He hasn’t been banned since 2017, where he was banned 9 times between November and December of that year.
This time he was banned for one tricking Sombra. Shortly after that ban ended, he was automatically banned again a couple hours later.
Stevo thinks that perhaps Blizzard employees were monitoring the reports on his account for the last three years and then suddenly stopped for some reason.
So I guess we’re back to banning one tricks again huh? It’ll only get worse from now on.
Reminder that one tricking is NOT a bannable offense. So why are one tricks still being banned in 2021?
i think at the gm level since its such a small community your more likely have the chance to get targeted and reported by tons of people since up there people are likely to be in large guilds/teams/or large like minded discord groups. so if it becomes popular to report someone everyone will do it especially to a streamer like steevo.
sucks to have to go through that. it maybe even happens in low ranks to a special unlucky few…
Stevo wasn’t banned for one tricking, he was banned for “learning” and “trying” Sombra in comp and losing so many games he fell from 4600 sr to diamond in like a week. That’s throwing no matter how you phrase it, and clearly he pissed off so many people on his descent into diamond that he built up a ton of reports. Losing 1600 sr in a week because you are one tricking a brand new hero is not justifiable. You’re ruining the games of everyone else on your team in the process.
He literally did this when Echo came out too and he decided to “one trick Echo” randomly and lost like 600 sr in a few days. I remember having him on my team after hearing on Twitter about how he’d been throwing people’s games and witnessing his stubborn and arrogant attitude in team chat for myself. Told us he wouldn’t swap at all because he “didn’t feel like it” even though he kept dying and feeding over and over and he knew he was throwing.
One tricking isn’t bannable. One tricking a hero you can’t play so badly “for fun” that you lose 1600 sr in a week and ruin everyone’s games should warrant a suspension. Just my opinion.
Edit: Just watched the video…He’s trying to blame Sombra’s viability for his losses? LOL
Fitzy and actual Sombra players don’t seem to have an issue w her. And even if she’s bad, that doesn’t warrant dropping over 1,000 sr in a week. Also…if you know she’s bad, and know you’re bad at her…stop one tricking her in people’s comp games?
I enjoy Stevo’s stream and him as a player generally but he’s known in the GM community for having a super poor attitude and doing stunts like this all the time. Even his chat talks about how he gets toxic af.
not to pick any side here but me just thinking of edge cases, wouldn’t someone who took like a long break from OW to the point that they got “out of touch” of their mains basically get the same effect on SR and would look the same to randos (i.e. look as if they’re learning a new hero playing so poorly) which’d also lead to false action for false reports?
tho I guess a more down to earth version of that example would be like: haven’t played an entire role for so long (e.g. dps; cause role queue and queue times) that they’re just really bad in that role now compared to before.
so your saying that to play, learn and try out another hero you should not do it in comp and should be punished if you do. i dont agree with that assessment since i know TONS of people in overwatch do it throughout ALL the ranks. this just proves that at the GM level people care more about thier precious rank than the enjoyment of others and should step back and think about what really matters
whats more important an imaginary SR number or should it be a game where we all come together to have fun and relieve ourselves of stress from our real life worries. if your saying it should be alright for low ranks to this and not the GM rank than your just proving that people up there are a bunch of elitist pricks
Yes and they shouldn’t play comp until they re-familiarize themselves w the game. I did this myself in Season 15 after being on hiatus for a few seasons and legit started falling into low masters, I forced myself to stop because it wasn’t fair to my teammates, went and grinded QP to sharpen up my mechanics and awareness, and then returned the next season. If I got suspended for a few days from comp I wouldn’t have been too angry tbh because I’d understand why people felt I was throwing. Because I was way out of my element and that wasn’t fair to my team at all.
There comes a point where you are self aware that whatever you are doing is causing you and your team to lose almost every game. Stevo knew him playing Sombra was doing this, he knew he could go Sym and win those games and stay/get back to top500. I know it’s a fine line but…idk
No I’m saying don’t go learn a new hero on a 4600 sr top10 account. Especially when you are a one trick of a hero that doesn’t require hitscan aim and then try to one trick a hitscan. That’s ridiculous.
And when you realize it’s causing you and your team to lose every game, maybe stop being stubborn and throwing everyone’s games.
No this proves people want to have fun and quality games where they don’t have someone on their team who has been losing/throwing so many games that they’ve lost 1600 sr in a week.
I know for a fact if you got someone on your team who had dropped 1600 sr in a week and was about to make you lose your game too you’d be rather irritated.
And he can’t do that…in QP?
Yet Stevo, the one knowingly losing so many games that he drops 1600 sr in a week, which is ruining the games for all of his teammates in those games, isn’t one? lol
How DARE people want to have a fair and quality game with competitive integrity where their teammates aren’t putting them at a huge disadvantage and refusing to help the team!
how do you learn a hero, in a quickplay game that has no stake at all or in HIGH STAKES game where the slightest mistake can cost the game. its actually better to learn in a harder scenario then to learn in some game where the outcome is skewed since its just quick play
he will derank and get out of everyones hair so they shouldnt worry, like i said the people who reported him are elitist pricks and im pretty sure losing one game aint the end of the world. they will rank back up if they have the capability to
the tragedy is this guy cant play his favorite game anymore just because he wanted to try something different. i can understand if he deliberately falls off a cliff or is toxic as hell. i can understand that kind of reasoing for someone getting banned
Doesnt Stevo do bronze/unranked to GM challenges all the time, how about he did unranked sombra only to GM and place where he belongs in the first place
The games of 5 people per match were made worse and lost enjoyment, for the enjoyment of 1 person trying to learn a hero
Learn it in Quick Play despite what people like to say its actually pretty good for learning new heroes to a decent level
You learn how to aim? You learn how their kit works? You learn how their interactions w other heroes work?
I learn new heroes and practice them in QP all the time before I go into comp. He’s GM, his QP games are high MMR too. QP games for us are pretty sweaty.
Also in the video he literally blames it on Sombra having a “bad winrate” and says she’s a bad hero…so he KNOWS the hero he is choosing to one trick is bad, and he also doesn’t know how to play her on top of it. Is he trying to be funny? To prove a point? Get viewers?
And ruin the games of tons of players on the way down two entire ranks.
So, he knew he couldnt play her at a gm level, had an account where he could actually learn it, and than still went into his main account to play it, amazing totally not throwing just banned for one tricking, unjust ban
i lose all the time it aint fun but thats the nature of the game. hell there are tons of games where i knew some guy wasnt playing the hero he wasnt familiar with or he just stinks in general. im not gonna report that guy. SURE ill be pissed and there are times where i voiced my displeasure but i wouldnt want to rob him of his game of overwatch
now if he was deliberately was throwing on purpose (afk in spawn, falling off a cliff… just pressing W) or being really toxic afk’ing typing crap i would report him in a second. i also would report a blatant cheater
i dont even report smurfs, yea i hate them but thats just the nature of competitive online gaming. what im saying is ITS just a GAME
isnt it crazy that OVERWATCH is the only game where you can get banned for playing a hero or character that you want to “try”
i dont think there is any other game that does this, like i said he was trying to learn he wasnt deliberately doing it to be malicous. sure he knew the outcome wasnt probably gonna be good and he would derank but this game you can get banned for that sorta thing and blizzard states that one-tricking shouldnt get you banned but the automated system does it for them
I watch a lot of his streams and tbh he was kinda throwing. Not intentionally but his Sombra game wasn’t good enough for the ranks he was in and after like the nth loss in a row it was painfully obvious to anyone watching.
