The switch from sym to sombra should have helped him climb. Sym is the epitome of map dependent and that is solely to be a taxi. Sombra is super strong right now because of the ball sigma echo meta.
He’s proven that wrong, though, and he makes Symm work in almost every situation. Some of that can be credited to his teammates for a light carry, but other times, he really is just that good at her. He knows how to play around her counters, he knows how to flank/sneak up, positioning, target-priority, etc.
Sombra is much more team-reliant, so even Fitzy will swap off if he feels his team isn’t capitalizing enough with his Sombra play. I think Symm might be a tad more forgiving because your value can come from your own doing and not as reliant on your team capitalizing on your hacks.
It is an interesting question whether it is a bannable offense to “self boost” yourself. I suppose it can be as disruptive as a low rank player buying a boost into GM and messing up games and that can be reported if it’s proven that they were boosted. I’m kind of wavering now on if Stevo shouldn’t have been reported. I know Stevo should be brainier than to do this though.
I mean, technically speaking, if it is, anyone playing their off role in flex queue could be accused of doing this, even when it’s not their fault at all that they got placed so high.
its not the same though since stevo got to top 10 with his own skill and dedication and then decided to play for multiple days on what probably his worst hero in the same role.
But if you keep playing your worst hero in your off role from flex for multiple days and with it ruining many matches then its you that the problem, not the system
yea i can also seeing this would be “bad” in a way. i mean i off offtank in flex queue and maybe drop SR for trying but i never lost 1600 sr doing so and would immediately stop if i fell too much. still wish there was a definition of throwing tho from blizzard it is kinda vague and they have never said we could play an off hero we have no experience and drop in sr as much as we want even if we are not doing it deliberately
While I am Doomfist Bastion two trick and don’t think Stevo should’ve been banned, they shouldn’t have been inting T500 to Masters games on a hero they don’t know how to play. If you must, create an alt, or play in Open Queue for that. GetQuakedOn only really plays Doomfist in GM/T500, but plays Tracer Genji Echo in OQ.
That is exactly what he is saying, yes.
That’s why I think he deserved to the original ban (the one that wasn’t from him opening a custom-game to get people to report him so he can get auto-banned). I think he’s far too smart than to do something like this without knowing full-well that he’s dodging the matchmaker.
I know I’m gonna get “it’s okay in QP” arguments, but if you’re getting countered hard/killed at the spawn whole game, what are you going to learn? Yeah, I’m pretty sure the report window states “not switching” as something that is NOT reportable, but you should be aware if you’re not helping your team by one-tricking.
No, one-tricking is not bannable, even the one you have zero clue what to do, but it is a really jerk move to keep doing that when it’s obviously not working, no matter the mode. And I’m assuming you mean suspension from comp? Cause total suspension might be too much.
He went from T500 to diamond doing this. That’s a LOT of lost games. At a certain point teams are going to get frustrated when it feels like gameplay sabotage.
So go play QP until you “git gud” again. I know some people like to act like QP is the mdoe where you to clown off cause nothing matters, but I’m not gonna call anyone a thrower unless they stand still in front of enemy team there.
Guessing nobody knows? Steveo deranked to like what, 3.2k? Yeah, from 4500.
Hes throwing, there’s no two ways around it. He wasn’t banned for one tricking, he was banned for throwing every single game he played on his 1300 sr journey down.
And yet you think the proper thing for Steevo to do in this case would be to take a top 10 4600 SR player and send him in gold and plat on another account. About what, 2000+ sr below his actual level?
Cant forget how many players in GM own alt accounts can use their multiple accounts to increase the reports in a short amount of time.
Hmmm another good reason to limit alt accounts for artificially inflating reports.
thats another issue i have kinda. people here saying he should do it on his alt account which would be smurfing if you think about it. whos to say on that account he wont switch to his main if he gets fustrated and continue to roflstomp people on sym? instead of playing sombra?
so these same people would be saying its ok if you smurf at a lower elo but dont ruin my games with sombra at my GM level… again elitism
As much as I dislike t500s smurfing, Stevo’s Sombra skills would be an average of plat. He would have dropped to plat if he didn’t start playing Sym again.
So whatever he places on an alt account, would match his skill with those on his team. It would be different if he played Sym or Torb on an alt, because he knows how to play them.
But Sombra? Oof. He needs to practice, but not on a t500 account…
It’s so funny how many people have said this… Just like there’s no rule for smurfing there’s no rule for playing a different character on a high level account.
So funny that people’s answers are " just smurf 4head". It’s so hypocritical and ironic. (not calling you that just the answer as a whole, no offense to you or anyone else with this statement)
If he continued to play Sombra until he ultimately dropped, but just practiced on his main until he climbs again on the hero, it would probably be better.
But I mean, hopping onto a t500 placed account and playing a hero he isn’t good with was just a risk. Like, why not do that at the start of the season? Or why not practice in custom comp games? If not QP, he could set up scrims.
I mean he DID that before his one tricked her on his main and threw away 1500 sr. He took a new account and played Sombra on it and couldn’t hit GM with her. So then he went on his main 4600 sr account…and one tricked Sombra…to diamond.
So yes I would have preferred he stayed on his account that was an accurate SR for his Sombra gameplay
