Both teams have the overpowered support but that doesn’t mean its the same difficulty because the enemy team has it too.
If Moira did 900/hps through walls and both teams can play it that doesn’t mean its the same difficulty as Widowmaker, things can be easy and unbalanced and be on both teams.
If you genuinely think support is the harder role I dare you to respond back here that Moira is harder than Widow or Tracer.
Or I dare you even to argue that Ana is harder than widow or tracer.
Or if we want to talk tank heroes all support heroes are easier than wrecking ball.
I encourage all you biased support players to make a new account for Widow and Wrecking ball and a new account for your best support hero and I garuntee you end up a higher rank on support because its easier and post back here on all 3 accounts.
I play all 3 roles regularly support is easiest my opinion.
I included Ana too unless you think she’s not one of the hardest supports but it doesn’t matter what support you mention because they’re all easier than tracer/widow
I’m a tank main but I play all 3 roles. I do not think support is easier than DPS. I really don’t. I kinda do think Tank might be the hardest role though.
That said, it’s all a moot point. When it comes to matchmaking and ranking up, you match and rank within the role. So, it’s impossible for an entire role to be boosted mathematically in role queue. Open queue is a different matter, but I don’t care about open queue. So, Robot Wizard is right.
Who cares? Players just want their egos fed with these topics. That includes Support players. I’m a Support main. Been maining Ana/Zen since OW1 release.
The Support role is the easiest to get value with. There’s nothing wrong with that. The only thing that matters is bringing value to your team.
I don’t think that having heroes who are mechanically demanding/have a high skill floor makes the damage role harder than the support role.
I’d argue that, in terms of challenge and responsibility, support is the harder role between Damage and Support. Tank is probably the hardest role. Damage would be, in terms of challenge and responsibility, the easiest role.
OP’s argument flips on its head when you use the same line of reasoning:
DPS is easy because I can just play Torbjorn and use his Turret to never miss and his Midigation ability to turn the tides in my favor. Meanwhile I have to land 100% of all my projectile shots on Zenyatta while having no Mobility or other personal buffs to help me survive an attack.
I base this on how much pressure I feel when playing any given role. On tank I feel immense pressure to perform. On DPS I feel significant pressure to perform.
On support I feel little to no pressure. I chill out and have a good time.
That is why for me, support is the easiest role to play.
I suspect a lot of players feel the same way without realizing this. There’s more support players than any other role. Why? Is it more fun? If so, why? Because you subconsciously feel less pressure maybe?
Torbs easier than Zen but Zen is easier than Widow/Tracer
Roles can have difficult heroes but that doesn’t mean the role is overall harder support has both the easiest heroes while not having any of the hardest heroes.
Hmm maybe it is different for some players depending the hero. I hover around 50-51 percent win rate with widow but that is all modes and not comp. With ana i only average 48-49 percent winrate
I have WAY MORE HOURS on widow compared to ana so
Now with moira and sombra i have 53 percent winrate all modes and i do feel those heroes are easier lol
ill say it like this. I used to play comp more, i dont so much now, but, I asked around, because there was nothing i could do to rank up out of bronze. so I decided to ask around, and this is what I was told: in order to rank up on a support character, you have to carry the team, every single game. As a support, you have to know where all of your team is, where all of the enemy team is. You have to keep track of all of the ult status of everyone on your team, and you have to be aware enough to know when the other team has used ults, and an idea to know when they might be having an ult come available. They said you had to be top heals, top dps, top kills, fewest deaths. And this is JUST to get out of bronze as a support.
Now, I dont know how it works with DPS or tanks, but for a supports, that seems like a LOT on their plate…so much that I dont think any support, in a competitive environment is “easy”…even if their character is powerful…they just simply have so much stuff they have to keep up with, that it makes them extremely challenging.
