Being F2P means Blizzard needs to sell skins to make money. To do so they need both existing players AND new players to play the game.
New players are simply going to run the other way as soon as they see that DPS queue timer hit over 10 minutes. Why would they wait that long to play OW2 when they can go hop on any other FPS and find a match within a minute?
Existing players are going to get bored since the new content being added is minimal and the ones who purchase skins won’t have many newbies to flex on.
But yeah, I can’t see the free battlepass being enough to keep the people around.
The people who stuck with the game for the past 3 years did it just for the free skins.
Doesn’t work that way for OW. Queue times have literally nothing to do with the amount of players. It has to do with most players only queuing up for DPS and almost no one queuing up for support. And no, Fox Girl isn’t going to change that.
Queue times were a total joke in the beta for both DPS and tank.
Not quite. If a larger player base means more DPS players, which is likely to be the case with F2P, the queues will be longer, not shorter.
You have to look at the demography of F2P players. I expect most of the new players will be Fortnite kids who would want to play DPS or at best the overpowered Tank role, leaving a huge demand for Support players. The only way Blizzard can try to fix this is by creating huge incentives to play Support (Priority Pass, Battle Pass progression, Virtual Currency etc.). ‘Foxgirl’ isn’t going to save Support queues for long as much as shills and drones want you to believe.
With a new support coming out at launch, a new tank in December & 2 new supports after that queue times should be just fine for the long haul. DPS might be the shortest queue in the first month with a new support & single tanks
I’m good. There are a lot of DPS players so they may not have the shortest queue, I’m just saying it’s a possibility. You can feel free to paypal me $1000 if it happens though.
Consider it a deal. Lets make sure we both don’t use server issues/bugs as examples. I have a feeling OW2’s launch will be similar to WoW launches. Wouldn’t be surprised if people have a hard time even getting in the first few days
I think they’ll offer some better rewards for flex queue. BP xp and maybe even come currency. That should make queue times better than the pathetic 25 credits they offer now.
What role do you think the extreme vast majority of people will play, if you recruit new players from Valorant, Apex, TF2, Fortnite, Warzone, and Paladins?
Heck, even returning Overwatch players from Pre-Role-Queue, where 1-4-1 was the most common standard for Quickplay. And usually the Tank/Support players there would have preferred to play DPS.
