The Treatment of Mercy Mains

Thanks  I’ve already prepared myself for what’s to come. Although I’ve admitted my mistakes, I still made them and I gotta take what’s coming to me.

The treatment of Mercy mains = Deserved

Well… I think i will stick around and help the tide cool of a bit, all of us make mistakes, and nobody deserves hate when they apologised in my eyes.

What about Bastion? Not a word in almost 2 years
Or Reaper, who is still pointless
Or Ana who gets useless changes that solve nothing
Or Orisa, who is still the worst tank
Or McCree who is pointless
Or Sombra who is just terrible

I mean there’s so many other characters who have been waiting for at least a YEAR or more for any word on fixes or changes

At least Mercy is still and will always be playable

thank god you are the one person who knows what they are talking about. It is very hard to keep the 40 million player base happy, and mercy has been the thick of the problems

Hey… We chill now.
OP was in blind rage, He apologised.
Let’s try to work this from a toxic to a positive thread, Shall we?

An opinion spouted once or twice by people who don’t play these hero’s should hold a lot less weight then people who play these hero’s in and out know their strengths and respect their weakness.

They listen to pro’s about nerfs. Not one hero has been buffed due to a pro’s opinion.

You are absolutely delusional. Brigitte, Zarya, Hanzo and widow are legitimately better than they were before? Whether the nerfs were justified or not, this statement is blatantly false. Then there’s Rein who had all his animation cancels removed and feels worse than he ever has, the best part is none of it was mentioned in the patch notes.

To who? Ana mains top off their nano targets already and then pocket them. Ana mains already know how powerful the defensive utility of Nano is. This buff does nothing for her viability and only adds to her overabundant utility thats already got blizzard scared to buff her in any meaningful manner.

And the counter arguments made by anyone not in gold or lower mean what? They listened to the casual opinion and continue to nerf any hero that’s a half decent counter to Tracer because to be an effective counter to Tracer they automatically become more oppressive to nearly every other hero in the game. First Mei, Then Sombra, Now Brigitte.

My original statement was blizzard doesn’t listen to anybodies mains, and I’ve more than proven my point. You can move the goalpost and say the devs listen to player feedback all you want. I even agree they do. The horribly wrong feedback that only makes the game worse.

Hey! I’ve made an edit to clear this mess up.

I can see why you thought like this, but I assure you my intentions were to shed some light on how it feels to be a mercy main specifically whilst posting on these forums.

The topic i read from RichC a couple of days ago, sums up the toxicity directed at Mercy mains and the responses i have read here reinforce that statement. As long Mercy is viable the Mercy mains will have to “stop winning” or “play another support hero”.

While i don’t really would like to see many changes on her kit and don’t really find her boring, i can sympathize with your frustrations. However at this point is obvious this is not the best place to share feedback and you will end up receiving more comments mocking you or the typical “hurr durr entitled Mercy main”. If there’s something the community needs to learn is to not battle fire with fire when someone is frustrated and doesn’t voice their opinion on the best manner possible.

Hope you have a nice day and enjoy playing as Hammond!

Now this is a statement I can agree with. Look at Symmetra. All most Sym mains really wanted at the end of the day were for our teammates to see our constructs through walls and some QoL buffs. What do we get? An entirely different hero in many ways. This is also a hero that’s never received one buff. Not one. Only reworks.

“Hey Blizz my team can’t see my shield gen.”

Blizz: DID YOU SAY REMOVE IT AND GIVE HER A GIANT BARRIER? CAN DO.

It calls back to your earlier point: the devs don’t listen to the people playing these heroes. I’d bet Blizzard wasn’t even aware of the things Sym 1.0 and 2.0 were really capable of because none of their crew plays her. And taking the opinions of pros on a hero literally none of them have touched is despicable.

Probably not gonna happen.
It’s easier to blindly hate people than actually resolve a situation.

It’s really sad, you only see one opinion of a person since it’s the overwatch forums, and there are waaay too many people who just go out and hate by that one opinion.
This is why pretty much everyone loves Jelly here, He found a good twist, he had an idea to build and entire positive character around himself, leading to people to like him, we are all Jelly here, but none of us but Jelly Showed it to the forums.

Can’t speak for the other heroes but Roadhog was gutted in his initial nerf, of course there was an outcry on the forums, though nowhere near the amounts that comes with any chance to Mercy.

His nerf ended up with him dropping from a healthy 5% something pick rate to ~0.38% as his lowest, not so surprised people complained, especially when the majority of the player base was for this nerf at the beginning.

Even so, you don’t see countless of Roadhog, D.Va, Genji or Ana threads every day saying the same thing over and over again.

With Mercy you do, always.

They kinda do.

Or maybe, Bomb shell: The devs run the forums.

WE DIDN’T ASK FOR THIS REWORK!!

It was a completely BS move that Blizzard forced onto us, DESPITE A LOT OF FEEDBACK! We WANRED Blizzard that Mercy was about to become a powerful must-pick. Did they listen to us? No! They pushed the rework to live, touted it as a success, and blatantly ignored Mercy players.

Do you think we WANTED this daily drama? NO! We just wanted to play our hero in peace, without all this toxicity aimed at us for what BLIZZARD DID. But doing the smart thing to Mercy was just too hard apparently, so instead of making small tweaks to prevent idiot players from hiding, we instead get this stupidly OP, boring, soulless moth.

And you act like this is OUR FAULT? Get out of here with that BS line of thinking. We’ll keep speaking up until Blizzard can admit that this rework mess is a major failure, and ONLY their fault. NOT OURS.

I’d rather not have a sticky megathread return. The previous megathread is just a complete mess, especially when other threads (some not even Mercy feedback) were moved into the megathread and disrupting one or more ongoing discussions. I’m fine with a community run megathread so long as we don’t return to the old forum habit of the past year where anything discussing Mercy was moved into one thread.

Let the megathread be permanently closed if that must be done, but please don’t let it return. I hope the powers that be have learned from their mistake in running a somewhat deceptive megathread as well as cramming all discussion of a hero into a megathread.

whenever a flanker asks for a buff, you guys scream bloody murder

Hmm, from what I recall, there was an abnormal amounts of threads saying she’d be useless, not OP.

They didn’t. That’s my point.
Those heroes never got a rework.
Their fans never got isolated into a single thread for close to a year (that then got massflagged over and over again until it got closed completely without a mod or dev response or anything.)

Nobody ever said that ONLY Mercy players are “suffering”. Quote anyone, ANYONE who is a Mercy main and claimed or acted like that on the forums. Hint: Not everything you disagree with is “whining”.

Reworks don’t and didn’t happen to everyone.
What happened to the hero Mercy hasn’t happened to any other hero in Overwatch … yet. That is a fact.
And the treatment Mercy mains faced, have faced (and still face) on these forums, on reddit, on twitch and on social media … also can’t be compared to the treatment other hero mains received and are still receiving. Claiming that is something I would call … quite a stretch.

“The witch is dead”
“The moth is dead”
“****ing Mercy main”
“Brainless ****ing hero”

Are apples and bananas the same?

It does.

Doomfist for example received multiple buffs recently. Not true.

Are you seriously telling me that you read the post I responded to and thought that the way that person wrote was respectful and polite.
“Sunshine?”
“Suck it up, buttercup?”

We wouldn’t have this conversation if you actually fully understood why the OP wrote what he wrote.

Where’s this form of developer response you are refering to? Was there ever a proper response to the pinned feedback thread … that got massflagged over and over again … that is closed and unpinned now … without a single comment from mods or devs … Or is all of that supposed to be a response now? I guess showing someone the middlefinger can be called a response then, something you should just “suck up, buttercup”.

I certainly appreciate these words.
