She cant be balanced around cheesey taxi bot or sentry bomb strats and expect to be a usable hero.
At this point is obvious that Blizz doesnt want her to be a viable damage hero because of TP being Rezz 2, a mechanic that went from being strong and gated behind the hero’s performance, to being a watered down yet still too strong mechanic shoved into a basic ability, completly unrelated to the hero’s performance and way too spammeable/accessible for such a mechanic.
And look! Every single nerf that Sym had for daring to be ‘‘in her meta’’ targetted anything and everything but TP, who is now even more of a taxi bot skill that ever before. Her damage is on tatters and her survivability has never been adressed. Her pickrate plummeted to sub-1% yet again.
At this point, TP needs to be removed as a basic ability (re-added as an ultimate) and buff Sym’s entire kit to be functional. Otherwise Sym will continue to be weighed down by an unbalanceable mechanic that should have never become a basic ability.
It’s fine to act as sym’s all in one engagement, disengagement and utility tool if it’s as available to recast/repurpose/move around like old 3.0 tp.
EDIT: if it wasn’t clear, the point of the highlights are to show that there are plenty more uses other than taxis and “sentry bombs”, issue is that many of these uses are locked away practically because of the cd mechanic infinite tp has unlike old 3.0 tp.
Ive encounter some players like that as well, they seems to forget that the one making everything possible for a symm to be a tracer is in front of them yet they don’t even try to destroy the pad.
I’ve had this wild thought in my head for the last few days.
What if TP was removed, except Sym could now TP between her sentries? They would be numbered 1, 2 and 3, and she would use interact to cycle through them.
For instance if she threw all 3 then quickly tapped interact 3 times, she would jump right to the location of sentry 3. One more tap and she starts back at sentry 1. If a sentry has been destroyed then she can no longer TP there; she would skip to the next sentry in line instead.
The sentries would have to deploy faster and maybe have more health. Her teammates wouldn’t be able to TP but screw them anyway.
Would love to see her skill cap increased even further. I’m not sure if these turrets would still fire or not. My gut tells me that either the CC or the damage would need to be removed for balance reasons, but not both. Just a guess though.
I think it’s pretty clear now that the devs don’t like turret bombing as a strategy.
Seems like the easiest way to keep Sym strong while preventing turret bombing would just be to prevent Sym’s turrets from being teleported once they’re armed.
Sym should of never switch from Support To offensive imo. Her rework was lazy and half assed…
My support rework idea: Symmetra Sup Rework Idea
they should of focused on her support role and giving her healing abilities.
Heck, even if the offensive rework, they should of completely revamped her entire kit. But not one ounce of creativity was put into her. Fail of a rework.
