The new 6v6 3 MAX 1 MIN is very fun and balanced

This is generally why I believe OQ is better for people who play in larger groups, while RQ is better for solo or duo. RQ’s biggest advantage is consistency. It’s great for solo players because you get to choose what you want to do, and you’re guaranteed that other people do their jobs too.

For OQ, I’ve always felt like that flexibility is amazing… as long as you get people willing to go along with it. As a solo queuer, you have no control over the other 5 people in your match doing anything of value, so you have to either begrudgingly do it yourself, or live with the fact that sometimes you might be playing a 6 dps comp. But when you have a group of players, you have an implicit contract beforehand with everybody, and know who is willing to flex and to what. The experience has always been night and day to me. I’ve never once enjoyed playing OW solo, even at its peak. And that’s likely why I strongly prefer OQ, because I know the people I play with will flex to what we need when we need it, and I can as well when things aren’t working.

For me… 2-2-2 > 1min- 3max > 5v5 RQ.

From most feedback I’ve seen, 2-2-2 seems to be the most popular (not really surprising). As I’ve said before, team 4 just need to find a way to properly incentivise people to flex or play tank. Still think there’s a tonne of creative ways to go about this.

Failing that, I’d still take 1min-3max over 5v5 any day.

Would be so much better if it was min 1, max 2 (tanks) max 3 then you wouldn’t have goats with a token DPS spectator.

It is so far from balanced. I dunno what you’re smoking OP. I’m not even sure I like it more than 5v5.

Not sure how.
OQ or other formats that allow you to shift to other roles midgame will have the same flaw of naturally having a much wider skill range in a lobby.

Let’s say you are Plat in DPS and silver in Tank/Support.
You queue up for RQ as DPS and you are placed with other Plat players. Everyone is generally in the same skill range cause everyone in the lobby queued for a specific role that they are Plat in.

Now you decide to queue up for OQ (or Min1).
Maybe most of the time, you get to play the role of DPS (you’re strongest role) and you win games to get to Plat for OQ (Min1).

Now you enter a OQ (Min1) game and you either can’t play DPS or you want to fill in for another role.
You just went from being Plat to Silver in a Plat lobby.
Now times that by 11 other players.

You now have players that if they play their strongest role in this game… they may all be around the same range, but if they change to other roles that they may be a lot weaker in, the range of skill can significantly widen, just by simply moving over to another role mid game.

Sure, if most players get the role that they are strongest in (or at least match the lobby rank) or if their personal ranks between each of their roles is fairly small… no problem, but if you are like most players that have a role that is their strongest and one or both of their other roles is multiple ranks below your strongest… well, you now have a much wider skill range in the same lobby.
Instead of playing a game that is full of players that are all roughly the same rank, you now have a game full of players that can easily range multiple ranks.

The Devs said that OQ is 3rd down the list in popularity, under RQ QP and RQ Comp and is only 10% of the player base.

It’s well known that RQ is far more popular than OQ.
It’s even regularly joked about that a player can be Gold in RQ and be Masters in OQ because the player base is significantly smaller in OQ.
Pro level plays in RQ.
Top streamers play in RQ.

OQ is way less popular than RQ.

Let’s enjoy playing 6v6 while we can. We know Blizzard’s ego won’t let them revert to 6v6 because, after all, what would be the point of making Overwatch 2 if they kept the original 6v6 model?

You see you experience such things cause you are gm

Common normal gamers like me don’t experience such dumb stuff

The actual chad gamers will always throw gladly than lock such abomination comps,. only the t500 crowd who sold their souls for a sr increase and grinded that awful.comp.for.1.5 years and ruined the game with rq are capable of that

It’s the best iteration this game had from the introduction of that Role lock back in ow1.

Even so, they are not the majority. OQ is less popular.

I find it to be the opposite. The game is already stompy in nature so who ever goes triple tank first gets to melt the enemy before forcing them to switch.

you’re dense anyways

as I said, I get much better match quality in role-less queue

no one is ever forced under any circumstances to switch characters

ever

I agree. It’s better than 6v6 2-2-2 for sure. Flexibility is such a relief for the game.
locked roles generate more toxicity because callings like “heal diff” or “X diff”, if you don’t think DPS are doing great you can just swap to dps

Came back after 2 years just to find out that I missed the 2/2/2 Role Q test by 3 days  :smiling_face_with_tear:

I really do hope that they bring it back soon as permanent modes in Comp and QP with proper balancing.

Gave this mode a try and while it is better than 5v5, it is still not even close to 2/2/2 Role Q.

I am 100% a 6v6 fan but minimum 1 is legit unplayable, worst iteration by far i’m not even touching it, playing rivals until we get the real mode back

Balanced? What planet are you living on? I spent all last night rolling teams that didn’t understand that you need AT LEAST 2 tanks or that going Roadhog was the equivalent to giving the other team free ult charge at no benefit.

Fun? I can see the argument for fun. I don’t agree, but I can see how some might find it more fun. But saying it’s balanced is straight up crazy talk.

Best mode I’ve played in OW2 so far

Getting the weakest player isn’t necessarily a death sentence, you and your mates can play around it

More freedom and tighter games, it just feels better
