yea nice now fix mercy plz cya
So people who had less than 30 minutes on Mercy when Moth Meta happened were all not credible when they complained about her?
Blizzard, if the player-base does not like a specific buffed feature of a hero, in this case, Sombra’s Hack, wouldn’t it be much simpler and smarter to just revert that specific feature instead of coming up with some inane wholly-new nerf to it?
Just nerf Hack back to what it used to be, or even further if people do not like it, in addition to fixing the 0.1 seconds of unfair clipping through walls/invulnerability abilities.
The change that removed Sombra’s ability to gain ultimate charge from health-packs forces Sombra to play much more aggressively instead of just farming health-packs for EMP. Please consider the fact Sombra now relies on Hack much more.
If you’re in an awkward position when hacked, yeah it’s probably partially luck. Not every headshot is made intentionally, sometimes you get those miraculous quick flicks.
a hacked Tracer is the most vulnerable thing in this game, even more vulnerable than a hacked Mercy with her pistol out. Tracer has 150 hp and her damage isn’t high enough to kill Sombra before she gets killed herself.
Considering that statistics, streams, games, etc. ALL showed that Mercy was broken and was mandatory, you don’t really need to play the hero to know her.
With a hero that people are claiming is broken when EVERYTHING ELSE says otherwise? Yes, they’re less credible.
How about no? Give me the .8s hack time again. Let’s NOT do this 2s cooldown for a failed hack that can be interrupted by 0 damage from a D.Va across the map not even shooting at you.
For the exact same reason Mass Res was disabled in the spawn room.
Only bad players took advantage of it. But if they got lucky and did it right, they could win games because of it.
Likewise, normally it wouldn’t make a difference for Sombra. But those bad Sombra’s who did take advantage of the 0 penalty for getting interrupted and did get lucky with getting a hack out despite it normally being a bad idea, you can win fights because of it.
All that’s changing is now the bad players no longer have a crutch and actually need to consider who and when to hack now.
Many pros on their streams say Sombra is broken, so are they wrong? Personally I don’t think she’s op, but she was annoying and unfun to play against post buffs, and her hack speed and frequency felt imbalanced. This is one of the lightest nerfs they could have given really.
Disagree. I have absolutely no right to say what is and what isn’t good for a hero like Reaper or Soldier, characters I have next to no playtime on. I hate how fast Soldier can kill, but I’m not going to go out and say “He’s easy to play, no risk, easy value, needs nerfed, etc…” Because I DON’T play him and I don’t know how easy or difficult it can be.
For players that main and play Sombra a lot, we know what will and what won’t affect her a lot. This is one of the things that is going to SEVERELY hurt Sombra. Nerf hack speed back to 0.8 for all I care. Just none of this ‘damage cancel = cooldown’ BS. Especially when there’s not going to be anything else to compensate for this. Her winrate is low. Her pickrate is still low. Which means the team that has Sombra usually LOSES. She’s annoying to play against, I understand, I really do. But so are a plethora of other heroes like Junkrat, Tracer, Genji, Mercy, etc… They don’t need nerfed simply because they’re annoying.
The second change was all that was necessary at this point in time imo.
If you’re gonna look solely at anecdotal evidence, as Blizzard has done with this nerf, then the less time you have on her means your opinion is less credible. Mercy’s pickrate was nearly 100%, and teams playing without a Mercy were less likely to win STATISTICALLY. None of these things are true for Sombra currently.
This is Blizzard’s way of being sneaky and making a hero worthless. Buff hero so they are strong, nerf them into the dirt. See Doomfist/Mercy/Sombra.
this is entirely false, this is literally dependent on who has better tracking. Sombra deals more dmg over distance but tracer can easily walk around a corner because her default walking speed is faster than sombras so sombra has to be mid to close range to do something about it, and tracer does more dmg up close, whoever has better tracking wins. Sombra will get out of the situation alive 100% but that doesn’t mean she’ll kill tracer in a 1v1. If someone helps her then definitely
These changes seem fair and balanced without making her useless.
All 3 of those heroes are in fairly good spots right now.
They can absolutely be wrong. You know what a lot of pros would do when a Sombra showed up on their team pre-buff? They would flame them and grief them because they were picking an F-tier hero.
So how is it that suddenly, even when statistics don’t show it, that she’s “mandatory” and “broken” - when she’s still not being picked more.
And I don’t think you get it. Adding a cooldown to a failed hack is worse than hack was prior to her buffs. 1 damage interrupts it.
And Sombra’s hack just became garbage.
less than one percent pickrate. “good place”
Pretty disappointing. I had always loved playing Sombra, and dusted her off again when she started getting attention. This is my post in another thread:
My primary play time is on Moira, Zen, Sombra, and Reinhardt. I get to see all different angles of how Sombra interacts with a backline. I don’t personally think Sombra needs a nerf, though I wouldn’t be heartbroken if she lost the .1 sec leniency time on hack.
Yes, Sombra is going to give Rienhardt a tough time, but no, I do not think the hack is lacking “counterplay”. Sombra is a force to be reckoned with, yes. So are many other characters. These days, Sombra requires coordination and counter picking to deal with…just like many other characters. Once you dedicate heroes and attention to -dealing- with the enemy Sombra, she gets countered REAL hard, and you’re fighting 6v5. It’s not all that difficult to force a Sombra to switch off if you focus her.
Train your ears. Invest in a good headset. Turn and spray as soon as you hear her hacks or invisibility announcements, and she won’t be able to hack anyone.
Actually make the effort to land at least one point of damage and you’ll be surprised at how effective interrupting hacks with spammy tickle damage can be, if you aim with your ears instead of relying on vision. I think it’s actually really fun that Overwatch engages the use of multiple senses, and practicing them has tangible benefits.
You see plenty of visual based aiming exercises on Youtube, but never anything about relying on good sound gear to turn and fire based on audio cues alone. I think it would be an interesting and neglected avenue to explore, on a tangential note.
Mei, Winston, Moira, Symmetra, Tobjorn, another Sombra, even Junkrat can really ruin a Sombra’s day and negate any advantages to picking her.
This really does seem knee-jerk considering that’s it’s not as impossible to interrupt the hack as people make it seem. I’m an older guy with shaky hands and terrible vision, and she hasn’t become some unstoppable force, either when I’m playing AS her, or against her.
I’m not sure if this attempt at giving Sombra attention has actually been to her benefit. The spread is nice; she can do respectable damage at mid-range skirmishes. The disabling of passives is nice; Pharmercy is no longer unstoppable, and Lucio can’t stall out an objective for an entire respawn cycle. The faster hack -was- nice; you could reasonably defend your team against Tracer and Genji.
However, the lack of healthpack ult charge means that EMPs are more rare and valuable things, and now this silly CD on interruption means that her ability to chase off flankers or skirmish on the objective is rather diminished. I’m not convinced she’s better off than her untouched format.
I try not to be a reactionary that gets upset over every balance iteration, but I am extremely skeptical of this. It’s a bit of a tired meme that Genji and Tracer rule the roost and Blizz will never dethrone them, but this really does support that stereotype. The silly CD mechanic is much more useful for flankers dueling the Sombra than it ever would be for the tanks or supports trying to prevent themselves from getting hacked.
The fact that you said Doomfist is in a good place…
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
