I would like to start at the bottom of the ranks. That way, i can work my way up and leave the throwers behind. Instead, as it is right now, i’m at 2150 or whatever and i receive players on my team who end up at 1400. Trust me, i add them as friends and view their profiles 3 days later.
Why should i be at 2150, getting teamed with players who CONSTANTLY drop to Bronze. I would rather start low, and leave them behind rather than have a steady stream of them in my “higher” ranked games.
It seems a lot of players want to be in Bronze for some reason, or just… belong there. Stop starting them in Gold. Gold means nothing then, if that’s where everyone starts.
It’d be like starting ALL Basketball players in College Big 10. Only to find out, wait, they belong in high school freshman basketball. Whoops. Sorry we ruined all your Big 10 games! har har har.
And yes, i realize this means pros start at the bottom too. They won’t be there long. If they are, then the system needs changing so people rank up faster.
they still get games with people who shouldn’t be there. their team or the other team, doesnt matter. they shouldn’t be there. is what is being said. it matters so that the time wasted is eliminated.
it makes way more sense for everyone to start at the bottom and then rank up quickly to match and then have it slow down to normal. like every other competitive ladder in existence.
I personally agree with this.
have everyone reset every season, have placements actually matter, have all the wild numbers happen behind the - or blank space until all 10 are done, and then boom you placed 2760 because you played at that level. now you’ll win and lose sr based on wins and losses only.
Apex mitigates the do poorly in placements to play against worse players thing by having the lower limit that blizzard just added this season for master players.
but if I rank platinum in apex, which I do, at the start of next season i’m in silver, with all of the other platinum players ranking up or down based on my games only.
I’m not started with players who never made it close to that.
the only way to mess up the apex ranking is to not play for a long time, or create a brand new account. you know how long my brand new account was played before it put me against people I would play against on my normal account? 2 games. the 3rd I was paired properly. Blizzard could do it, but theres no money in that system
So many players is complaining about smurfs. So you would really want to start all top players on new accounts to bronze? Them starting in plat and low dia is big enough issue on its own.
Except placement will not matter at all as every season will be pure chaos. You will never get close to proper matchmaking with current life span of season with reset.
If ladder will be reseted and everyone will start in bronze, it will take several months before players will be ± where they belong again. The players who play enough, it would be year+ for players who do not play that often.
And apex is very different kind of shooter game btw.
The point is, all the throwers who the game current starts out in gold, who end up in bronze, would just start there and stop ruining our games. There are plenty of them. I follow and see them daily. You don’t know that people would end up in the exact same rank if ALL the throwers were taken away and started in Bronze.
Doesn’t it also stand to reason then that a decent amount of players will also be at a lower rank then either they are at now or that they should be since this change would also make smurfing easier? Potentially leading to a lot more higher skilled players in low ranked games.
Yes. Because right now, they ruin games on the way down. The game needs to start everyone at the bottom, and for the 40% or so players left who even care to try and rank up should be able to. They would probably need to adjust PBSR so it’s stronger and people can escape simply by being Silver players.
The idea would be to stop everyone from throwing and ruining games across ALL ranks. And just stick them in Bronze where they want to be in the first place.
Edit: If smurfs want to smurf, they will smurf. This sticks them low to start with, and let’s players who are above Bronze skill rank up through heavier PBSR. While smurfs will just keep throwing to stay low, and ruin their OWN rank. Rather than everyone from Masters on down. They should not get to ruin the entire ladder because they’re throwing games.
Placement system surely need rework but starting everyone in bronze is not a way to go. Every new player should start in bronze. Players who already have accounts should start higher.
I think the matchmaker is and that’s the problem honestly.
the game balance is always a thing in any multiplayer game, but the matchmaking doesn’t have to be complicated…it just is.
My new account on overwatch placed me in the same area as my old one 11ish hours vs about 1500. and The beginning of each season CAN be pure chaos because what we have now is a lot of the time still chaos lol.
I don’t feel terrible getting destroyed if I can see
… oh this person was a top 500 last season, makes sense because i’m high plat and low diamond at my best. AND My games will still eventually balance, right?
Because right now it’s a fifty/fifty whether a new account is higher or lower than the starting point (whether by skill or by intent).
It adds a tremendous amount of inconsistency and noise to the most played rank.
Better to throw that noise to the bottom. Another reason: Trolling in Bronze is very easy because the population is tiny (like GM). This would boost the population size and make trolling down there much harder.
That makes sense, but maybe it shouldn’t. lol
I ended up there still after level 100.
Maybe what this person is missing and a lot of people are missing is, they didnt get to experience the positive effect of climbing successfully and never do each season.
if all of the work is being done behind the scenes and then all of a sudden i’m already in plat, if i’m below plat or in plat, i’m going to lose a lot before I do well, even if I was doing well.om say, quick play.
AND maybe Blizzard didnt understand that and it’s like the most frustrating thing.
If we are destined to be a specific elo, you don’t get to win.
That happens at Bronze Level only and rightly so because bronze is like 0 to 1500 you can only climb from there if you do better, but they would only lose to higher ranks the very first time those accounts play based on my previous comment.
if we started at the bottom, with a minimum like the top 500 got, the young ones in bronze would be safe from us oldies at the beginning of every season.
I say this: raise requirement level for new accounts to 50 to eliminate big portion of smurfs/boosters and account sellers. And then use qp stats for placing accounts together with 5 placement games.
