I honestly don’t feel the same way
I’m having a decent time on support

Only people who don’t understand this game hate stuns. A core component, that separates this game from being a twitch shooter. This was never a pure skill-based game.
Yes you not understanding the core component of this fps.
The core component is competitive, like Kaplan said in 2015.
From a pc gamer interview to kaplan called " Blizzard’s blueprint: Overwatch as a competitive FPS"
"With that, one of our ultimate inspirations on the Overwatch team is Hearthstone, and we feel like what Hearthstone did was they took a very competitive type of game, you know PvP-only collectable card game, people have been playing it for years, there’s a lot of really skilled, highly adept players out there, and they figured out a way to make it approachable for everybody without sacrificing the competitive aspect of the game.
And I think we’re really studying and looking at Hearthstone for how we want to approach Overwatch in the fact that we want to have competitive modes of the game that speak to competitive players, we wanna embrace that competitive spirit, but we also want to make sure that the game is not just a spectator sport, that it feels very approachable to players who’ve never even picked up an FPS before, that they would be very welcomed and have a place in the game as well."
Some shield, stuns and some heroes was added to make the game more accessible.
But was too much and the game become so casual oriented they needed to rework it after few months from the launch removing hero stacking.
And this was only the start.
All the big changed Blizzard have done, was to achieve their original plan for Overwatch.
Overwatch 2 is the more near to achieve it after ow1 failed gameplay.
The minute they started balancing for competitive, this game started sucking (with the exception of stacking).
Only because you not like it doesn’t means is bad.
Ow1 gameplay always was a terrible casual mess, needed to be balanced.
And Competitive was the real objective of Overwatch.
Ow1 was simple an error.
Brig has a shield. And the hack does not reach farther than brig’s mace boop ability.
A good dive player can outpace a Bap and Mercy’s mobility and run the hell over Ana /zen, which leaves Moira/Lucio/Brig/Kiriko. And that belies one of the problems; there are so few support heroes that when half of them suck, you only have 3-4 heroes to pick from, heroes you might not have any playtime in or interest in playing.
Like you CAN absolutely counter dive and play heroes that can survive easily, but are you having fun? Personally, constantly playing backline babysitter and Genji/Sombra repeller is not fun for me. Especially not when they’re very strong and have way more tools than I do to get the job done.
I played mostly Mercy/Ana in ow1 and now they’re near unplayable in QP because nobody peels, and every flanker is out to get you in specific. Yes I can swap. But I don’t want to play anti flanker for the 100000 time. It’s so flipping boring.
You mean fun. Why play sweats on overwatch, when it’s so much easier on other games, where true balance exist. It’s impossible to balance cooldowns without making it boring to play.
Out of box heroes had a clear/defined playstyle, now I have to press 3 buttons, where 1 would’ve sufficed. Tell me, where’s the skill in removing hard cover? Sounds like it’s easier for damage. Where’s the skill in that? What higher brain power is used outplaying cooldowns/shields, and stuns when they’re removed?
What’s the point of brig whipshot knocking heroes away from here effective melee range?, (the thing needed to keep inspire up).
Just small examples of how the morons balancing this game made it easier for the 1%. If anything, less skill is used more than ever.
Yes is alot more fun to have a more dinamically game where you need real team coordination and more game awareness.
Always better of the no skill camping behind shield or far from the fight.
Specially considered the real Competitive orientation Overwatch should haved from the start.
Because this was the plan for Overwatch.
Overwatch was always planned to be primarly a Competitive game.
You can not like, other players will like it.
Blizzard need only to adapt the few heroes not in line with the new Competitive gameplay.
Broski, I am not advocating for more shields or slower fights. I want more supports to be viable.
Yeah, this.
Ana is still strong but she can and often does feel outright horrible to play. The pressure is constant, the lack of mobility makes you feel utterly hobbled since teams are more scattered than ever.
Also, even if you can still carry with her it just takes one person on the other team to realize what you’re doing and shut you down (don’t even have to kill you, just pressure you).
Brig is certainly not an option everywhere. Rush/deathball? Sure. Anywhere else very spotty. Push maps also have very long sight lines where sometimes you just simply don’t have the range to get whipshots so you just kinda stand there awkwardly.
So that leaves Kiriko, Moria and Lucio. Or on split teams just Kiriko cause even Moira and Lucio can’t reposition quickly enough.
Ok this is a different thing.
Sorry but every time is always someone want stuns or shield.
Surely Blizzard must do something for ana and zenyatta primarly.
Baptiste and Brigitte can survive better but still feel limited compared to others supports.
We can only hope they add the Kiriko balancing with other supports, present and future.
Personally i don’t dislike to see even some CC for supports, a thing totally different from stuns.
More skills about area denial, slow, root and similar.
I see Blizzard too much concentrated on knockback for supports, when there are more cc.
With a good balancing of the abilities this things can add something good for the Competitive side too.
This is one of the main issue for supports player. It’s boring to play the same stuff all over. Take Ana as an example, while true she does have nade and sleep, stuff is on a long cooldown, and its not like you can land sleep 100% of the time.
I just want supports to be more fun to play.
Mercy / Brig and ana need the most attention in my opinion but I think toning down some dive heroes will help support more than buffs. Sombra and Genji are very good in low and mid elos and it’s chasing away new players who would have otherwise enjoyed supporting.
(except mercy, she was on the lower end of things in ow1 and only got dumpstered by the change to 5v5, she needs some sort of rebalancing outside of her survivability)
The did cause it by removing some major counters to flankers without any nerfs.
Mercy is a different situation.
I think they want to keep her an entry level hero and nothing else.
In the years the changes they have done and not done, seems Blizzard don’t want to make it an hero adapt to all the ranks.
No they are chasing away new players inadapt to a Competitive fps.
This is perfectly normal.
No they reduced no skill features inadapt to a Competitive fps.
Now players must in general relay more on their personal skills and team play skills.
Blizzard not have to hand holding players anymore.
Some nerf will be needed but they can’t change the Competitive oriented gameplay there is now.
I know that there are hardcore players out there that will claim otherwise but as a casual player who enjoys popping into a game here and there once a week or month, it’s been impossible for me to enjoy playing support. The game has basically become a walking simulator in that context.
Yes, yes, the hardcore fans will rant “learn to play!” Dudes, it’s a game not a job. I should be able to have fun playing support without it requiring me to pick the game up as a part time enterprise. I shouldn’t need to “want to improve” to engage with support game play, even at the lowest level of play.
You can make her entry level and still have a high skill ceiling. That’s what she had in ow1, and they have good incentives to make her not garbage (her massive fanbase)
Not when your entire business moddle revolves around getting and retaining as many new players as possible. They don’t get money from people just playing anymore, thet need players to actually like the game and want to spend money on it. That includes people who are not competitive and play for fun.
