I hope it’s good for them. Actually I don’t think I care now if Overwatch recovers. Xdefiant has been a blast so far. A little grindy but so fun. Overwatch may just fall into a go back for custom game for me. Especially if I end up liking marvel rivals when I get into the beta. And this concord game actually looked fun with its movement.
Competition is probably the best thing we could get. Right now the devs have a hostage fanebase, the closest competitors being R6:Siege and Paladins which haven’t won over the core OW players in years means we’ve had nowhere to go if we want OW like gameplay but don’t like OW’s current feel.
Newer games with actual potential to flip some of the hardcore OW crowd could help in pushing t4 to focus on making and keeping OW more appealing, fun, and rewarding so people have less reason to leave. It could also spell the game’s doom if they fail to retain players in the wake of these games going live.
Right now it’s all speculation and conjecture, I just am somewhat hopeful that if OW continues to feel less fun season after season one of these new games feels fun to me.
We’ll see. The good news is it seems to be bringing in some shooter content creators a little bit. Which is massive. But you’re right it could die out. If they have anything going for them is that they’re a free CoD experience.
I thought the free CoD game was the free CoD experience
Anywho. Looking forward to the Rivals beta. Havent played a good team Marvel game since X-men Legends, some 20ish years ago. I want it to be good, here’s hoping
Choices are good. Competition is good. None of this means Overwatch is going anywhere. There’s enough differences with these games that none will kill Overwatch.
Precisely - like, they said TF2 would go down in flames once OW released. Last I checked, it’s still around and hasn’t gone into maintenance mode yet (though it probably will once Deadlock releases, though that owes more to the fact Valve can’t count to 3).
When Valorant released, they said OW would go down in flames. Guess what? It hasn’t - at least, not yet.
Also, not to put too fine of a point on it, but the day OW will be truly dead is when I no longer see forum threads saying “OW is dead”. Because actions speak louder than words.
Truth. Ive always giggled at the irony. Same with people announcing theyre quiting/uninstalling etc. So transparent whats actually being conveyed in those threads.
Overwatch isn’t going to step up even with competition. Not looking good with Microsoft under the helm. Rivals looks fun but Disney and Netease(especially) could somehow ruin it. XDefiant isn’t no Overwatch felt more Black OPs 3 hybrid.
