I’ve been playing the new mode and it feels so much better than the current 5v5 or the previous 6v6 2-2-2 mode by far, the gamplay feels diverse and has more room for creativity plus the 6 player team is much better overall. I hope blizzard makes the full transition to this mode and make it the main comp
That’s a pretty unpopular opinion but I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I agree that its better than 5v5 though.
Personally I find OQ modes to be pretty awful in general, folks revert to triple tank comps or stack supports which sucks the fun out of the game.
The good news is that it’s only a test and selfishly I’m hopeful that 2-2-2 will end up being the more popular choice.
I’d rather this one over RQ as well, but it doesn’t matter. The tests are to see if the game can work that way. They already know that many people will like these game modes.
(By the way neither mode is balanced)
2-2-2 felt much better to me imo
Min1-Max3 is fun until you run into 3 tanks that actually have an idea how to play their heroes in the format.
It feels way better than 5v5 though. If queue times would still be an issue in 2-2-2, I’d be fine with Min1-Max3!
Not at all
Ive seen a lot of folks indicating they are quite happy with it, and talked with others saying the same
I find I get much better match quality in role-less queue modes, and I prefer the freedom over the unnecessary restrictions of 222/122
I feel like people just say “creativity” when it means stacking tanks for wins, or stacking dps cuz ppl just wanna be dps and make bad comps. I feel sorry for the poor person stuck solo tanking, as a weaker version of the 5v5 tank.
Open queue modes being way less popular than role queue kinda shows where majority of the communities preference is. Tho it’s not totally fair, as balance is made for rq, resulting in open queue modes having a huge tank stacking issue.
I tried it for a bit it was just fine. I think I liked it more than the 5v5 match I had which I’d like to rant about with regards the sudden high support queue times and their poor performance when on your team but I’d digress.
So, there was one instance of min1 max3 that stood out to me where I swapped from Tank to DPS on the next control map. Basically, countering some dive tanks that were causing problems for our support. We still lost the fight but it put stats much closer that round, we almost could have won it, it was that close. So, I think I did enjoy being able to change roles at least, it made it less stressful and offered another comeback potential.
I notice some people talk about x3 tanks but honestly I haven’t seen it much. When it does happen the frustrating tanks to me are Zarya and Wrecking Ball. Bubble protecting everyone or the constant harassment from the tank that doesn’t die due to it’s speed and shields.
Funny enough after playing Marvel Rivals, the Control objective feels too fast. I had a match against 3 tanks where we eventually fought them off from their forward defense pseudo-spawn camp attempt, but the objective was too far out to matter once we did.
I think if we could have our ult charge faster from hitting tanks, which does feel slow now to me (maybe nerfing or removing the tank passive), maybe we could have had the abilities to recover faster. Not sure, since the supports on enemy side could also gain ultimate charge from their own tanks as a battery when pocketing.
I thought in a game that the devs should borrow ideas from Marvel Rivals. Like having players on the point tick capture faster, but slower by default without players. This way players have to decide to either stay on point to capture the objective faster or defend forward and hope to slow the enemy push on a better advantaged position, but it takes longer to secure the round. I don’t know. Also lots of feature ideas that would be a nice QOL but that’s for another thread I guess
I know of no valid data to support this claim
if you know of some, please feel free to point us to it
Oh no problem. Simply look at the top500 leaderboards and how much lower open queue is. Reasonable conclusion is a smaller playerbase, lower ranks. And it’s all in 1 leaderboard instead of spread across 3, so even more reason it should be higher if it was played anywhere near as much.
this isnt valid data to support the claim that was made
I wont be replying to this conversation further until valid data is presented
Nice!
Just played a match that had 2-2-2 comps on both team. That even composition is still my favorite.
I’m glad you like it!
I prefer role queue, cause this feels like triple tank 2.0.
Still better than 5v5, IMO though
People can prefer whatever they like. But pretending that role queue isn’t the more popular mode is something special. And purposely ignoring the leaderboards and pretending that there isn’t an obvious reason why one has much lower ranks as the cutoff….
IMO this is just an indicator that tank balance is busted. How they fix that while making tanks still fun to play… I dont have an answer for that.
But if the balance of your game suggests that having N+1 of a particular role (compared to your opponent) nets a victory, then that role is just too strong. Realistically in an OQ mode, as long as you have the appropriate hero counters, all roles should have equal impact and value per hero.
It is to me as well, they operate as DPS, with more CC and sustaining abilities.
It is skewed because Hazard is still in his pre-nerfed state, so he’s almost always there. But it does make me think, “we really don’t need DPS since tanks just do it better in this game”.
I wouldn’t say its balanced.
I feel like 3 DPS is kinda overpowered. Maybe if the passives would scale depending on number of players in each role, it would feel better (like 3 DPS : 10% healing reduction, 1DPS : 20% healing reduction).
Yet I do think its far better than 222 and it solves the Tank Queue emptiness.
The main thing I love about max 3, min 1 is how you can switch roles mid-game. Your team has more agency in solving the problem if someone is under-performing on tank.
Agreed!
However, I know I can be stubborn about what hero I want to play in a match. And sometimes my teammates are just a stubborn, so no one switches roles/heroes. This can be frustrating but I do like the option to change to almost anyone mid-game (depending on the current composition) if I wish.
…yeah but a lot of people would rather just lose than play a different comp or play a hero they don’t want to play.
In open queue sometimes I just felt like playing dps. Oh we have 5 dps. Im playing what I want to play though too bad I guess we just lose I’m not gonna get pressured into playing support and tank every match
You CAN solve the problem. But a lot of the time people DON’T solve the problem
