In a game that seeks hero specialization, any hero who can do everything is a problem. Old Brig could do it all. Old Sig could do it all. Current Bap can do it all.
And then there’s Cree, who has arguably been the most busted hero in the game for nearly a year now. There is no specialization to his kit, and that’s the issue. He can out-duel hitscan. He can CC flankers. He can CC and burst tanks.
He can do everything that is necessary of the DPS class except peel high ground, and shield break (which is overrated anyways).
And while his pick-rate is tapering off some since the global dropoff nerf, I still take issue with his versatility. Especially when there’s so many other DPS who have a singular or dual function within the game.
But no, Cree can do virtually everything. And if we’ve learned anything from the past (cough, old Brig), when a single hero can do it all, it’s bad for the game.
yeah but what would they turn McCree into? I mean they could take the tank burst away sure but he would still have an advantage at every range available
I do think there is quite a bit of specialization on his kit though, what I don’t think he has is much skill expression (because of fth) he’s a character who heavily relies on aiming without sights and who plays best at mid range, same as hanzo but without mobility
that doesn’t fix his ability to fight at every range nor does it give him any extra weaknesses aside from 25 less hp, also skill expression remains the same…
as for the flashbang hitbox rework, I assume you mean reducing the range since it’s pretty big which would make it harder to stun foes but again, this is just a nerf and his kit remains identical so his design issues would still prevail
This is what I would like for McCree in contrast lol, taken from a thread I made before he had his hp increased but for the record I don’t think he needs his hp reverted even with these
With a change like this McCree would be more focused on avoiding reload and doing quick shots as needed, more precision based basically and less spammy shooty shoot, plus you ge the option of having a functional ult for high rank
I gotta say, the nerfs did absolutely nothing about the problems he caused. The only thing it did is slightly decrease his overall midfight DPS which was never a problem to begin with
They need to remove his HP buff, decrease his hitbox slightly and decrease flashbang radius by 50%-75%
Dont you think good players need to have a hero who allows them to express their skills and be handsomely rewarded instead of being artifically limited by game design? It doesnt have to be McCree , but some hero who are immune to cheese and the only way to win against such hero is by being better, not by picking a counter?
yes absolutely but aren’t Hanzo, Ashe, Widow, Doomfist and Tracer that? I do get what you mean though, as strong as McCree is he’s pretty much middle ground for good players
U literally hit the nail on it’s head. While hes not at the same power of release brig and sig, he falls in the exact same category. Hes the do all be all, answer for every issue that makes u lose (which is why his wr is so low with such high pickrates always), and its ok because now people gave him the new sub-role of enforcer.
Yea it literally didnt change anything cree almost, because it nerfed where he wasnt very effective anyway, and kept him the same in his effective ranges.
If you are actually good at McCree a 25hp nerf and stun hitox nerf will not impact you.
If you rely on his generous hitbox and having extra HP then yes it will. He doesn’t need 225hp and it would be nice if his stun only stunned people it actually hits, those who have a problem with these nerf ideas clearly can’t rely on their own skill alone.
I agree on stun, but the 25hp will impact u no matter how good u are, because having more or less hp is just always impactful. If rein had 400 or 600 instead it’d impact everyone, even good players whom are great at min-maxing dmg income.
Yes but its not like his damage output is being nerfed, if people can aim they will kill a 200hp target with a headshot and a bodyshot whether they have 225hp or 200hp.
No mobility, slow fire rate, can only burst damage at reaper ranges, completely based his styn and fan so other abilities are essentially throw aways. Ie his roll is really only useful for fast reloading. And his ult is one of the worst in the game. If you miss stun its usually a wrap.
True true, if not for Hammond and constantly having shields shove into my face or Doom, Tracer buzzing around, i would love to play Ashe instead of Cree all day
Mccree is in a really weird spot, soldier is slowly overtaking him which is good but I have no idea how the current Mccree works anymore. Definitely not as op as he was before.
