Q times are in all-time low, but the quality of matches is non-existent.
Given that this is the first time Iâve seen a complaint about matchmaking, something must have changed recently. If you go back and look at old posts, you will see that the matchmaker has always functioned well and everyone has been satisfied with its performance. Too bad it recently changed.
Source on studies? Not doubting, just curious & want to read it
Discussed in interviews. Youâll have to ask them for the sources. But if they are checking match data itâll be based on hundreds of thousands of matches.
Not just some handpicked vox pop.
Itâs also in their interest to fix if itâs a game issue, seeing as people like to moan about it so much to the point theyâve referenced it in countless interviews. And theyâve tried with the respawn mechanics, the spawn swap button, Push as a mode. So if they are saying is a player issue, itâs a player issue.
People will say itâs match making. When the convenient truth is⌠Unless youâre at the extreme ends of the MMR distribution, youâve quite possibly never actually had a mismatched game, based purely on MMR numbers (which is basically all they use)
(People will say smurfs⌠But if they have the same MMR, thereâs nothing the game can do to the few people that do that. The match is fine, the player smurfing is at fault and should be blamed. )
i appriciate people ginving tips about not giving up but we are talking about unwinnable games. just one expample of many. yesterday push map enemy tank doomfist masters1, venture dps gm2. my tank is gold and i am plat. this game lastet 4-5 minute. our tank switched 3 times trying his best. i switched to torb didnt help. the doomfist and venture just dove in and killed all 5 of us again and again and again with almost no help needed from their teammates. these players where no smurf, public profiles. there is nothing any of us gold plat players could have done to win or learn from this. these games happen so frequently right now that i cant play more then 3-4qp games a day before giving up.
Just now after 9 losses I had a win and it felt unnatural, i just stood there in the backline as a torb doing nothing ( Tank was crashing everyone with juno+ana), barely taking 1st perk
Being hardly stomped for a few games in a row and then getting this win that you know you didnât deserveâŚuh
sad
Iâve pretty much stopped playing QP at all because of how bad the matchmaking is. At least thereâs a semblance of something going right in Diamond+ compâŚ
After the upcoming second round of hero bans is added (s16) there will I think be a lot more stomps in competitive
sad but true
as old as this game laddy and as boring an argument as it was 2016
Problem is: If so many of us experience loss streaks: including myself with 8-9 games losing streak every night, every single night, then others must win every game, so, it is balanced. I have got a 40 percent win-rate others must have 60âŚso it evens out in the end
Ask who? The devs?
This sadly stops being true where money and EOMM are concerned, ROI takes precedence in Blizzard execsâ eyes going by their past history. Itâs impossible to know how much rigging is happening (if any) with 100% certainty but the interviews are a good start.
Well, the audience did in the interviews. Hence the answers they gave.
OW doesnât use EOMM. It uses BP and gamble boxes for that. That deals with the ROI too.
100% certainty⌠None.
But, hear me out: Nobody, I iterate, nobody forces you or me to play this game, soooooâŚyou either stop playing this game or you stop feeling betrayed by it. I have decided, I take the many losses, stomps, tea-bags because all chat is muted as the only insult
My suggestionâŚbecause I agree with your observationâŚis that you try QP Open Queue.
Stomps still happen, but you get more balanced fights more often, because you can swap to a completely different role, if you find your team is lacking. Hate your suicidal tank? Go tank too.
Loses there also feel a bit less annoying (IMHO), because the team comps can be so screwy. You kind of know going all snipers, or supports, or whatever, should go poorly, but it can be fun to see if you can get it to work. And when you do, itâs kind of a crackup.
Because of the above, matches tend to be less âsameity same sameâ than role-queueâŚin my experience anyhoot. Your mileage may vary. I say give it a shot to see if you have a little more fun.
I was asking for the link to the interview you mentioned??
From my experience this is true, OW thankfully doesnât seem to have been polluted by EOMM yet. I only brought it up because large live service games sadly put more of their budget into monetization than game improvement nowadays, so just have to use the motive argument very carefully is all
Someone summarised one of them on here.
This might be the interview⌠I know he did a couple with them at least.

I maninly play OQ for this reasons - if you see that you lack shields, need more dps to break shield, or take care of pharah - you pick whoever you need.
But still the same issue, It is indeed more variable and you see totally different compositions from Lucio-Ana-Mercy-Brig-Rein to Mauga-Zarya-Ball-Hog-Bap ( god bless those people) but still ur facing just perfect opponents- they can take care of both your supps+dps+ avoid tank as a single hero, theyâre just better and you canât do anything about it
5 games in a row

Here is a better summary with time stamps. Around 1 hour 50 they talk about one-sided matches.
I hear thatâŚand end up there from time to time too.
I just use those moments to either try a new toon, try a new off angle, treat that game like an aim trainer (I need all the help I can get), and just have some fun.
You can also step back a little and watch where the other better team is placing themselves, or how they are grouping up. Iâve learned all kind of little tricks, or realized my mistakes by doing that.
yattayattayatta.
This seems to be happening for anyone that plays ranked in qp right now we always get paired with the lower elo players i guess to boost their stats against a higher elo team. I honestly dont understand this ratio at all but all of my ranked friends have def noticed it now we have just started warming up in arcade before comp now because I cant really play qp at all anymore when i have a team that has no cohesiveness against a team that is well oiled and sure shotted. I should read that reddit post it probably goes into more detail as my own analysis is only based off of what me and my 5 stack have seen
