[SVB] Community Debate [ft. Stylosa, Fareeha, UnsaltedSalt]

Yes, with pineapple.

Stylosa still plays?

Notes:

Steamer mode:

  • Queue scrambler
  • Name changing (for free for streamers)
  • Hidden username from streams

Very easy to throw, very difficult to carry, leads to toxicity

Certain words should just be never allowed

Apex avoids a lot of toxicity by having a fully fledged non-verbal comms system

Hero choice might matter too much

I’m honored to be included  /s

You can’t address player toxicity without acknowledging Streamer/Esports culture is the biggest contributor.

Most
Players want to be these streamers/Esports pros, or just be looked at as “smart” for parroting/agreeing with an opinion their favorite streamer has.

I wonder can you permanently block chat on an individual player?

How about no? If I want to name change, I would steam to air and get one too?

click button
all names on screen turn into the character name

With sufficient amount of followers

So special benefits based on player popularity? Definitely doesn’t sound right.

I don’t think so. I think he just makes cringe content these days.

Special benefits for people who have problems based specifically on that popularity, who are also basically offering free marketing and community management of the game.

An editable line of text is the least they could do for that service.

I feel like the reward for that is getting so close to the devs. Have enough followers and community acknowledgment? You get to be in their discord and have a higher chance of being heard.

It’s not as if their high followings are only beneficial to Overwatch.

Yeah, not so much.

They are offering a service to the developers.

And editing a line of text costs next to nothing.

It would be unprofessional for the devs to not have modes and features that attract streamers to OW2.

An excessively tiny investment, for a lot of overall monetary value to Blizzard.

Then they should get payed then

Then why is it even an issue that they need to pay for it so often? Why can’t all players have this option of free name changes?

I’m totally fine with this. Stuff like replays and enhanced spectator options are brilliant examples of it. But all those features are all accessible to all players, regardless of their following. You can add benefits for streamers without making them inaccessible to everyone (even if not everyone will not use said features)

Because you literally have these streamers spending hundreds of dollars to avoid harassment.

As for why it’s an issue, dunno, devs said they were concerned about it being abused in some way.

Where as offering to maybe 200 top streamers, is very manageable.

Damn these guys must have gone to Harvard

Steam gives us username changes free. Blizzard is just being greedy here.

I think this is what should be focused on personally!

Well they could just offer it to everybody in Top500/GM who has verified by phone.
