The Porsche Collab is Insulting

Two reasons this collab is insulting

  1. You’re paying money for in-game product placement. They want you to pay actual money to advertise for them. Have you seen the “highlight intro?” If you’re wearing the Porsche skin, it’s literally an in-game advertisement.

  2. They intentionally priced the bundle so you have to dramatically overpay. It costs 3400. (I live in Canada, so this is in CND) To buy this bundle you have to pay $52 CND for the two orders of 2,000 coins OR $65 CND for the 5,000 coin option.

I get that Overwatch 2 is Free-to-play now, but this collab is the biggest money grab from the Overwatch team to date. It’s honestly insulting.

P.S. Actually, now that I think about it, it’s hilarious. The skins aren’t even that good. It’ll be interesting to see how many whales buy this bundle.

This is every collab ever.

See but with other collabs you’re usually supporting something cool. Like having your hero cosplay an anime character.

Not advertising a car company…

If we could at least CHANGE THE COLOR of a Porsche skin, like we can with mythic skins.

DULL WHITE for such an OP (OverPriced) SKIN?
C’mon

My real life Porsche certainly is not dull white

Yeah, it’s also pretty insulting that they didn’t even bother to come up with a racing game for the Arcade. This is literally just a big fat product placement for its own sake.

I agree. I only bought the skin it because its a dva skin and has nice sfx. Whether I buy it or not blizzard’s behavior will not change. 10 seasons now and people who boycotted the shop are still losing.

And this is exactly the reason why they entire industry keeps selling overpriced skins, because people like you buy them and then try to justify it with excuses like “boycott isn’t working” or “Oh you understand I HAD to buy it because it’s for X character”.

You’re the reason our boycott isn’t working you genius.

Glad that I never pay for skin at all.

Hah that’s just wrong.

The casuals are the reason. The thousands upon thousands of people that spend money on these skins that don’t even frequent these forums, they don’t care enough to outrage at the prices they just throw their money at the screen at the shiny.

The fringe of the playerbase that make it to the forums aren’t going to make a penny of difference to Blizzards bottom line if we all stopped buying skins or the BP.

Imagine D. Va with unlimited booster jets.

You don’t get a pass because you come to the forums lol

Casual or not they’re buying skins for dumb reasons so they’re also part of the problem.

Hmm? I don’t need a pass for anything. What would one require a pass for? Immunity to your insults? Eh give me your best shot young one, I don’t care.

It’s something you can’t do much about. There will always be people who spend money on this game.

If you think not spending money on it solely to protest it is going to achieve anything (other than conserve your $avings), you’re pretty naive.

That ship has sailed long ago with the very first iteration of mtx, Oblivion’s horse armour. That was the industries moment to protest loudly and vehemently before it got out of hand. But we didn’t. We protested, mostly silently, with our wallets like you’re doing now, hoping others would do the same. We let it become a meme to laugh at. It was funny to most, not obnoxious or insulting, and thus evolved into (/m)tx.

No, if you actually want to protest, you need to be loud yourself. Get yourself a platform of hundreds of thousands or millions of viewers and convince others in the industry it’s bad and for the need to avoid that. Find a way to reach the casuals. And it will be a prolonged war of attrition, not an overnight single battle.

I hate MTX just as much as the next guy but you need to be realistic. Individually and silently protesting with your wallet accomplishes nothing except for saving more money. Which you’re likely to eventually spend on something else just as useless for you as in-game skins anyway.

In the past it wasn’t like this. Remember lego bastion?

Part of the reason events suck now is because you have to shell out cash to get some form of enjoyment out of the theme for the season (in terms of fashion)

It just really sucks

The type of collabs you see in Overwatch are not the ones you see in 99% of other games.

They are desperate at this point, they will take anything… they even did a collab with a sunglasses maker FR lol.

Yup, lego cut ties with them mere days before a set related to OW2 was meant to be released (it never got officially released, therefore only few exist in the wild.)

If you’re interested in what the set was look up “Overwatch 2 Titan 76980” The only reason a few of them exist in the wild is because some lego stores had accidentally put them on the shelves early.

It’s also very sad because it included the first and only Mei lego figure :sob:

But that’s every collab, some people don’t care/read One punch Man, I haven’t read it. (not my thing I guess).

Im surprised you didn’t talk about the Le Sserafim bundle, that was way more expensive than this Porsche bundle.

What are you even talking about? If you’re going to call somebody naive and young one at least try to sound like you’re not completely out of touch.

Honestly you sound too dense to bother explaining.

This is not even an event, its just advertisment. Nothing to earn or unlock. Hollow and soulless.

What do you expect to accomplish by protesting with your wallet, and insulting casual players who spend their money on microtransactions?

Do you not understand that you are accomplishing nothing at all, except to save some extra money? And possibly hurt the feelings of the people you insult?

Yes I call you young one and naive because you are very immature. You might be older than me for all I know but you don’t act it.

I would argue you got way more value out of that (still was overpriced in my opinion). This is two skins, the Le Sserafim bundle gave you what 4 or 5 skins plus dance emotes, victory poses, etc? They even did a coin sale for it making it even cheaper. I swear to this day those are the most used skins for Kiri, Brig, and Sombra.

Also, they did a game mode for the Le Sserafim event, a pretty cool music video, and the group performed at Blizzcon if I remember correctly.

Let’s be honest, more OW2 players care far more about their favorite KPOP group or Anime than a luxury car company. The spirit behind the two collabs couldn’t be more opposite. The Le Sserafim collab was received overwhelmingly positive by the community. This Porsche collab is just a desperate product placement advertisement they want you to pay for.
