The ultimate lifeweaver guide

To many complaints about weaver and to many people who don’t understand the hero.

  1. The double heal tech, after full charging press the button again immediately after and you can do a quick extra 10 for 85hps total

  2. How to heal, prioritize healing people who DON’T have defensive abilities of whos defensive abilities have been used for those who are using there defensive abilities start charging your healing immediately upon them activating them and heal them up.

  3. Always be dpsing to force abilities if dvas dming and your teams in vc tell them to stop shooting and what you wanna do is “Tap fire” same for terra spin doom block when you see those abilities/abilities like those you just wanna tap fire

  4. How to lifegrip a lot of you are holding yourselves back so you don’t get bad lifegrips and your team roasting you, Looks like console is less toxic look if Im being attacked Im pulling you back to peel for me or to use as a shield but there are very specific people you want to pull for this.

1 Dva when pulled say “I need your dm”
2 jq say “shout for me” (be careful when pulling queen for this tho you might piss her off by interuptering her plays entirely be absolutely sure you know what your doing)
3 hopefully you won’t have to but orisa she’ll have to waste a cool down for you.
4 rein
5 hog
(These aren’t in order btw)

For dps pull soilder and ask for his healing station
Genji seems to always be a good pull target ask them to deflect.
Sombra/mei can be used as temporary human shields.

Next ana ask her to nade/heal you.
Baptiste tho preferably not but definitely not when he has immortality field keep track of his regen burst.
Brig and just hope that inspire is going
Kiriko for the suzu.

  1. Always be moving these people who are telling you to do this and that and use platform like this you hear all the big streamers talking about how hes bad and everyone thinks they understand how to play him, look you are playing overwatch keep moving you should be rotating between high ground and low ground yeah having a platform to “escape flankers” and all that is great? You know whats better? Actually freaking doing something change positions with it, go on off angels, hell flank if you feel like it (wait a little bit so you can get out with the next platform).

  2. I just ended a game with 3k damage and 10k healing you just ended a game with 20k healing and 300 damage I won my game you lost yours? Would anyone like to teach the class why this is? Because Im actually trying to win and you are trying to pad your stats. If someones crit and your other support is there guess what? It is not your job to heal them I just completely ignored my tank like twice because there was a mercy latched on to them anyways there was absolutely no reason I shouldn’t be dpsing right there. The target died before his team got back.

“But but his healing takes so long to charge and if I don’t charge it there gonna” stop telling yourself that and start shooting and pay attention to your other supportif it’s a lucio? Then yeah this makes sense if its ana, Baptiste, mercy, that 80 hp dps on your team I assure you they will be fine you can let people die that is fine of course try not to because you are still a support but if you pushing at the end of second point kings row and you need picks tell them spawn switch is the L3 button baby.

  1. Always always ALWAYS assist I hate playing with doom but if doom punches somebody switch that hand over (if it isn’t already as it should be) and start pelting them with damage if your rein pins someone empty the clip if your bap windows empty the clip, if mercy valks, empty the clip, if your cass hinders somebody unload all them bullets, if hog hooks someone unload all them bullets.
Sigma rocks someone? And your not doing damage? Are you throwing? Your sombra hacks someone? Your mei freezes someone? Or if she starts a blizzard I don’t care if someone on your team is legitmeatly 1 hp put every single thorne you have into there mercys skull.

^ this is how you actually play weaver and this is how I’ve been winning games. My only real struggle is flankers mainly genji but I’ve found being on the high ground helps with most of them and constantly and consistently changing my angles.

  1. Tree of life try and wait out some cool downs or when someone on your team gets low (this will usually happen at the same time) then you should have tree of life on INSTA CAST! none of this double press bullcrap. If you don’t have tree of life on “cast on release” in the lifeweaver settings menu you are using his ult incorrectly and you are the reason your team is dying. That’s cast on release let me say it one more time for the people in the back “Cast on release” it should be on no other setting unless you wanna waste time.

  2. Dash sucks so just use it how you’ve been using it.

That’s only if your bad with weaver (and don’t play on console Im not sure how well all this transfers over to pc).

I’m happy to see educational content but you have a habit of dismissing people who think the character is bad as people who don’t know anything.

Here’s an analysis thread if you’re interested.

That’s useful to know for people trying to play him. Good on you for sharing it.

I mean this is basic healbotting advice.

This might work in lower elos but in higher elos there just isn’t really enough time to do so. Maybe it’s different on console.

Cool. But you’re going to make people hate you, and a good life grip is still not that great. Any other support’s utility is preferable because he’s a completely passive character with no offensive utility (enabling others is offensive utility, Mercy has damage boost).

And your frontline will collapse in higher elo, likely getting the players there killed from the sudden lack of a tank.

Same for these two.

While much better than the tanks, you’re now destabilizing the frontline for the enemy.

And now your genji is in the worst possible place to do their jobs.

Honestly a better pull than the other two, but depending on the distance the enemy team is now free to walk forward and snowball without fear.

You’ve also just made her vulnerable to the flank as well.

Much better than Ana with his self sustain.

Brig should have been the top of the list. She’s an anti-flank character.

She’s a good one, she can swiftstep back to the fight after helping you.

…The big top500 streamers who are literally some of the best in the game. He isn’t a good flanker, and always be moving tends to make you easier to kill off as you lack one of your petals. I’ve been farming a lot of Life Weavers who do what you say here.

Because quite frankly your team is better than the enemies. Life Weaver is a passive character who works in low ranks where fights are slow, but falls apart in higher ranks where ttk and offensive utility matters. There’s a reason the highest top500s can go on Life Weaver is high plat/low diamond.

Cool. Swap to Bap, he’s far better for what you’re describing here.

Once again, you’re attempting to make Life Weaver play like Baptiste, and he is far worse than Bap at what you’re attempting to do.

You’re playing Life Weaver. You aren’t exactly going for optimal play.

…And this doesn’t fix any of his problems.

This. Literally any other support is better.

No. That’s if you’re decent with literally anything else. Life Weaver only works at low elo as intended. Above that he is currently trash competitively.

Im masters OMEGALUL. Actually hes the one who helped me break through to masters a combination of him and Baptiste.
You’ve probably never seen anyone Play him the way I do, and heck I bet they still don’t even have tree of life on cast on release.

Cool. I’m also Masters. He ain’t great and you’re the outlier. I’ve seen plenty who try to play Life Weaver as you say and it doesn’t work.

Read the analysis thread. He’s a passive support with no offensive utility and doesn’t have anything to really pick him over literally any other support. Huge trolling capacity as well.

I notice this is more of a problem with people who don’t play Baptiste, they don’t know how to use Defensive abilities offensively. (Baps kit is all defensive but hes still considered one of the best dps in the game).

I’ve pulled plenty of people to help me secure/get a kill before

Yes. But his ability don’t actively trade off things for his team. Once again. Ready the analysis thread, or should I start quoting relevant sections at you?

And I’ve baited a lot of pulls because they destroy the integrity of his teams structure.

Bro, you didn’t have to make an entire thread just to give tips to the three other people that play that trash character. You could have just texted the group chat.

I’ve done this.

I described how to play with this.

I’ve also said how to play with this.

Yes.

Yes

Maybe but I don’t prioritize this.

Actually wait a lot of the stuff your talking about is just bad lifeweavers has nothing to do with my actual guide.

Like a LOT of it is just life grip like a LOOOTT of it.

Anything else you said about healing or dpsing I said how to use both in my guide.

Which we can stalemate on lifegrip I haven’t really seen anyone as good as me use it, but I’ve also been the victim of plenty of bad ones.

Dude, educational content is a good thing. Don’t knock it.

Yes.

Yupperino.

Agreed. However the problem I highlight is that Life Weaver’s method of doing this trade’s material advantage for the enemy having positional advantage.

This… Isn’t really a good thing.

Absolutely.

Of course not but it’s useful to use. Not a priority but a very handy tool that can win fights if done well. But it isn’t a core part of his kit’s real world use.

A lot of the stuff I’m talking about is how the abilities’ play out in live play. You aren’t the only Life Weaver I’ve seen in masters or diamond.

Because it’s arguably his most powerful utility and it accomplishes very little of what it is intended to do in live play.

Except that again, it’s simply not anywhere near as good as characters like Bap.

It isn’t even about bad ones. Perfectly used Life grips still inherently undermine defensive positions, undermine your teammates formation, and will remove agency and disorient.

You can’t avoid that because that’s the trade off of the ability itself.

Can you minimise it? Yes to an extent, but as long as it’s used in a situation that is more than just two players on your team, you will undermine something.

It’s a gambit character all the way through without the offensive utility to justify it.

Ultimate Lifeweaver guide for me:

  1. Go to respawn point
  2. Press ‘H’
  3. Pick up other support

With this guide my win rate raised a lot.

I bet a lot of you just listened to like streamers on like how to play him and tried to copy them and are like “well if they can’t make him work I probably can’t either” so when you do play him you try and copy them and heal bot. Legit anyone could do that.
It dosen’t take a rocket scientist to give people the advice “oh just heal bot because his damage is so low”

Character needs a rework. No, I don’t listen nor care about streamers. I’m glad you like him, and these can be helpful tips for players. I do not see him as having enough tangible benefits over other supports to see myself ever playing him in his current state though.

Alright thats valid I wouldn’t say a rework tho maybe some changes here and there. Id love for his heals to maybe like charge in the background as he does damage.

Yeah, I’m not meaning to say he is useless or that he can’t be played well. I do think I’ve seen a couple good lifeweavers. I also am sure that if they were good on another support we could do even better haha!

I would agree that if they do change him, his charge needs to be looked at when he is dealing damage. It is actively his biggest hurdle right now imo.

I wonder how best I can explain it because there are some situations where I actually am like “I wish I was on weaver right now”

  1. The spawn seal I have a entire other guide in how to seal off the soawn doors of different maps.
  2. Long range consistent no fall off poke damage.
  3. Getting certain tanks to high ground, hog, jq, Rammatra. It’s always so funny when people don’t expect the TANK to suddenly come up there and push them then all the sudden here comes jq with a mighty shout here to kill all of them.
  4. Hes a escape artist the longer your alive means more ult charge more ult charfe is always good.
  5. He keeps people below max hp consistently especially after the damage buff.
  6. He can force out cool downs and abilities meanwhile your team conserves ammo to actually burst down the target and you can use the bullets you saved up to help finish them like with the dva example if you “Tap fire” you’ll make her waste dm and then when shes used enough get your team to soam her same with orisas terra spin.
  7. He Hits headshots I’m not sure what the headshot multiplier is for him probably just x2 but a lot of times your dropping peoples hp faster then expected and if you actually know how to line it up each head shot brings someone closer and closer to dying.
  8. Platform gives him constant high ground anywhere so yeah you can argue its like baps who I also play but he can move it around and stay anywhere he wants have better angels etc.
  9. He allows hyper hyper aggression for tanks (mainly rein) cause you can just pull them out.
  10. He can get someone back to max hp relatively fast so you can go back to dpsing.

Ever since the reload nerd thats been kinda off so hopefully they revert that.
