Support is the easiest and most broken role, just made this post because people were discussing it.
Support has the easiest heroes Moira and Mercy (No skillful aspects, no hard mechanics,
low gamesense or aim requirement)
If we compare it to an easier hero in Tank (For example, let’s say Winston he has a super high gamesense requirements, and his ultimate is one of the hardest in the game to use actually a decently difficult hero especially in the current metas.)
But lets compare hardest heroes
Aim : Widowmaker/Tracer (DPS)
Mechanics : Wreckingball / Doomfist (Tank)
Gamesense : Probably give this to Tracer (DPS)
What is supports hardest hero? I’d say Ana
Ana Analysis
Increased hitbox on primary for allies
Large projectile on sleepdart
AOE Nade
Locked on Ultimate easy to use Difficult aspects for Ana ---------------------------------------------
Gamesense she has no mobility so has to position well
Landing primaries on enemies can be hard.
Tracer analysis
Hard tracking
Hard movement
Hard ultimate
High gamesense requirement No easy aspects to her kit.
Lucios definetly hard I’d say his harder than most DPS and Tanks (Not all) but I would say wreckingball beats him out in terms of movement mechanics requirements.
Doom definetly doesn’t imo require more mechanics than wreckingball I know because I play doom and am pretty good at him but ahve never been able to get a grasp on wrecking ball.
I have always found wreckingball easy mechanics wise but that is just because I came from way back cs1.6 mods that hookshotted you around the map even faster than ball. (not doom though doom is hard)
For example I think diaging on doom is alot easier than the wrecking ball flat wall piledrive or 180 heat. (Where you smash into a wall and then redirect off it backwards)
I think wrecking balls techs are alot harder which makes him harder at the skill ceiling I think just my opinion though.
Definitely not all of mercies techs have gotten easier since OW1 and even in OW1 her superjump and other techs was was easier than wrecking balls techs or dooms diags.
No a lot of them are very niche and not very useful no point in learning them, prop jumping I know and reverse GA tech used to be useful in OW1 before they made it part of the game.
Only techs I bothered learnin in OW1 for mercy
Anything with bunnyhop I don’t consider a tech because almost every hero can use bunny hop e.g wrecking ball doomfist mercy lucio etc
Most of them are a lot easier than wrecking ball and doomfists main techs if you want to talk about niche techs doom can do an upward into downward diag tech which is incredibly niche and useless and wreckingball has some insanely hard niche techs.
Honestly, I disagree, because there’s really only 2 support characters that are beginner-friendly. That would be Mercy and Moira, but even then, trying to survive with Mercy can be difficult and knowing how to move with her well.
Lucio
Baptiste
Ana
Lifeweaver
Illari
Brigitte
Zenyatta
Kiriko
Aren’t very easy to play or their abilities you have to really understand to work out well.
But the hardest support heroes are easier than the hardest tank/dps characters.
But the easiest support heroes are also easier than the easiest dps/tank heroes.
For example Lucio is definetly more skillful than 90% of DPS but the point is that Support sa a whole is easier than the other roles.
I would count these heroes as easy though the rest of the ones you mentioned yeah they’re harder than alot of DPS like Torb/Bastion.
For support only. Hardest heroes I would put as this
Illari/Bapt for aim (that Illari nerf really hurt)
Lucio/Mercy for Mechanics
Lifeweaver for gamesense (more specific due to ability use rather than timing which you are right Tracer by far need the best timing sense)
In one sense I get it, but to be honest, if you’re playing DPS, your main concern is really just killing the other team by chain of priority or helping your supports / tank as needed.
But on the support end, you have that worry about your character’s abilities and making sure the team stays alive. So I get saying the characters might be easier, but I don’t know about the role as a whole. Because there’s just so much that can go wrong no matter which support you’re playing.
But I guess compared to tank, anything else might seem easier, because that role is just very hard in general.
