The Hero with the Highest Healing Potential in Overwatch

You take the total amount of health a character is able to provide, divided by the time it takes to give it plus reload time. That gives you the total theoretical amount of health a character is able to put out.
So for example Roadhog can get 300 HP in one second but the ability has a 8 second Cool-down. There for, Roadhog can get 37 HP per second.
This list does not include heroes such as Roadhog or Mei since they can only heal themselves. This list does include Soldier 76 since, let’s face it, he is basically a healer. Do also keep in mind I’m only including their primary healing ability.

From worst to best

-9- Soldier 76 - 10.15 HP/s
.
.
-8- Brigitte - 16.67 HP/s
.
.
-7- Lúcio - 22.8 HP/s
.
.
-6- Zenyatta - 30 HP/s
.
.
-5- Moira - 38.1 HP/s
.
.
-4- Mercy - 50 HP/s
.
.
-3- Baptiste - 63.2 HP/s
.
.
-2- Sombra - 66.7 HP/s ----- (If hacking a Mega Health-Pack)
.
.
-1- Ana - 84 HP/s

Conclution:
Wait What? Either my numbers are wrong, my calculations are wrong, or this is pure fact. Maybe a DPS has a higher healing potential then 80% of the total supporting cast. Keep in mind that this is purely theoretical. Lúcio and Brigitte are at the bottom (or in this case top) of the list because these two are good at healing the whole team and not a single teammate. Interesting to note that most of these heroes can give well over 3000+ HP in a 3 minute match, yet some player still manage to not get it even in a 6 minute match.

Side Note:
btw this list was made in 7.April.2019, so they have probably nerfed Ana 3 times and buffed Mercy by the time you read this so take it with a grain of salt.

That’s not how it works but ok…

Let’s throw the first curve-ball into this equation. Have you considered Zenyatta’s ultimate healing at the highest possible damage rate being to the lowest health, but highest max health heroes that Zenyatta can still sustain with trans?

Realistically he can build it very quickly.

Or in other words, the highest health targets being dealt 300 damage/s. (At the lowest health possible so he’ll still then be able to get some good healing out of his harmony orbs while he charges up his trans again, doesn’t really matter though, there’s other ways to get the same effect.)

Consistency matters just as much.

mercy pocketing everyone can win you a game but not a static hacked healthpack that is away from the objective.

This is an incredily arbitrary distinction that doesn’t make sense from a balance perspective. You need to be consistent in what you’re comparing: either the whole kit (this would be the best), only the weapon or only abilities, but don’t switch it up on a hero-to-hero basis, because that only gives misleading information.

Sombra’s healing is conditional and map dependent, unlike the other heroes. You need to factor this in if you want a good comparison.

are you sure moira has 38hps? im pretty sure its 80hps

I thought that to until I re-did the calculations. Basically she can not constantly be putting out healing as her ammo depletes within 9.1 seconds and she needs to deal damage with her other arm for 10 seconds to get it back. Over the period she heals she can provide 728 total health excluding the healing-over-time. you take that number divided by 9.1+10

This isn’t even a valid comparison.
Health packs are away from the objective for one.

Health packs have an opportunity cost: ult charge for your healers. An over-reliance on them will cost your team in fewer defensive ults when you need them.

Thank you for commenting

Yes. Moira primary heal has a 53% maximum uptime due to the resource meter, with gives 42.4 hps directly. But than you add the 7.6 hps afterheal (16.25hps at the remaining 47%, since the comparison in the thread is single-target) for 50 hps. And then there’s another 30 maximum hps from the orb (100heal/10 seconds) => that’s 80 hps from Moira before counting the ult.

But that isn’t a hero’s healing potential.

The healing potential is the maximum amount of healing a Hero can output using everything they have available

That is a good point

Here’s what I get when counting abilities except ultimates
Soldier:76 13.6 hps (biotic field)
Lúcio 16 (crossfade) + 6.8 (amp it up) = 22.8 hps
Zenyatta 30 hps (orb of harmony)
Brigitte 16.67 (inspire) + 25 (repair pack) = 41.67 hps
Mercy 50 hps (caduceus staff)
Sombra 53.3 hps (large health pack)
Baptiste 67 (biotic launcher) + 10 (regenerative burst) = 77 hps
Moira 50 (biotic grasp) + 30 (biotic orb) = 80 hps
Ana 82.68 (biotic rifle) + 10 (biotic grenade) = 92.68 hps

Highest single target healing.
And your numbers are still off.

Wow people, how can you do a bunch of calculations and be completely wrong?

Moira’s base heal is 80hps. Her orb does 75hps (300 over 4 seconds)

Edit: I misunderstood the topic at hand. You can disregard my comment outside of me just pointing out what Moira’s burst heal is.

That’s burst heal, which is a different topic.

I mean, it’s not really interesting at all. That’s just kind of how it works. Not all game mechanics are the same. Some healing can be blocked. Some healer’s require positioning to be played effectively and well… heal. Those opportunities are not always there. This is why theory isn’t always correct in practice.

Mercy still has the highest Healing Per Second since she can fly around easily and is extremely hard to kill vs all the other Healers.
