Supports got a carefully considered, targeted balance patch

Tanks got a ham fisted, blanket change that doesn’t apply remotely equally; hurts bad tanks more than good, and even goes as far as buffing one of the strongest in Zarya.

This just isn’t an acceptable way to balance and maintain a game.

What happened?

OWL happened.

^^ OWL happened so all patches are to balance for the highest tier

The Support patch had OWL in mind.

What the hell have the developers been doing with this patch? We had months of silence and all they can manage is to phone this ill considered unthoughtout mess in?

I’m sorry but it really does look like Blizz do hate tanks if they can’t even be bothered to take the time to look at how this hurts heroes in the class that are already underperforming at every level of the game.

What does balance for OWL actually mean anyway? Because half the heroes that end up being used there - even if not even problematic- get nerfed to the ground anyway just because the players don’t like them. RIP Sombra, RIP Junkrat etc.

OWL is 5 weeks away, and a patch has to be ready in 3 weeks.

What have they been doing since Blizzcon?

are you just now realizing how incompetent blizz is? they’ve been making bad “balance” changes for the longest

It means that’s what is making them the “most monies”, so that is the crowd they are prioritizing over the rest of the 99% of players.

Doomfist nerf patch, then holidays where a lot of staff was putting in their PTO for the year.

Sounds like horrendous management. Being so unready for a new OWL season that all they can do to panic break GOATS is this? It wasn’t exactly like it was new back at the start of November.

Possibly. I’m betting one or both of those CFO’s they just fired had something to do with how restricted their actions have been.

Here’s hoping the new CFOs aren’t penny pinchers, who can’t see long term growth.

Armor was a broken mechanic.
Some tanks have it.

Brig made this inevitable.

I still think the tank category is better off though. I would certainly appreciate a “tank patch” after all this.

I’ve been worried about something like this current patch happening. For almost a month

❌ OWL could disallow GOATs if needed

The patch is fine. D.Va needed this, in fact, she will likely remain a strong meta pick even after this goes through. She has been broken for almost 2 years. In fact, she has been the most broken hero in the game historically. Not Tracer, not Mercy. But D.Va. She has been the single reason why every meta was hard to deal with. More specifically, matrix. This change will somewhat remedy that. Will leave some counterplay to it. It will finally be possible to get a grav off and hitscans won’t have every helix/flashbang eaten. For how easy the ability was to use, it was simply too powerful due to its range, uptime and availability.

As for the rest of the tanks, it hurts Rein only slightly and it hurts Winston a bit, but that’s fine as it also nerfs dive.

Underperforming ?

Tanks are absolutely not underperforming on the ladder ,MAYBE underpicked ,but that’s not because they’re bad ,that’s just because people don’t like to play them

In fact, this is all the balancing team’s fault for releasing D.Va vastly overtuned after her rework. The rework was supposed to be a net nerf, but instead, it was a net buff. Then they refused to balance her for months. She could literally erase a squishy prior to the MM nerf and they left her in that state for how long? 5-6 months? And then when it was still obvious that she’s overperforming, it took them almost 8 months to nerf her again? Excellent balance. It’s hilarious that she’s also a must pick in a meta that’s supposedly bad for her (100% charged Zarya non-stop, CQC combat, plenty of things that go through DM such as Rein and Brig swings and Zarya primary) and yet she only mildly underperforms over Zarya who is actually playing in the best possible conditions for her…

Hammond, Orisa and Roadhog are underperforming.

Because Rein is immune to criticism and nerfs.
He’s special or something.
Anyone portraying him negatively gets ridiculed.
