Title Edit: MMR Is Not Real Competition. Defend Your Rank

All of you that are making money utilizing your HIGH RANK to get view counts needs to get a BRAND NEW ACCOUNT with 0 history and then climb up the ranks starting from scratch SOLO QUEUE. None of this buying diamond accounts, gold accounts, masters account b.s. with garbage “unranked to GM” ridiculous videos.

If you’re really THAT good, start from scratch and prove that you’re that good in this fraudulent world of fake MMR competition matches by defending yourself, your rank, and your status. With MMR in place, I so bet that you can’t.

“I have nothing to prove to you”. You will say.

YES YOU DO.

You MUST prove to EVERYONE if you’re using your HIGH RANK status for monetary reasons. You MUST prove to EVERY single player that watches your videos that you are the best and are deserving of that view count that’s making you money. Otherwise, you’re just as fake as this so-called MMR “competitive” matchmaking system, which isn’t even REAL competition.

What? Too scared you’ll actually get dethroned from your rank by better players? You should be. That’s what REAL COMPETITION is and that’s what REAL COMPETITION does.

MMR only protects you from the BEST players by keeping them stuck and keeping you guys all high and mighty like some b.s. elitist that thinks they’re better than everyone else, when in fact, you’d easily get dethroned and THEN lose your reasons to make money off your fake ‘rank’, which you choose NOT to defend.

Just like EVERY sport (Basketball, swimming, baseball, tennis, UFC, etc.) (isn’t this game considered eSport?), it is not uncommon for the BEST TEAM/PLAYERS to be on a MASSIVE win streak and even be UNDEFEATABLE. In REAL COMPETITION, teams and players actually give genuine respect.

In REAL competition, if you’re on a massive LOSING streak, well damn, c’est la vie, that’s life and you just got beat by REAL competition. In this context, the axiom is true, “Get Good”.

Competition has ZERO room for “participation awards”.

Overwatch content creators in high ranks must defend themselves and their ranks; otherwise, this conspiracy theory is no longer a conspiracy, but an extreme, highly likely, plausibility.

The ball is in their court when it comes to this. EVERYONE has gone through the b.s. that is MMR in this fake competitive world and has PROVEN our end. It’s time THEY prove their end.

Scared? Too afraid to actually do it because then if you actually DO DERANK, you’ll lose your money making ability from your FAKE rank? I would be too.

I’ll bet you so flippin’ fast that there will be a revolution of players taking down these ‘elitist’ players that are relying on MMR to stay high up in their ranks.

MMR is destroying the optimal development of PERFORMANCE PSYCHOLOGY.

Blizzard, you should be ashamed. Stop being a sell out and REMOVE MMR. Keep it in quick play, just REMOVE IT FROM COMPETITIVE PLAY.

Edit: I have no problem with OW players making money by creating content. I actually support it very much so and believe it to be awesome that that is possible. Read edit below:

Edit: Why I’m calling on Content Creators: We need to build a stronger voice to call out the sham that is MMR. MMR is removing the essence of genuine competition and, therefore, is NOT real competition. I’m calling out content creators that have that platform to help with this cause and are even a part of the Overwatch Team itself. MMR helps high rank players (i.e. content creators) stay in high rank and makes it extremely difficult for low rank players to climb up the ranks (even though they’re getting better) and, should the low ranking player desire to rank up with new found developed game skills, they are pretty much PUSHED in the direction of BUYING a new account to essentially ‘start over’ in.

MMR is NOT ABOUT COMPETITION, it’s about MONEY and it is ruining the healthy development of Human Performance Psychology.

To effectuate change and build a loud voice for this will require one person at a time to open their eyes to see what’s really going on and then to legitimately care. If what I’m (we’re) doing will lead to that one person at a time…I’m glad to be a part of it.

Gaming is going to keep expanding throughout our current generation, our children’s generations and ALL future generations to come.

My genuine fear is that if this keeps going on and becomes the new “normal” especially for the next up and coming generations, the development of their performance psychology will greatly be debilitated and their growth completely stunted.

They’ll never reach their TRUE potential.

This isn’t some fight about my personal rank or my feelings being hurt or any of that NON-SENSE.

I have a “why” that is GREATER than myself.
and it truly is for the future of all competitive eSports in gaming.

I love this game and do not want to see it become the harbinger of destroying true potential, rather, I hope it to become the game to unlock and release one’s true potential in their own respective performance psychology.

EDIT: After reading responses and replies, I have consolidated all of these thoughts into a new post found here:

Sorry but this is ridiculous for too many reasons to list. Most of all I don’t want GM level players doing the “bronze to GM” challenge which is just another term for smurfing. If they’re in GM and they’ve been there consistently for a while, they deserve to be there.

I have no doubt that they deserve to be there. In context, I’m proving a massive point that this MMR system is NOT REAL COMPETITION. Also, within my context, I’m speaking to those who are GM and making money off their rank. It is completely unfair for those grinding away that can be and are actually better than them to not even be able to compete that high due to MMR.

I’m 100% with you on this bro. MMR should be removed.

I can’t tell if it’s the same person making these threads on different accounts or not…
Do people not understand that SR is the simplified version of MMR for us to see? Asking for MMR to be removed is the same as asking for SR to be removed and/or be replaced with a leaderboard if anything.

If the game had not MMR, it would be incredibly bad to play. As someone who plays in Diamond/Masters, playing with and against silvers and gold isn’t exactly fun. Likewise I doubt they think it’s fun to play with and against me.

Are you upset because there are streamers who make money from their content, so you want them to “prove themselves,” even though they literally play and stay at the highest rank?

You do realise that any actually boosted players would just derank right?

Not to mention the literal 100s of hours of gameplay footage that proves it…

But, the rigging helped them!

I feel like the OP is kinda jealous tbh, I’ve never seen anyone tell streamers to “prove themselves”

Video games and matchmaking complaints…

Tale as old as time…

This is the new “I should be GM”

In my case I actually should be
#RemoveMMRfromcompetitive

what about resets every season or make it seasonal 4 times a year. or maybe yearly resets?

edit: oh thought this was about MMR. wasnt there a thread a bit ago with the same poster talking about MMR in general. now being angry at streamers is out there. why even worry what other people do. i think streamers do unranked to gm or whatever to gm because it gets them the most views. so blame the people who view them lol

if someone was paying me to do something and a fair amount. i would do it if it was easy to do. hey its free money. like mowing someones lawn a thousand times if the pay was good. if they paid me of course lol. whos gonna do that tho

What’s stopping you right now?

who cares this whole game and activision blizzard is trash company anyway…

Just be like me and stop playing their trash games already.

Not only would they, but you can pretty much tell in under a minute that someone was boosted to their rank. It sticks out badly. Positioning is such a big deal and it is something that just is not even passible until high Diamond/low Masters so even without execution you can tell immediately someone should not be in your game.

Yeah that’s so true, I can’t imagine playing in a high diamond+ game, my bot gameplay & positioning would be so obvious
