6V6 tests should never have season 9 changes SPECIFICALLY made for 5v5 they literally have no place in a 6v6 test version of ow.
Not only did they keep the 5v5 balance changes in they also didn’t bother to rework any hero that was specifically made for 5v5 to suit 6v6.
there’s no reality where any of the ow2 heroes made for 5v5 would go into ow1 6v6 without being reworked its insane how lazy they’ve been with this.
ow classic was genuinely a better representation for how 6v6 plays with no weird ow2 balance changes or reworks.
that being said 6v6 makes it less cancer but its still plagued with heroes made for 5v5 that they haven’t bothered to rework to give the mode a fair chance.

I see posts saying people are enjoying 6v6 and then I see posts saying that they sabotaged the experiment. If they sabotaged it then why is anyone enjoying it?

It’s way more enjoyable than the main game I just think the devs have ruined its full potential by keeping season 9 changes made for 5v5 and not reworking certain 5v5 heroes that would 100% get reworked/designed differently in ow1.

This 6v6 test is just an act of desperation because of how scared of competition blizzard is, there wasn’t going to be any reworks happening of course and it will stay that way for the rest of the year.

Who do you have in mind for a rework? I enjoy playing JQ and think she works fine in 6v6. I know everyone hates Orisa but would her old version be better?
I’m so glad rivals is out its a great game. blizz devs deserve everything that’s coming to them with competition.

IMO it’s current state (Which I’m not a fan of) is better than the current 5v5. That’s how?
More than 1 thing can be true at once. You can prefer 6v6 more than 5v5 but also dislike the way they did it.
I completely agree with the poster. The changes they made to tanks is SILLY… they should just leave them modern then do some like 20% nerf to their HP/shields so they aren’t giga tanks meant for 1 tank then do patches from there… instead like the OP said they basically just took tanks from (season 9? not sure) that were MEANT for 1 tank and just threw them into 6v6 lol.

Exactly they approached it super lazy. It’s not bad it’s better than the main game easily but it’s not 6v6’s full potential like we’ve seen in ow1.
Whoever decided to keep the season 9 changes and not rework certain abilities/heroes deserves the sack.

Do you think it’s a reasonable expectation for them to rework multiple heroes for a playtest considering how much work that is and the fact that they might not even go down the 6v6 path permanently? I don’t think I can call not doing this sabotage with a straight face.
They also said earlier that they plan on keeping the S9 changes even if they go back to 6v6 permanently. I don’t agree with them on this, but just to be fair they never set the expectation that those would be reverted.

Well then they’re moronic keeping the season 9 changes.
I get not doing the reworks but keeping the role passives and s9 changes is just dumb man.

Cause even unbalanced as it is its wayy better than 5v5, however as OP said 6v6 would be waaay better with S9 changes removed

So I think keeping the global healing is good. And honestly I would have kept the tank knockback passive, not all the other tank passives but that one specifically I think they should have kept. I do not think that they should have kept the DPS passive or the S9 health bonuses. That said, they were clear about the fact that they were going to keep those in advance.

I’m going to enlighten this statement.
The return of 6v6 is enjoyable because of 6v6 and synergies brought back.
But it’s definitively not perfect and honestly, in the current time with MR it can feel even sabotaged, because the balance patch that came accompagnied with it is actually more-or-less terrible (we had Goodman’s balance in OW1, now we have Dawson’s balance in the old OW1 asset, so it overlaps OW2 elements that are out of place). It really feels awkward which hero you pick.

This.
We know how good 6v6 can be they just haven’t fully committed to testing it at its peak.

So as I explained. Hero reworks are not really in the cards for an experiment like this. It’s not a reasonable expectation. I do agree they should have removed the S9 health bonuses on heroes and honestly I don’t think the DPS passive should exist. I would like the tank knockback passive back though.
But, about balance because I didn’t address this before. I definitely have some issues with the balance in the 6v6 patch. Widow shouldn’t have gotten buffed. D.Va is too weak. Hazard is too strong. What’s even happening with Rein. Do we REALLY need a 20 damage Soldier again? BUT, and there is a but, this is a first pass at balance. Can we expect it to be perfect or good? I’m hoping they make some balance changes to it, but this is a first attempt and of course that’s going to be off. That isn’t sabotage. That’s just how things tend to work. Nobody gets balance right the first time in games like this.

No. Orisa’s ability to place a static shield and combine it with Sigma’s mobile one was the double shield issue. And both having alrernate damage mitigation abilities when the shield broke. It was too difficult a cycle of defensive abilities to break.
Orisa for 6v6 might need some adjustments, but adding shield back isn’t it.

Overwatch classic was like old dog water, has bits of food floating aroud, its a litfle cloudy, and the edges of the bowl are coated in slime. Whatever mouth breather says classic was better isnt worth listeneing to, that entire game was an unbalanced nightmare

People make such a fuss about S9, its CRAZY. It just made weapons feel more consistent and changed the breakpoints. The game we played before and after S9 is to 99% the same. The biggest factor of 6v6 are the passives and not S9… jesus.

Passives are fine dude, tanks have to learn to play differently and actually use cover and a few braincells now instead of standing in the open mindlessly shooting
Seems like you cant understand my comment… sad.
