Highly doubt that Porsche expect sales from someone seeing the skin in overwatch, its more of a way to give the fans already in love with the cars a way to use them in game.

TBF all of the skins are product placement/advertisement. Wearing a skin is advertising that skin to other players.
I agree tho that this is the dumbest product placement they’ve done in awhile. The skins are ugly as sin and why on earth would I want to walk around as a product placement for a car.
Exactly just ignore it.
It’s such a niche thing that the average person wouldn’t even want it.
I don’t have the energy to be mad about something like that.
A true story:
The high-school hallways were buzzing with chatter as the final bell rang, signaling the end of the day. Amelia, a petite girl wearing an oversized D.Va hoodie, trudged along with her head down, trying to avoid eye contact with anyone in sight. She had been anticipating this day for weeks now, ever since she saw the announcement on Twitter( now X) that Blizzard was collaborating with Porsche to release a limited edition D.Va skin for one of their cars. It was a dream come true for her, but little did she know it would also be the catalyst for another round of bullying from her classmates.
Laughter echoed through the halls as a group of popular students approached her. “Looks like your hero is selling out,” sneered Tyler, the ringleader of the group. He held up his phone, showing off the image of the new Porsche Highlight Intro and skin, featuring D.Va looking up at the Porsche logo.
Amelia felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment. “It’s a cool collaboration,” she mumbled, trying to defend her favorite character.
“Yeah, because nothing says ‘cool’ like getting paid by some rich car company to advertise for them.” Tyler shook his head disapprovingly before turning to his friends. “Blizzard really lost touch with its audience if they think we wanna spend $20 on a stupid car skin.” His friends laughed, egging him on.
Someone else in the group, a tall boy named Kevin, chimed in. “And what’s worse? The other skin is for a character whose VA is a supporter of an apartheid state!” More laughter followed.
Amelia couldn’t take it anymore. Tears welled up in her eyes as she stammered, “I… I don’t care! I love D.Va and the design looks amazing!”
Tyler smirked. “Well, you’re not alone in that. A bunch of suckers are probably lining up to waste their money on that overpriced garbage.”
His words cut deep into Amelia’s heart, causing her tears to spill onto her cheeks. The group continued to mock her until they disappeared around the corner, leaving the poor girl standing there, feeling small and insignificant.
Sighing heavily, Amelia wiped her face with the back of her hand, then stuffed her hands into her pockets, shivering slightly. As she walked home, she tried to focus on the positives. Despite the negativity surrounding the Porsche collaboration, the new D.Va skin looked incredible, and she knew there were other fans out there who shared her excitement. Eventually, she reached her house, where she could finally escape the cruelty of her peers and immerse herself in the world of Overwatch, where D.Va ruled the battlefield.

It’s genuinely just not working. There is no reason to miss out. I tried that for a while and it became clear that it wasn’t going to matter. I understand if everyone were to stop doing it, the boycott would work. However this is just idealistic. We are never going to get enough people to boycott for it to actually make a difference or else it would have happened by now. I’ve seen way too many players outside this forum who will buy everything for their main whether they like it or not. People who buy every battle pass regardless of content. But keep living in your fantasy land where this will work.

Honestly a pretty ugly Baby D.Va skin + the mech is literally just a plain white paintjob. I don’t see this selling well anyway.

Personally don’t care…at all, if I don’t like something, I don’t buy it, period. That is the consumer’svexpression of power. Blizzard isn’t making insulting posts calling people who don’t buy their garbage moneyhoarders.

if you don’t want to pay for the whole overpriced bundle, go to hero menu and buy only the overpriced skin like i did (1900 coins).

Listen man, SOME 50-200~ whales can keep a game afloat alone. Your “boycott” is doing barely something as long as people will keep spending money on skins.
You can do it like i do, out of principle I will never spend money on any game made by blizzard (i have 4 microsoft accounts to farm points) but more than that you can’t do anything.
We lost this battle since rockstar came with sharkcards for gta V.
