronger. And don’t get me started on zenyatta.
So ana even if I find her annoying sometimes, doesn’t even make it to my top 5 annoyances in the game whenever I play tank. But maybe I see ana differently because I used to main her?

Well, you are cherrypicking your experiences based upon what stops your characters.
Ana affects are more tanks with anti-heal and sleep dart than those two DPS.
I see, that makes sense. I guess some tank players are one tricks so it’s more likely for ana to annoy them more than other more “annoying” DPS heroes. I could imagine ana being annoying if you were a junker queen OTP for example, or even rammatra.
Even more reason 5v5 was a mistake for tanks. They get punished harder for being a one trick more than other roles.
i dont mind it either since i hardly run into a tracer that gives me problems… i sometimes feel sorry for tracers. had one last game that i hacked like 3 times and destroyed as sombra.
still yea its probably a my elo/rank thing since i bet she is a menace in high rank lobbies
i think it was a month ago that i ran into a tracer that just destroyed the lobby i was in but i think that was mainly a big team diff… still that tracer was very good
this then becomes a personal problem
the only people that hate ana are the ppl that main heroes that ana counters. if those ppl played better heroes they wouldnt have this problem.
Bad players dislike ana, she honestly isn’t anywhere near a problem if handled correctly. Tank players often mindlessly run in and take a bunch of damage while antid and die as a result. They simply blame their death on anti instead of realizing it was because of their terrible decision making, positioning, and timing. It’s really as simple as just chilling out and playing defensively / using cover to minimize damage taken until anti wears off.
It doesn’t matter what tank you play. Tanks are THE biggest sponges for damage and the most healing.
- JQ’s healing effect is neutered by anti-healing. She has a long and lengthy self heal and no defenses. Healing is her life line.
- Doomfist block = free sleep or bionade
- Reinhardt swinging or charging is a free bionade or sleep dart.
- Winston dives in puts bubble down, then gets his entire primal rage or bubble duration neutered by a good sleep dart application.
- Ramattra = free bioande or sleep dart during ult or nemesis form.
- Roadhog/Mauga have no self heal, so they are hugely dependent upon breather / self heal to stay up in a fight. Both being gigantic to get affected by sleep dart.
- Even Orisa doesnt’ want to get bionaded since all she can do is mitigate damage. She thrives and even stays alive because she can reduce so much dmg she stays alive through sheer healing from supports.
- Sigma has so much grasp/shield up time and range play its hard to abause CC against him. Dva has risk of absorbing on defense matrix, but is still a super large target and thrives on healing to stay alive.
The biggest thing of all is the value versus risk. Debuffing tanks is simply the strongest value, the easiest targets to hit, and lowest risk from the rear on Ana.
Sombra’s used to be more troublesome on 5sec hack, but those days are over.
It doesn’t help that ANa is way more popular of a character than Tracer. Its possible to usually have a game without Tracer, but its almost impossible to have a game without an Ana. Blizzard has gone on record many times. Evne during the beta when Ana had next to no changes she had the highest utilization out of anyone.
How is the game balanced around low rank because there’s no nerf for Tracer? Tracer has never been good for casual players. Sombra buffs? I can see that being a thing for low rank but Tracer? Nope.
Clearly the solution is to bring back zero fall off Junkrat so he can keep her in check like back in the day
