This game could be in trouble now

Marvel Rivals and Deadlock are the big boys. Concord is actually a joke. Go look at the dislikes to likes ratio on YouTube, it’s like 95% dislikes, the game looks so incredibly stupid… and it’s 5v5 so guaranteed to suck. The game might survive 2 months if it’s lucky. + it’s racist and has pronouns for every character, that’s not going to sit well with gamers.

Comparing xdefiant to ow is like comparing cucumber to mango

Deadlock is honestly the joke. A PC only MOBA (for real this time) hybrid is not real competition. I guess DOTA and TF2 fans are getting bored or something. That has nothing to do with Overwatch.

To quote something I said elsewhere:

Marvel Rivals has the backing of one of the most recognisable IPs in the world.
Deadlock has the backing of one of most influential game companies in the world.
Concord has…?

I am looking forward to Marvel Rival. Let them clone the best of OverWatch ideas and steal some of the customer base and capital from Blizzard.

Deadlock is directed by Icefrog who created Dota & Dota 2 which is one of the most successful esports titles in the world, clocking in the steam top 10 most played for over a decade. Thinking his new game is a joke, is a joke.

It’s not competition for the console side of overwatch but that’s only like what 30% of players? Idk. Games don’t have to be identical to compete. A hero shooter is a hero shooter. Deadlock is guaranteed to be far more complex though for intellectuals only.

Pronouns! Lol

If I recall correctly, there are more console players than PC as a result of the crossplay and free to play. Developers are just incompetent. There is a reason more and more of these failures are coming to console and not failing as hard as they would have.

But again, even for PC Overwatch players… Why the hell would they want to play a literal MOBA? I get it, Reinhardt has a shield and Mercy is a pacifist. That does not mean that people are signing up to shoot at bots and towers. Paragon already tried this and dropped it for Fortnite… A shooter with a massive console playerbase. Coincidence? I think not.

You can be excited for Deadlock, but it means absolutely nothing for the majority of this community in the same way that Project L means nothing for this community even if I bet a lot of Overwatch players will try it.

 One could also argue that DotA is the ancestor of the entire Hero Shooter genre. That or TF2 (also Valve!)

Yup, absolutely. Mobas were the first hero based games. Overwatch took that concept and applied it to an arena team fps.

Was dota around before league?

Ain’t no COD or Fornite looking behind game gonna be a problem for OW

Xdefiant won’t compete probably. But marvels rivals and concord could. Don’t know enough about concord to say it will beguaranteed competition.

I wonder if I’d enjoy it more in a group of more than myself. It has great bones. I just don’t know if what I want right now is a cod clone. It’s a very good one though.

I’m really liking the grind in Xdefiant right now. Just got past the 25level queues and I’m live with others now. Didn’t think sniping in CoD was gonna resonate with me but it is.

Wonder if/when they nerf snipers. I’ve only played like 2hrs but I think they’re wildly strong

honestly looks fun but I’d rather give up games entirely than use Ubisofts launcher

And I saw one other hero shooter looking game on the horizon.

(probably) Valve’s Deadlock, but it looks much more like a slow, Smite type ‘third person moba’ despite the original leaks playing up the speed. Not really an Overwatch competitor based on the leaks.

non-greedy indie developers: “oh noo OW has shut down, if only you had assets and could just re-do everything properly with an actual team that cares about players…”

To be fair, Overwatch and TF2 were not really comparable either, in hindsight - and neither was Valorant and Overwatch - but that certainly isn’t gonna stop folks from trying to flex on Blizzard.

Actually, the only reason I care about Deadlock is to see whether or not it’s similar to TF2 - cos if it is, that will basically all but confirm that Valve cannot count to 3.

Yes. Dota was actually a mod for Warcraft 3. It was the first moba. This is actually why blizzard in their tos now has something that basically says “if you make something cool in our game we own it!” because ya know, blizzard needs more billions for things they didn’t create.
