I’m not gonna say to anyone that spending money in this game is worth it or not, you make your choice.
But the amount of reskins and recolours is quite honestly laughable.
It’s a shame that some of the best we can hope for is tinkering talent that was probably lost a short while ago.
Overwatch 2 is just itself, a reskin.

I think the shop skins for the last few weeks have been recolors because they are putting more resources into the battlepass, at least it feels like that.
Ultimately, they have good skins, and then filler skins, which are recolors of an OW1 skin. It also probably has to do with recent layoffs.

I get a notification that there is “new” skins in the shop or items from sets every day.
Those skins is just re-colours for legacy coins!
They could at least release 6 new skins a week (2 for each roll). So heroes with few OW2 skins could get some love too.
I swear this genji skin is like the second version of this skin they’ve done this year? Didn’t they just do some fire version of it?
Honestly I can’t keep track anymore lmao
Sometimes it just looks like there is 3 heroes (Genji, Mercy and Kiriko) in the intire game.
It would be nice if they could ad more heroes.

I think the recent layoffs at Blizzard has affected this. I noticed the skins started to look worse these last few weeks.
Lotus Lifeweaver’s back so this week’s rotation is saved

I have yet to buy any yet, but when the cowboy bebop collab drops, I’m folding
100% that. People, especially OP ive noticed, moan when the best skins are in the store. People still moan when they’re in the battle pass lol
Can’t win
Also everyone should remember we have a collab event coming with cowboy bebop. They dont want to burn players out with good skins now and them not then spend money during the collab. Makes more sense to have mid skins now that people are happy to skip so that if people are going to spend they do so during the collab
Also makes sense if they had this collab planned for this season, the majority of the dev resources were probably working on cosmetics specifically for the collab and not just random 1 off shop skins.
It makes sense, I mean look at a game like Fortnite, skins in that game are sometimes doo doo butt, and then the next week they release a banger.
They probably want expectations to be super low when the shop resets, and then they see the skin Blizzard has been working on and go like “Holy moly! I’m buying that for sure.” The only thing I’m iffy on when it comes to the shop are the prices for the skins. $20 for a recolor of the skin I got for just playing the game is a major turn off.
I guess but remember some people don’t have that og skin so charging less for a recolour will always be iffy because someone paid full price for the original.
Would be a bit silly for someone to pay full 1900 coin price for a skin for then a couple seasons later a recolour come out and be 500 coins just because its a recolour. Those 2 people paid 1400 difference for the same skin.
Maybe they could make if you already own the original version they could offer a discounted price for the recolour? Its not like someone who has the widow or rein skin from ow1 is going to spend 1900 coins for the pink version anyway.
Didn’t they already do something like that with the Cardboard Rein skin? I payed $20 for the original cardboard skin, and then during the Winter Wonderland event, you could buy the recolor only for $5 (premium pass).
I don’t know if they reduced the price though, since I had the original, so I might be wrong.

Has nothing to do with this. Skins are made mostly 6-12 months before they come out. They just throw recolors in for the sake of it. Maybe to test the waters and see how many people buy them.
yep and they randomly made all of illari’s legendaries legacy credits after being forced to buy them with current currency for months, imagine all those people screwed over lmao
If what you say is true I worry about future skins that WILL be affected by the layoffs…
People need to gather information correctly. None of the people who made skins was thrown out. The layoffs mostly affected the PvE (the story missions are done completely), lore (that has not moved on since 5 years it feels like) and some map artists that had small tasks like lighting in some areas.
That is over 300 skins a year. That would be a crazy amount especially without being a ton of recolours.

Do you work at Blizzard? I’m just making assumptions based on the recent skins in the store, and the recent news of layoffs at Blizzard. You seem confident in what you’re saying. Do you have sources?
pretty sure there was literally a ton of artists on twitter that posted they were laid off???
