You resorted to ad hominem in your previous arguments. I would stop talking if I were you.
You have a bad memory it seems. Name how many primary healers existed at day 1, before Ana was added? I’ll wait.
So it doesn’t dishearten people when their ultimate combos get undone by a Transcendence? Or maybe they got hit with a random Hanzo arrow. Or maybe being frozen disheartens them, because they can’t fight back. Maybe being 1 shotted by a nano-blade is disheartening to them. The point is, many aspects of the game are “disheartening”. Balance is based on the health of the game. For example, Nano boost was nerfed because it brought forth a triple tank meta that was running rampant through the game, making other supports (like Mercy) a troll pick. Same reason why 2.0 Mercy was nerfed right away, because she had 2 ultimates in one with the triple rez and that was unhealthy. To be able to DPS enemies down like crazy, zip around everywhere with the insane GA speed, heal/dmg boost your team, and rez 3 members without a cast time was unhealthy. Hence why it was nerfed.
Your entire “balance around what’s disheartening” argument is false and heavily opinionated.
huh? at what point was the number of healers at the start of the game brought up by me
Couldn’t it be argued that having a multi-person Rez in a team based FPS like OW is idiotic for a PVP game?
An ability like Mass Rez is only balanced when the hero in question is weak. Simply because the ult is so powerful compared to anything else.
Mass Rez never should’ve been a thing. If we never had it from the get go we would’ve had so much more we could’ve done with Mercy.
Overwatch is not your standard FPS, and it should not be treated that way. It’s more of a fighting game.
If your current documented credentials can’t back up your claims then no one is under obligation to trust your hypothetical ones. Going off what you have now you haven’t played mercy and your opinion of how she is supposed to be played clearly shows that.
Actually, Ana existed before the invulnerability buff.
ad ho·mi·nem
ˌad ˈhämənəm/Submit
adverb & adjective
1.
(of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.
“vicious ad hominem attacks”
2.
relating to or associated with a particular person.
“the office was created ad hominem for Fenton”
They questioned my knowledge of the game by claiming I have no time played on mercy. I stated this is an alt account, a position I’ve maintained on these forums for a while now, and have said before that I’m not about to switch accounts everytime some elitist wants to measure SR or time played as if their opinion isn’t valid without being higher. I stated a fact, OP didn’t want to believe me, but thats not my problem. Their original position is baseless and did not contribute to any argument, unless the argument is to discredit over talking facts.
I did not use an ad hominem. They did. I hope youve learned something.
He is level 135 I highly doubt he was around during 1.0 Mercy
EDIT: did not realize it was an alt account, my apologies.
If aim bot, wall hacks, CC and one shots can exist then rez is fine.
It’s nothing close to a fighting game. Besides the counter hero with another hero concept (which applies to MOBAS, MMOs, and other FPS as well.) It’s really nothing alike.
If you want to compare it to anything, TF2 is the best place to start. Similar gameplay, objectives, quirky heroes, map design, etc.
Firstly, I was talking about one of your previous arguments. Secondly, ad hominem is when you use a personal attack as an argument to back up your point which you very much did.
Thirdly, I find it sad that you had to look up the definition when you should already know this before engaging in a debate… It is literally the first logical fallacy you should know of.
Ana didn’t come until after Season 1. Zen was buffed originally due to being a troll pick. Mercy was the only main healer until Ana, and then Ana survived intact for one season before being nerfed to F Tier. Triple tank meta lasted a single season. Not mamy on the comp ladder ran it, because there are far more dps mains than tank or support, therefore mercy was the main healer through the entire game’s lifespan, even from the beginning, since she was the only main healer in the beginning.
Any way, have a nice day mercy mains. You’ll never get mass rez back, but enjpy ganging up on someone else. You can’t win against facts no matter how hard you try, so that’s why you result toward insults and discrediting. Classic bad debater tactic. Git gud
The point I’m trying to make is that this is not the typical FPS game in the sense of the mechanics it has (invis, aimbot, wallhacks, healing/tanking class, etc). If all of these mechanics exist then it is also justified to have rez in the game
Mass Rezz instantly revives up to 5 other players. So unless there is an ultimate that instantly kills 5 people (ignoring barriers and geometry.) It isn’t exactly fair.
Besides that, Mass Rez is better than everything you suggested.
You think we wanted Mercy to be OP, ever? All of the threads we make about reverting Mercy focuses on one larger point. We would much rather have her be underpowered and fun than super strong in the meta. We give so many suggestions to fix Mercy 1.0 (before invulnerability) to make it even easier to counter her. We’re literally saying that even though she was kinda bad in this state, we’re willing to suffer a few more nerfs to please the rest of the community.
Invulnerability didn’t exist then??
Ana was infinitely better.
She was better than Mercy ever since her release.
3 months which is 1/4 of a year.
Umm, triple tank was the meta? Most Effective Tactic Available.
Slipperly slope fallacy.
Well duh?
Shortly after, Ana comes along.
Play the victim, much like Sprinkles.
Thankfully, most of what you’ve said is a fallacy.
This is ironic coming from the person who said this:
Coming from the person who resorted to ad hominem.
The fact that it isn’t a traditional FPS is exactly why something like Mass Rez never was a good idea. No one would mind Mass Rez if the TTK was similar to MW3.
Mass Rez would be similarly broken in R6S and CS:GO and they are traditional FPS games. The thing all these games have in common with each other regardless is that they’re all team based FPS games. (That includes OW btw, kinda it’s biggest selling point.)
Giving such massive power to one hero is never a good idea unless that hero is gimped by design. It also creates a more toxic and stressful environment for those playing such a character as there is so much value in their ability to resuscitate multiple people at once.
Junkrats rip tire can easily burst down an entire team instantly, so can Reapers ult, so can DVa’s bomb, so can Pharah, so can the current dragon combo running the meta. There were fixes to mass rez that have been suggested to make it fair and people actively ignored them. Hell, people keep saying just make it so single rez can only be used during valk so the ult itself feels more engaging, and still people ignore. So no, you want rez gone all of those have to go as well if you want things fair. Those don’t belong in a FPS either.
