Title says it all. For the first time since role queue was added, top500 tank goes all the way down to Diamond 5 on PC and Plat 1 on console. I know its the least popular role, but wow thats bad. I havent touched tank since season9 but almost makes me want to start again just to get a free top 500 challenger title.

I don’t think this is possible. T500 doesn’t fill up past diamond. Check Asian leaderboards on console early season and you can see that even though there aren’t 500 players, dia 5 is still the lowest.

It’s because most tank players get admitted to a mental asylum before they finish their 50 wins to qualify for top 500.

The fact that there’s only 2 tanks per game (as opposed to 4 DPS & Supports each) might also factor into it.

It’s because tanking sucks. Not only do you get counter picked by most of the enemy team every match forcing you to counterswap a lot, but you get pretty much all the vitriolic comments. 2/15 DPS, must be a tank diff. Moira who never heals, must be a tank diff. Didn’t pick the meta tank or swap immediately to counter and gg go next tank’s throwing followed by the DPS or support making the comment actually throwing.
And even outside of the game all you hear about is giga busted tanks. And unkillable raid bosses which is more of a meme than the truth but Samito keeps hammering away. It takes a toll mentally really.
Then you have out of touch posts like this one that I’m linking. So tell me, who in their right mind would actually want to play tank right now?

i played against a top 500 rein yesterday it honestly ticked me off as im a purely unranked qp player going agianst someone whos to frekaign high ranked honestly i think they joined unranked QP to troll
I’m looking at the console top 500 now and for the Americas, nothing is lower than Diamond 1.
I don’t see it go down to platinum in any region.

Wait can we calculate how many people play tank based on that? Assuming diamond and above is 5% that means 500*(1/0.05) = 10,000 tanks on the whole ladder.

It was pretty similar in S9. Incompetence and busted MMR calculations do this.
You might not be top 500 Tank right now, but you are already among the top 500 coolest Tank players that we have.

like Lucky said, there’s only 2 tanks every game as opposed to 4 dps and and 4 supports each every game
naturally top 500 is going to take way longer to fill up for tank compared to dps and support. the disparity is kind of nuts though dps is already at masters 3 for #500 and tank still being that low is weird
pre rank reset they would’ve been in masters all season but i wouldn’t be surprised if they’re still diamond 1 at the end of the season
i just checked and the lowest tank goes down to is M5 in america, d1 in europe, and d3 in asia
