How to be on the path to fixing sym without a rework

Problems

  1. effective range not matching her mobility options to get in and out of it
  2. sustain not matching her delays esp given her effective range

both lead to extremely long periods of time where sym is outside of her effective range, i.e. where she’s unable to contribute well.

Solution

  • revert to old 3.0 tp cd mechanic (the one that wasn’t infinite)
    • to solve issue 1.
    • we have over a years worth of data showing old 3.0 tp not being OP at all.
  • 15m primary
    • to address issue 2 slightly but moreso a QoL to make primary less situational (i.e. better as a finisher)
  • 30m/s orbs (can have compensation nerfs on turret dps and orb hitbox size and/or splash size where needed)
    • to address issue 1 and 2 by giving her more effective range so she can output better/more consistent value from around midrange
  • sym activates her shield hp regen when she interacts with her tp (regen can still be interrupted like usual)
    • to address issue 2.
    • Given the above changes on her weapon make them more general, but still not going to compete with the TTK of other heroes, having this sustain passive is unlikely overkill esp since it’s so easily cancelled.

You can’t fix symmetra without a rework

The first time she was viable they nerfed all of her kit

highly disagree. she got nerfed because people (including devs) had more fear than reason/logic.

sym right before infinite tp only needed something to address her sustain issues. and from there, she will be in a state where she only needs number tweaks.
