The Forums throughout 2018

January- Mercy mains complaining/arguing/debating on the mercy situation, the hate train starting on tracer and genji for the first time in a long time.

February- About the same, sombra needs buffs train starting, along with sombra is good atm starting.

March- The start of brigitte hate, and More mercy stuff, The hate train for genji and tracer slowing down significantly. The d.va hate train starting slowly

April- The PEAK of Brig hate, mercy threads lowered momentarily due to said brig hate

May- More brig hate and Mercy threads, mercy threads taking over brig threads again, #RevertMercy started to gain momentum, the hanzo rework scandal started spreading, people complaining hanzo is too easy and op now

June- About the same, not much changed, Symmetra rework uproar, people saying shes not that much better and were demanding a revert.

July - the same as June

August- The hate train on Doomfist started which knocked down the brig and
mercy posts, the hate train on tracer and genji also started, sombra threads of buffs and nerfs cooling down a tad bit.

September- Doomfist hate on peak, half of the post were about Doom, mercy, brig, tracer, or genji, most of the post were filled with trolls and toxicity, probably the worst month for the forums thus far. “Sombra skin is too bad because its an expensive cosmetic” train started

October-A bit of positivity started to peak through, most of the trolls have gone
back to hiding, brig and mercy posts at an all time low for a few months.

November- #DeleteBrig movement started, hate on brig at an all time high, and hate on tracer rose because of said brig hate.

December- Doomfist hate, and doomfist love, basically doomfist month, RIP doomfist, you will be missed

(Feel free to reply for additions into this, ill edit it once i see the replies)

Continuing the doomfist hate train in december are we?

The majority of Mercy threads were all from the same person, who in my opinion gave all Mercy mains a terrible name. I actually don’t mind most of the Mercy threads, but there’s always one or 2 that would be so hypocritical and ridiculous it would just make everyone think all Mercy mains were like that.

I think people exaggerate a little when talking about the amount of Mercy threads on the forums.

I running on doomfist hate from first day he was added tbh.

By “mercy threads” i mean both, people for mercy, and against people who like mercy. So even people complaining about mercy threads, anything to do with mercy fits in into the definition

I’m pretty sure that Tracer/Genji hate was more prevalent earlier in the year when dive was the main meta of high-level comps (like OWL). And don’t forget when D.Va was hated for a while (can’t remember when) when the official statistics were released for top 10 Heroes for each rank and D.Va was always in the top 2 and often the most selected.

Can you give me the specific months/time it was more relevant so i can add in to the list :p?

These forums are dark. I know exactly what to expect every time I log in. I’m not sure if this is a problem for the developers to solve or if its just a part of the current state of gaming.

Tracer/Genji: Jan-Mar (pretty much pre-Brig).

D.Va: March (link to first post: Trickle down meta isn't real - #5 by JeffreyKaplan)

Feb-Aug = The Sombra Wars

DPS mains: “Supports are broken!”
Support mains: “DPS are broken!”
Tank mains: “I could really go for a Judge Reinhardt skin.”

Here I thought every month was Mercy Month…

Guilty as charged.

You forgot Hanzo’s arc!

Aim-lovers: “All tanks and supports (bar Ana and Zen) are broken!”

Yup, these sorts of fisticuffs will just keep popping up on these forums, especially considering how many different groups OW tries to appeal to.

Not quite; the Mercy “grouped feedback” threads (i.e. the megathreads that had to keep being created due to how many people kept arguing about Mercy) have stopped.

I just opened the forums today to over 300 unread posts in Mercy topics

Better than when there were about 20k posts a month.

Yes

No, they literally dominated the feed. Small posts were constantly being created, and of course the posts that got big were constantly bumped to the top.

hey u forgot our revert symmetra threads . lol
