Iā€™m only 17, can you help me find my mommy I think Iā€™m lost? :disappointed_relieved:

Iā€™m 39 and new to the game: I bought Overwatch because of the Humble Monthly bundle, but FPS has been my favorite genre since Iā€™ve discovered Doom, the game that made me buy a PC.

Welcome to the game, Lainier!

i hope that you enjoy your game time!
Tip: Avoid the General Discussion sub-forum as much as possible until you have formed your own unbiased opinion of the game. Being a FPS veteran, i am certain that you would know what game mechanics to scrutinize. However, as many have commented and i have noticed after about 8-9 months playing this game, this game is not strictly a FPS per se.
Perhaps a FPS with MOBA elements or a MOBA with FPS as its foundation.
To me, it is like an online competitive Borderlands on steroids (Yes, Battle Born but more popular).

Personally, i come from a cRPG and RTS gaming background and i avoided FPS (yes, not really into Doom. Never completed it) because i did not and still do not like games in the First Person perspective. However, for some reason, this game has gripped me like no other shooter game except for Borderlands 1 and 2.

Hello fellow older video game players! I am one of you, an older video game player, and have come to say greetings! I am definitely an older video game player and not a youngster looking to infiltrate your ranks. :eyes:

I do, but game is kinda unplayable without good old pints of delicious stuff.

31 is young-ish.
All things considered. =)

Based off anecdotal experiences, 35 onwards is when things start to decline physically for majority of people and 40+ is really the start of failing eyesight, knees, elbows etc

I was still definitely hooping and having record games in my amateur bball league with my buddies XD

Iā€™m still here at 39, proving that no matter how decrepit and haggard I get I can still do the pew pew things.

Thanks to all who had replied. +1

Ha ha!
It is still a noteworthy achievement. How many of us could say that we were ever in the Top500 much less at an older age!
What patch notes would you like to see?

Indeed! Same here. OW is my first ever competitive FPS despite gaming since i was 9 years old and having see the advent of Doom and Wolfenstein 3D and lived through the Unreal Tournament years.
Hopefully, i can still game for a few more years. =)

Hey, Kilmeran! Glad to see that you are still around on the forums and playing OW.
Happy Birthday in advance and it is so cool to be born on Christmasā€¦although that means you only receive one set of presents per yearā€¦ =(

gaming should definitely be done by older people. it will help keep your brain active. research indicates brain diseases like alzheimers can be linked to basically not ā€œexercisingā€ your brain enough, so the brain deteriorates. its a use it or loose it organ. gaming is great mental exercise.
thereā€™s also dietary supplements you can take to keep you brain healthy as you get older.
neurodegenerative diseases are a huge killer and on the increase so i urge people to take preventative actions and be as concerned about your brain health as much as your body.

Yes indeed.

Although it is arguable that older folks, myself included being 43, can keep up with players less than half our age in games like OW which require, necessitate even, quick twitch reflexes; decent hand-eye co-ordination (especially in view of failing eyesight and cataract).
