Symmetra changes [confirmed]

Blog post here: Overwatch 2 Beta: Week One Developer Blog - News - Overwatch

  • Secondary Fire projectile size increased from .4 back to .5
  • Secondary Fire charge time reduced from 1.2 seconds back to 1 second
  • Teleporter cooldown reduced from 16 seconds to 12 seconds

Doesn’t seem to be in the beta, but this is what they’ve done internally. A step in the right direction. Still don’t like her orb tickle damage staying…

Did ya miss the part about the faster primary fire charge speed?

No, that change isn’t confirmed

This is really nothing.

The DPS Hero still does 33% less damage.

(Which is really 66% less then avg DPS)

Still 90 damage is trash for this game lol. If they’re gonna make her orbs weaker but faster, they should’ve reduced the charge time to .8 at least to make up for the fact that it’ll take 3 well aimed orbs to kill a squishy. She will be a bit better but still not what was needed.

Yeah it’s great they’re reverting some nerfs but I think they’re reverting the wrong ones. I’m okay with the 1.2s charge time and smaller orb if it means we can keep 120 damage. The lower damage orb feels really bad

"Additionally, we have another change for her in mind that we’re currently testing internally. This iteration charges her primary fire beam to level 3 faster to help compensate for less tanks and shields to charge it up. We’re not sure if this change will stick, but our goal is to make Symmetra feel more natural in Overwatch 2. "

Sounds good :eyes:

Honestly just seems like they moved some numbers and just went home.

We will see.

I would rather keep the size of the projectile if it dealt decent damage.

fun fact:

it wont matter in end.

extremely niche hero has subpar dmg even in her niche.

nobody needs sym - just a fail design hero.

Just realised they said "Symmetra is already a statistically strong hero"

Where???

In one of the recent blog posts they literally say she has a high winrate but a very low pickrate  make your minds up Blizzard

Fair warning….”internally testing” is not the same thing as “will be patched in today”

Don’t be surprised if she’s gets none of things right NOW

also yet another indication that there are zero intentions of making her a support….but I’m sure people will continue to believe/expect it to happen

Less damage and less fire rate was really bad, so this is better. Now they are the same firerate as before, easier to hit than the previous version because they’re bigger, and easier to aim because they fly way faster.

Should make for more consistent damage than the OW1 version, though I still think 100 damage shots would be right on the money.

I think the bigger reason it doesn’t matter is due to people never being satisfied with Sym. Personally, I think her Damage version in OW1 is perfect, but people kept demanding she be something she isn’t. She was made to hold an area and make it difficult for enemies to enter that area.

Instead, people wanted her to be Zarya. Some crazy rush down damage hero, so even if she was perfectly designed, they’d still hate her for reasons out of her control.

This isn’t live yet.

Still have 16 seconds on teleporter.

That’s because they can’t give her buffs that would fix her fundamental design problems without gutting the power on sentry bombs.

[OW2] Core design problem with Symmetra

I think its because of what I said. People want Sym to be something she can’t be instead of just objectively taking her for what she is. I think Sym was perfectly fine as a hero who makes it difficult for heroes to approach an area, and no matter how fast paced the game is, a hero like that is still important.

Instead, people want her to be Zarya. They want her to press W at people with her beam the whole game. No thought, no planning, no nuance, just hold W with beam and get kills. If she’s not that, she’s poorly designed in their eyes.

Sym mains are Mercy mains - crying alot, but cant think in the right spots. You cant make niche heroes like Sym to powerful. Torb was never Meta - never heard Torb mains crying about that.
