Sym changes thread

I was hoping to start a thread about what Sym needs to not be an easy throw. I’m audio ya to see what people think. Drop the ideas below

I would love for people to stop suggesting to move Sym back to support, Sym 2.0 wasn’t the greatest, Sym 3.0 is the best version of her imo just sucks that she had so many nerfs if some of those were to get reverted I’d be very happy with her

Revert to pre-infinite Teleporter. After the cooldown changes it feels so clunky to use and really neutered her survivability with all the unnecessary downtime.

Have her dps on her beam go as such

80/120/180 and let it charge at a rate of 1 second per ramp up instead of 1.3

Make her teleporter deploy faster and reduce cooldown

Increase ammo capacity

That’s all you really need to make Symmetra perfect imo

Exactly this. I wouldn’t mind more range on her M1 too.

That could be nice but in conjunction with a faster charge up time and better level one this might be too much, and I have a feeling she’d be nerfed into the ground by community reaction

There are many solutions for Symmetra but the smallest fix to make her viable and “good” to play again would be to replace her Teleporter with her old Barrier. Being a Taxi is extremly niche, unfun and the big reason why the rework failed

So here is what I would do:

  • Teleporter replaced with old Photon Barrier
  • Photon Barrier cooldown reduced to 8 seconds

This would make her more viable in a variety of situations, due to her no longer having the often useless Teleporter taking both an ability slot and buff potential

And this as follow-up changes:

  • Primary Fire beam width increased drasticly
  • Primary Fire Damage down to 50/100/150, Range down to 10 Meters.
  • ONE OF: Base Health increased to 250 OR Added Shield Generator as alternative Ultimate (The Interact Key switches Ultimates after first Q press)

The changes for her beam are supposed to upgrade it for the current game. Since Barriers were nerfed all accross the board, it no longer has a purpose in it’s current form. With her beam working better against Squishes (especially Flankers) and her survivability being increased, she should be able to fight other heroes without massive pockets and allows her to use her beam more often instead of just spamming Orbs.

agreed. Especially in such a fast paced game as overwatch the teleport really dosnt make her any more “mobile” rather just cuts out choke points. They need to rework this in my opinion to make her more viable

i mean
i want a support symmetra
just not 2.0 symmetra, because she wasn’t a support

i’d of way more preferred her beam or alt fire to do something with allied shields

she even had a voice line datamined or something that was something about “augmenting your shields”

that doesn’t sound like she’s adding any additional shield health to a target, it more sounds like she’s amplifying them or changing their properties

Two options …
Sym2.5

  • keep her new beam
  • keep the current turrets but add 1 more to place
  • get back to piercing orbs but make them move a little faster
  • get her old ult back
  • get back the throw shield and make it a little larger

Sym3.0 + buff

  • let her chose between TP or SG to place or make it a hybride
  • reduce TP activation time to 0.2s or instant
  • give her back piering orbs

Passive shield generator aura that works like Lucio’s healing aura would be dope but not sure if they wanna go that route

an alternative to the sustain passive is to up her burst to make her time needed in her effective range to do something smaller to let her more reasonably be able to contribute once in effective range.
