Stuck in "Connecting to game servers" Loop

Same as you Klaithal. I came back after a few years to play Overwatch 2. I linked my steam account to play and everything is stuck. Probably should not have linked my account. Some say it causes issues.

I have the same issue as OP, I tried playing it through battle net launcher straight before trying steam (without ever linking steam account)

Through the battlenet launcher it was not a permanent loop as it put me to login screen that was asking for email/password after every cycle. but never let me in.

So it being a steam issue can probably be ruled out.

Just an update that for those who have the same issue as reported by OP and me (via comment), my third ticket looks like it may have some good progress. Huge shout out to GM Skaldenth for going the mile and replicating the issue with my account on their side, and the ticket is now with Dev. Once more clarity is known I’ll share this thread so that if others here do in fact have the same culprit that my account turns out to be, it may help a larger number of folks.

Just preaching to the choir here, but I have the same issue. To double check if it was just my account, I used my friend’s login details, and it worked just fine. I haven’t played since Overwatch 1.

If they haven’t automated with AI… they might as well, considering how generic and useless the responses are.

At least AI would read my ticket.

This issue is happening to me too… I haven’t played since 2016-2017 and its been 5 days and I can’t launch Overwatch on this account alone. Other accounts I can play Overwatch just fine. I do not have any restrictions as I have contacted Blizzard support and opened 10 tickets with no help.

This is weird because its an account specific issue not hardware issue and to proof it, here is what I tried:

  • Changed Email + Password
  • Used a VPN
  • Used a different PC + different internet
  • Told my friend (who lives in another country) to log into my account and play. Didn’t work
  • Added SMS
  • Added authenticator
  • Connected Steam
  • Connected Xbox
  • Tried different OS

All didn’t work

Keep in mind that any other account I log into it works just fine, except this one alone.
it is an Overwatch server side issue. I assume they messed up loading account cosmetics or information that’s why its loops connection after “Entering game”.

I sent this reply to the GMs in my support ticket, I hope you don’t mind, since they insisted the problem is with my ISP, and asked to be put in contact with GM Skaldenth since he.she seems like someone who wants to actually help

Fortunately, this morning I received a reply asking to try again as the team had resolved something they believed was contributing to the issue. It did resolve my issue! In my reply I included this thread in case the fix can help anybody else, and I hope these efforts help others to not have the login loop issue when all other local factors are ruled out.

Yes, they took the time to replicate the issue by logging in to the game using my account from their company workstation and experienced the same login loop issue. That provided the merit for involving the Dev team who ultimately identified the fix. It would be great if this turned out to be something that is universally applied and all of the identical issues resolved :slight_smile: Looks like it may have at least been the case for hrstyl.

Two months have passed and the same issue is still in my account, I don’t know what to do. Opening a ticket is useless, every time I get a response from a bot. I’ve tried to link the thread but nothing.
I give up at this point.
