Thats because mass rez was instant. Most people asking for it back are asking for a cast time and los which leads plenty of time to counter.
Honestly I doubt many people really care what they do with Mercy
But you can’t deny it’s very annoying seeing the same Mercy topics over and over, every day, talking about the same things, for what has to be around a year or more now
It also leads to it being a garbage ability that just flat out makes Mercy a worse hero, which I’m sure is fine for some people who think she has 0 value outside of mass rez or just desperately want that specific impact but that doesn’t bode well to people who do find her current set valuable as is
Yeah, if youre stupid enough to try rezzing a whole dead team.
That being said theres plenty of better suggestions, some including removing rez altogether. You may find Mercy posts annoying, but you can just ignore them.
As i’ve said before, people are going to keep leaving feedback as long as theyre not satisfied. Making posts to counter that isn’t helping.
Going by this logic Nanoboost has no counter either because
The internet is full of things things that are annoying, and that are easily avoidable by not reading them. Players are unhappy with an aspect of the game, and they’re complaining about it in the designated place for such complaints. The fact that it’s still going strong is just an indication that they’re still upset. It might be repetitive, but the repetition is just a symptom of discontent.
Honestly, I think Blizzard is mostly to blame for this. They haven’t been handling Mercy in the most adroit way, and they haven’t been communicating in the most effective way either. I think a lot of this could have been avoided (and could be mitigated) with some more care on their part.
You’re not wrong
Of course it depends what the Nanoboost is used for
You can’t counter the healing component but if its used to be paired with Dragonblade that can be countered and by connection you countered nanoboost
Of course but its not like I’m the one making these posts anyway
And these are one of them
which is why people complain
and that’s how it will always go
So then Trans isn’t a Grav counter?
I mean after all, that’s just dealing with the after effects of Zarya using Grav.
Considering the the balance lead declared as of no they have no real plans to fix the bad heroes as a whole because it’s too hard. Honestly I’m amazed and a little ashamed how we’re not calling them out more for that.
mercy is one of the most popular characters in the game, if mercy players all suddenly quit they’d buff or rework her.
Grav is just a set up ult. By itself it accomplishes little to nothing and doesn’t need a counter of any sort
Trans in this situation is used to counter heavy damage that you might take if you’re being hit by another ult or the whole team at once
Like I know what you’re saying it happened therefore it wasn’t countered ignoring stuff like Defense matrix and Deflect technically countering before it can happen but Grav doesn’t instant kill 1-5 people while mass rez instantly revives 1-5 people, that’s hardly comparable
Probably should’ve specified GravDragons/GravBlade tbh.
It’s a legitimate discussion where both sides can make reasonable arguments. One either engages in it, or ignores it.
But the original post does neither. It’s not a comment about repetition on the forums. It tries (in a particularly bellicose tone) to silence the argument, because the OP supports the side that prefers the status quo.
and I’m sure they have and sometimes continue to do even now
But its the same discussions, points, arguments, for the past year
There is absolutely nothing new to this
Trans counters both of those and even then its the dragon/blade that’s being countered not so much the grav
although grav nanoblade
Well it is technically countering both at once. The Grav itself is what enables the Dragons to actually do the job.
But still, saying that counter-ulting or just dealing with mass res to negate it isn’t countering it is basically like saying counter-ulting any other ult isn’t countering it.
If Genji pops his blade and my Widow dinks him, she countered his ult. If Moira uses Coalescence and I hack her as Sombra, I countered her ult. If Mercy used Res and Rein proceeds to Earthshatter everyone and we wipe them again, he countered her ult.
What Pacifist is trying to describe is the difference between countering an ult and the effect of the ult
If Genji uses a Dragonblade he uses that to kill people, that is the effect of his ult
If you kill him during it or before he kills someone then yes you countered it
but the purpose and effect of Mass rez is to get people up, as soon as she gets someone up with rez there is nothing left to counter
Again i’m not saying its not difficult to kill someone again after mass rez but the fact that the rez got off in the first place could not be countered outside of killing the Mercy before she got to press Q
Pacifist is saying “Dealing with Rez’s aftereffects isn’t countering it.” Which is completely false.
Here’s a better one: If Sombra EMPs and the enemy Zenyatta was outside of the radius and uses Trans, he countered Sombra’s EMP. He’s not dealing with the aftereffect, he’s straight up counter ult’ing the EMP, effectively negating it.
If Mercy rez’s, and her team dies again, you’ve countered that ultimate and unlike most other ultimates, benefited from the extra ult charge for you and your teammates.
If you negate an ultimate in general, you countered it. Plain and simple. There’s no silly “it’s not a direct counter! you’re dealing with aftereffects!” Did said character use their ultimate? Yes? Was the effect nullified and dealt with? Yes? Congratulations you countered it.
So two things I kinda wanna give my two cents on:
First, it’s the argument being presented currently: Is killing the people Mercy rezzes considered countering the rez? I think so, yeah. The entire point of countering is to render the ability useless. By using an ult like RIP-Tire or Self Destruct as Mercy rezzes, you can easily wipe the team all over again. That renders the rez useless as the people she brought back just died again almost immediately after they regained control. I’d say that’s a counter.
In fact, a lot of people wanting to rework Mercy with Rez on her Q are talking about giving cast time or removing invulnerability which adds more counters to it. More direct counters.
Secondly, is actually more of two things.
The first thing is the whole “rework vs. revert” thing. A revert would be bringing her back completely to where she was before the rework. If they were to put rez on Q but change how it works, however, then I’d consider that a rework. For example, one of the rework suggestions I am a strong advocate for is Blade-Rez. Like Dragonblade, in the sense that her base kit will remain the same but for one key change. For Dragonblade, it changes Genji’s weapon from shurikens to a sword. For Mercy, it will allow her to rez as many as she can within a given time frame. She can still use her beams, she can still use GA, no flight, no chain beams, no bonuses whatsoever, aside from the ability to rez. She’ll need to rez each person one at a time, and if needed we can add in a small cast time.
And funnily enough, if I remember correctly, the person who suggested this was XQC. Not a Mercy main. Quite the opposite, as a matter of fact. And I love the idea of that change and would love to try it out!
So, to sum that part up, if it’s a complete revert to where she was before the rework with no further changes in that moment, it’s a revert. If you, however, take a previous idea and change how it works before adding it in, then it’s a rework. It doesn’t matter if it’s similar or has the same outcome, the way it works is different. Therefore, it’s a rework. The Blade-Rez idea is a rework. It rehashes some old ideas, but it’s still a rework.
If we follow the logic that anything with Mass Rez is a revert, then this entire rework for Mercy was a revert because I believe she had a version of Valk and 50HPS back in beta. This wasn’t a Mercy rework in that case; it was a revert. One big, unbalanced revert.
The second part of this, is this quote right here:
This is really not a valid argument for why she is not going to be changed imo. Plenty of Mercy players liked Mass Rez Mercy, as is evident by all the threads about it. I liked Mass Rez, and I’m not even a Mercy main. I flexed to her when the team needed a main healer. That was it. There were, however, some Mercy and non-Mercy players that didn’t. Despite there being Mercy and Non-Mercy players who prefer old Mercy over today’s Mercy, we got today’s Mercy. So having some people that prefer x over y, it doesn’t mean that y is completely impossible. A rework is still possible for Mercy. They’ll likely focus on GOATS and Bastion and Reaper and such first, but a rework for Mercy is still possible later down the road.
If the rework first happened because of people voicing their discontent with how Mass Rez worked (especially after invuln and the SR bug), then I don’t see any reason to try to shut down people voicing their discontent with how Valk Mercy works.
To be fair the healing can be prevent thus countered with anti nade, but that would be me being nitpicky.
Granted, Rez needed more preemptive counterplay, but was not as uncounterable as some people like to paint it.
IMO the main reason it was hated as much is because every other ult in the game aside from mass resurrect could be stopped:
- Before it was used
- While it was being used
- After it was used
With mass resurrect, it didn’t have #2. It was instant. And you couldn’t really counter an instant ultimate during and after since it’s already been done.
[edit] I should clarify, it didn’t mean it couldn’t be countered after. It was just in a much less cut-and-dry method in comparison with every other ultimate in the game.
I think a rework isn’t a revert tho.
I’d even be happy with just a revisit to her E and/or Q. Or even just her Q.
If valkyrie stays, I think with the high damage flying around RN, it could use some looking at - maybe making it more clutchy with some compensation nerfs, as well as a potentially slower charge rate?
Dunno…
