This game has way to many cheaters to take it serious anymore. Anyone who tries to argue otherwise has stockholm syndrome. This game is just an abusive money grab to line Bobby Koticks pocket book.
What a compelling argument!
This is actual facts, tho.
Or we’re high ranked players who laugh at the people calling others cheaters because the overwhelming vast majority of the time when replays are given, the player accused of cheating isn’t cheating at all and is just better than the enemy team.
There aren’t anywhere mear the level of cheaters you people like to claim there are.
Ignoring there are enough rampant cheaters on Overwatch that multiple Youtubers have numerous series dedicated to to the whole concept of reviewing videos with reported cheaters. I aim fairly confident cheating is a problem in the game if there are enough of them active that they generate enough content for Youtubers to make an actual series on the subject.
people that say there arent many cheaters dont know what cheats look like anymore.
ive said it dozens of times and I’ll say it again, if you havent already done so, please give it a cursory google, see the websites boast about their 300,000+ unique downloads, watch the demo videos, realise that you can barely tell from your plat quick play kill cams
i have never played against a cheater, though i only have 195 hours
my favourite forum thing (after pink mercy spam) has got to be people chiming in on cheating threads saying that there aren’t cheaters, without actually doing any research into what modern overwatch cheats look like
Crazy stuff! Crazy, crazy stuff
none of you will actually google it tho, so there’s no point even piping up like this. The game will continue to die because of this issue and there is nothing blizz can do. Enjoy it while it lasts
This is not relevant to the thread topic. If you have information that would help other users improve their understanding, you should share it instead of passive aggressively lashing out
I’m not allowed to post links to the websites that sell cheats, or to post demo videos, because it counts as advertising
There are too many cheaters. They just banned 250k cheaters recently.

EDIT:
Owh they posted on the official blogpost.

Combating Cheating at its Source
Cheaters are never fun to play with, and we have a zero-tolerance policy toward cheating and botting in Overwatch 2. Since Overwatch 2’s launch, we’ve detected and banned over 250,000 accounts for cheating.
this one , 100%.
Combating Cheating at its Source
[…] We’re continuously refining our anti-cheat detection and prevention systems to strengthen the game against cheating and botting. […]
I don’t like that they are not honest about this.
There is not much to refine if your system is not able to query the right functions or to query serial ports.
There is nothing you can do if you cannot verify the integrity of the system in which you run your applications.
You need to track the processes from the moment the system starts, instead of guessing what it might do by looking at it from the outside.
Cheaters will always have the upper hand if they don’t change that, and it will always be profitable to develop cheats if it stays that way.
Last month was the first month I’ve seen a cheater. It looks like they are hiring software engineers to work on anti cheat.
If u can’t beat them join them
At least 1 in every 11 matches and they’re a bit more likely to be on the enemy team because, you know, you have 4 possible slots for cheaters and they have 5. So fun.
First one you’ve noticed… you mean.
k, so me having seen “only” 2 cheaters in the past month is invalid? one of them was in FFA and one in comp, although funnily enough we won that game
sure, technically 2 is too much, should be 0 yadayada, but it’s decent
If you can’t tell, how do you know the game has a cheater problem?
- because the cheats are so cheap
- the sites brag about having hundreds of thousands of unique downloads
- people’s performance can vary DRASTICALLY like it never did years ago between games
- you can see people wall hacking if you pay enough attention, just not always from kill cams
- hundreds of thousands of accounts have been caught hacking and banned according to blizz. 250,000 accounts is a significant amount of accounts in 1 year. If there were 15 million unique players (generous) and half of them were on PC (generous) then you’d be looking at about 1/30 accounts being banned for cheating in the space of less than a year
- it would explain a multitude of issues the game has that continue to get worse
I see lower bounds at around 50$/month, upper bounds at around 180$/month with most cheats selling at around 80$/month. That’s not cheap for cheats, that’s on the more expensive side. Decent Apex Legends cheats average at around 50$/month, for example.
What cheat seller brags with “number of unique downloads”? If anything they’d brag with how many customers they have (and there I can assure you it’s not hundreds of thousands). Not once in my life have I seen a cheat seller promote how many people have downloaded his cheat. Sure you didn’t fall for a virus spreader?
Yeah, they got banned That number by itself says nothing. It could be 5 million, it could be 5. It wouldn’t say anything about how many cheaters are playing the game at any point in time.
5 million could mean their anti cheat system is incredible, 5 could mean no one gets a cheat injected into the game in the first place also when did they ban them? after they cheated for a day? for a week? for a month? for this whole year?
literally doesn’t say anything except that at least 250.000 people have been cheating at least at one point in time; is that a lot?
Ah, that one simple reason that would explain everything that is wrong with the game
well its two problems. But mainly 3… or 4… okay. w./e.
1 ) Overwatch being FREE 2 play doesnt SOLVE cheaters. but costing money would certainly provide a speedbump to cheaters. 30 bucks minimum should be the required fee for an account. If people are making alt. accounts and wanting to pay 30 dollars for each of their banned accounts, hey at least they are paying employees, the company and contributing some money back to the damages they cause!
2 ) Match maker is a dumpster fire.
As it stands today. A person is always stuck facing the first 10 matches against players that have no-miss, hyper-focused militaristic grouping that seam to be 5-man diamond players.
when instead The first 4 matches of a player should be based upon their last 3 performances and then drop it by an additional 8% lower than their performance from the last match. That way They aren’t facing a group of aimbot raidbosses with 90% accuracy rating.
