They are gaslighting US for the PvE Issue

I literally have friends in the same state as me and we already game together locally (DND/Pathfinder/Diablo/etc) and take vacations to the same events and room together, so commitment and travel costs are accounted for. This year I think 12 or 14 will make this years event as one guy is bringing his family.

Hardware issues can happen on any platform and the OW solution is a theoretical hope.

The literal worst case scenario is we play S2 together while S1 remains a game I can play by myself right now.

None of that can be done with OW1.

But do you own and or your friends together own 8 wii-u’s.

Because this isn’t a game that’s on multiple platforms with cross play and an active community. Or something you can wip out of a $30 card board box

There’s multiple between us. Worst case we pick up a few for dirt cheap.

We do all have switches and PCs, though. Now that I think of it we can probably just emulate S1 as long as we have legal copies of the game.

For starters wii-u’s are a collectors item, and go for $80~100 each. In varying states of conditions. And a splatoon 1 goes for anywhere between 12 to 30 used.

And you need 8 of them each to play.

And you also have room with 8 tv’s, as there is no split screen option.

And fun fact of that day! their is no local multiplayer for splatoon 1 it turns out!

Just 1v1 balloon pop via one player using the gamepad.

turfwar is completely dead.

It is an option for 2. if you all bring your nintedo switch’s into the same room. But that’s considerably more costly and still need to pay for the online member ship to just boot the game.

You can’t once the Wii u servers died, you can’t connect between pc and wii u. (Also the PC thing can also go down on a dime you know how nintendo is)

A: Is never going to happen.
B: No one wants 6v6 in the arcade. It’ll die within a day. 6v6 needs to be quick play and comp alongside 5v5.
Blizzard got rid of OW1 and 6v6 specifically because they knew allowing it to remain would split the playerbase and people wouldn’t spend a cent on the credit card trap that is OW2.

I would like to point out that splatoon 2 is near dead multiplayer game as you can only really find game in it’s QP equivlent.

While splatoon 1 is a completely dead multiplayer game. As in theirs no way to boot turfwar at all.

like 6v6 without updates, without loot boxes wich the USA pressured out of games.

And while OW2 shares all the same content. And would continue to get new modes, heroes, maps, and seasonal updates.

Ya no OW1 wouldn’t stand, like 99% of other multiplayer games that have older versions.

outside of the really random spike or sitautions like what happened with the recent battle field game. Old games are forever goign to have to live with the issues of the final balance patch. the bugs that never got patched. The community shrinking to point most modes are not accessible. Do to lack of players.

And more.

OW1 is not special case, the fact people were leving simply because of the long dps ques. Are going to be doing so ten fold when the player base halfs again and again and again.

OW1 stood for 2.5 years with no major content. It absolutely would continue to stand, to think otherwise is just blatant bias for an inferior product.
Me and everyone else I know would never have touched OW2 for more than a week if given a choice, and many, many more players would do the same.
Also, enough with the queue times. Instead of long DPS queues we now have long tank queues. Whoopdie doo, such an improvement.
OW1 was erased because enough players would never fall into the credit card trap that is OW2. That is an irrefutable fact. No other franchise has done what Blizzard did, not even Call of Duty. Call of Duty: World at War, a game from 2008 and 14 new entries after it still has running servers. Yet Blizzard can’t keep running servers for OW1? It’s not about the cost of running them, it is entirely about fear of people not funding Bobby Kotick’s yacht.

Ahaha ya no it would have continued with the same balance issues it always had.

Can’t wait for the new tank to combo with another tank requiring both to be nerfed, with the next support enabling an originally unheard off tank combo. requireing said supports to be in the light rework cycle for the next 2 years.

That and lootboxes would have still taken the L, as the USA was pressurign them out.

People were not buying loot boxes either, once word started coming around about their manipulative nature. Especially the likes of US Govs and youtubers like jimsterling.

That and you got so much free stuff from many never felt the need to do so.

So they couldn’t really bank on the first few years success now either.

And people are buying the battle pass and store skins. Like you can go into games now and see people using said content in every game.

Like here is a resent sample of what skins people are using in the last week or so.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbF7NNuiN88

A lot of mythics, hanzo sushi store skin, the terrible tornado kiriko. And that’s all in the first minute of the vidoe. Both of the players and the enemies.

Ya and their multiplayer scenes are dead, and are mostly their for their single player content.

And yet with these supposed balance issues and no new content it lasted 2.5 years, longer than this game will.

Can’t wait for the support and single tank meta to never change!

Either lootboxes would’ve been removed or would have been made free like Shadow of War and Battlefront 2.
Regardless of the outcome, lootboxes are objectively better than spending 33 weeks to buy one legendary or simply pay $20.

And the current system is better? How on Earth can someone possibly think that making free skins now cost $20 or require 33 weeks of consistent grinding while earning nothing else is somehow less manipulative than a random chance of getting what you want, something else or coins to buy what you want every hour or so?

Oh wow

Anyway

You have no way of knowing how these people got the skins or battlepass and how many other skins and battlepasses they unlocked.
You don’t know if they bought the Watchpoint pack, they grinded up the coins for three months or they grinded Microsoft Points, or if they bought coins and bought them. You don’t know if that is the only skin or battlepass they paid for or if they’re pay piggies who bought everything.
Showing me a video that people have obtained skins possibly for free or through bad spending habits doesn’t mean anything.

They’re not gaslighting you, nobody is gaslighting you, it’s all in your head.

this is a joke pls no kill

We already have several wii-u. I can grab the rest
We all have portable screens because we’ve used them before.

Good to know. However:

Again what options to play OW1 currently exist?

Not a cost if you already own the system. I’m good with buying a few copies of a good game. I’ve done it before. They’ve done it before. Yay friendship.

This is objectively false.

I literally signed out of online (i.e. I am offline), started the game, and created a local battle. It also gave me the option for salmon run. I could also play the single player campaign. Online options were, of course, not available since I was offline.

Even if it wasn’t, the family plan works with up to 8 people and is $35 a year, so less that $5 a person.

But considering your last statement you are either making things up or googling things and not validating what you find with your own copy of the game. So I think my replies end here.

So that is not a proven, that is speculation. Maybe you won’t be around at that time. But I sure will be.

I’m mean the meta has changed a lot.

It’s went from zarya, to JQ, to hog, to rien, and now it seems to be JQ again.

And even then that’s not a hard meta, a basic two peice dive combo can melt a riens back line. Or any combination of sym, mei, rien, ana, kiriko. will eat JQ alive.

While hog meta was mostly speculative, a lot of people had their winrates drop hard using only him. And swapped backed.

The same could not be said about OW1. Which leaned heavily into mirror matches and counter balance so hard it makes a new meta.

So Battlefront and SOW is not getting new content, it kind of gets the pass as a game that got grand fathered out. And removing ways to pay for such.

Live and updated games can get re rated as new content comes out. To stop companies from just patching in higher rated content.

(GTA Hot coffee being and old infamous example of this happening, even tho the content was not accessible)

OW1 could have potentially kept free boxes, but at the same time. They would have never been updated. Nor would the devs keep up seasonal events and the likes. As that would still could be seen as updates.

It’s a really annoying situation to be in.

And would have required a lot time and money to still situate.

The game is consistently buggy, one of the major features people have been waiting on has been gutted, they refuse to fix the monetization, they refuse to fix the issues created by 5v5, they refuse to provide clear communication, they refuse to make changes in a convenient timeframe, they refuse to give back 6v6, they refuse to do so much.
The game will not last as long as OW1 did in it’s drought.

The DPS meta is still one-shots hitscans.
The support meta is still Ana with a revolving door of secondary supports, typically Kiriko and Mercy.
The tank meta stays the same for an entire season. If they make no changes to Queen as she is now, she’ll still be the meta next season.

They made the changes to their lootboxes while they were getting content. Shadow of War did it later down the line, but Battlefront 2 did it straight off the bat on launch with all DLCs being free. Battlefront 2 died solely because EA put all efforts onto Battlefield 2042, sounds familiar don’t it? Only difference I see here is Battlefront wasn’t deleted because EA wanted everyone to only play 2042.

They have the money.
A COD game from 2008 still has their servers running despite no more updates and 14 new entries in the franchise, most of which or all have their servers still running.
They have no excuse.

Sadly, any one who continues to purchase Battle Passes, or spends money on the shop after this announcement is just proving Blizzard that canceling the PvE mode was the correct decision.

Why spend all the money and resource building an incredible PvE mode when the game can monetize fine as-is?

Honestly, if your really upset over what’s happened, the best way to show your disappointment is to stop playing or uninstall the game. Anything else just shows the Blizzard execs they made the right choice. :frowning:

So keep in mind PVE was going to be a sperate purchase and the PVP game we would have now only would connect with it via your account proggression.

Basically they canceled a payed expansion and are putting bits and pieces of what their able to finsish back into the PVP game.

You were never able to purchase the PVE content or even preorder it.

Secondly OW1 was considerbly buggy especialyl when it came to heroes like doom and d.va that broke consistently.

this is nothign new.

People are buying. simple as that. It’s not broken.

yet que times are runnign strong, which is a good indications of a healthy player base with no sign or indication of it slowing down.

especially with the casual players that are not in the OW news loop. Are going to be getting s dump of story content around the corner to enjoy. And simply more of the game their already enjoying.

(Yes most people don’t follow gaming news, or even exposed to it.)

“It’s okay that they gutted the campaign and turned it into Archive 2.0 guys because you were never able to pay for it anyway!”

OW1 to my recollection had only disabled 1 hero because of a bug in its 6 year lifespan, which was an Xbox-exclusive bug that would cause Ball to delete people from the match. OW2 has disabled 4 already in less than a year. OW1 never had Doomfist stuck with a bug that guts his character, even after Blizzard claims to have fixed it. Don’t know what D.va bug you’d be referring to.

“The monetization is fine because some people have atrocious spending habits guys!”
Let me guess, Halo Infinite was fine too for making you pay for items you earned for free in two previous games?

Not the tank queues lol, that’s always a 10-20 minute queue.

I mean the other option was for them to keep working on it for another several years. Pulling resources away from the main live game while doing so.

Like it’s not a finished product. It’s simply not, you never got it in the first place. Nothing is being taken away from you.

The devs choose to move their resources back to the game people are playing now. Simple as that.

Oh no d.va was disabled on quite a few occasions. Was compltely broken when the arcade modes were first introduced. As she would randomly d.mech into the sky box.

And has issues ranging from crashing games to getting completely stuck outside of the map. And this happned just about in any case were a new or change to a spawn mechanic was implemented. Usally when adding new game modes.

Wrecking ball was also disabled at one point. I’m not sure why but his ult was crashing games.

Doom on the other hand as you most likely know. Has had several issues. with hit registration. And for a long while their was no dedicated interaction when hitting rien charges with punch.

And it would sometimes stun both of you, sometimes get pinned. sometimes had rien get pushed back.

Brig had similar issues.

Sym turrest had a dozen ways to clip through walls every patch.

reaper could just leave spawn before the game started.

Mei and sym could push you into walls.

Tracer could rewind into cart completely halting the game.

Hogs hook would travel through time and space to pull you. including from spawn in the situation you died while hooked.

And so many more:

OW1 was a buggggggggyy game.

I hope this company burns
