The Tip Thread!

Welcome to The Tip Thread!! All you have to do is post a tip for your main(s)! If you’re lucky, you might find a tip for a hero you’re trying to learn!

I’ll start:
SOMBRA: Hacking a health pack is really good to heal yourself, but also to deny the enemy team some healing. It’s going to take some time, but make sure you’re aware of the key health packs in a fight so you can hack them and give your team the advantage

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand go!

If you liked Torb in his old form, uninstalling the game will help avoid any ill feelings towards how Blizzard completely changed how the character handles while offering no alternative if you actually enjoyed that style of play so that twitch shooters could have another character to play.

Don’t be a speed boost only dps lucio.

Beyond that when playing d.va and you’re battling another d.va think of it as a Rock Paper Scissors game, except with multiple turns in succession to determine the victor because of her abilities.

Examples on how to win include only using her defense matrix when they use micro missiles and only using micro missiles after they use defense matrix.

Dps Moira works :woman_shrugging:

Only 1 tip allowed?
Alright.

Mei’s walls can be used to free teammates and herself who are trapped in Junkrats traps by placing one below them.

When playing Reinhardt press W… You’re now a gold player.

More tips to reach diamond in the future :+1:

Oh more than 1 tip is allowed!

And that’s actually really helpful!!

Lucio - Don’t use aura at the start of a game to get to the point first, save it for the first fight.

If you press buttons during valkyrie you can have fun and have an impact on the game.

Mind=Blown.

Mercy:

  • Don’t be a bot and do nothing during Valk because you think it’s just glorified spectator mode. Be creative and think of ways you can impact the fight. Your ult is impactful. You just need to put in the effort.
  • Don’t hold your ult too long. You charge it quickly and it’s not a key ultimate you have to hold for an optimal moment (my favourite use of Valk is using free flight to resurrect a key target you wouldn’t have been able to reach such as a person on high ground or someone who was behind the enemy team).

Orisa:

  • When placing your shield keep in mind what natural cover you have around. You want to be positioned somewhere where you’re able to retreat to an equally good position quickly if your shield breaks faster than expected/the enemy is claiming space. Having natural cover also gives your supports more space if you or another teammate are covering any flank routes they may be exposed to.
  • Use your shield aggressively. Shield over-extended teammates because giving them space means taking it away from the enemy. Don’t just hunker down in the same spot at a distance every fight.

In that case, here is a bunch of tips for Mei from a Mei main:

Primary Fire
  • Focus on tanks and heroes with no mobility first. Don't be afraid to walk through shields to freeze the enemy.
  • Use her primary fire during her ult to stack her freezing. They will freeze faster.
Secondary fire
  • Spam it. Use this as a primary fire instead of a secondary fire.
  • Target enemies close to mid range.
  • Try headshotting a Tracer with it instead of trying to freeze her. It can insta kill Tracer.
Ice Wall
  • Place it under Junkrat's trap to free yourself or teammates from it.
  • Use it to seperate enemy teams. Especially the front line like tanks.
  • The Ice-Wall can be used to freeze turrets immediately if it is place under or next to it.
  • The Ice Wall is great to lift enemies up behind a shield.
  • Use it in Zarya's Graviton Surge to gain better mobility and to evade enemy's attack better.
Cryo-Freeze
  • Cryo-Freeze can be used to protect teammates from LoS attacks like Dva's ultimate.
  • Use her Cryo-Freeze to protect a sleeping teammate by using it on top of them.
  • Cancel her Cryo-Freeze before it is canceled by itself to throw enemies a bit off.
Ultimate
  • Use it to scare enemies away from an area like chokepoints and checkpoints.
  • Don't use it close to enemies with stun abilities. Your ultimate wil get canceled if you get stunned even if you already threw it.
  • It's not a bad idea to save it for the overtime or last push.
Stalling
  • Use her abilities to stall points. (Cryo-Freeze > Corner yourself with a wall > Try to outlive the cooldown of your Cryo-Freeze once your wall has been broken > repeat.)

Use dva to defence matrix riptyres!
Jokes aside, on control maps if youre not planning on using Lucio, switch to him in the beginning and speedboost everyone out. Then quckly switch to whoever you were going to originally play. You get to the point faster than the other team that way!

•Make sure you have three turrets ready to throw before using your ULT. That way you will have 150dps ready to go and they will be protected by your wall.

I feel like I’m the only one, but I rebound Mei’s primary and secondary fire (m1 = m2 and vice versa). It just feels better to play imo.
