Sombra death rate has ballooned to absurd levels

I don’t play much tank anymore but is hack really that bad? Other than for doom/ball lol. It’s only a 1 second silence. And if we add virus that’s a measley 75 DoT over 4 seconds to someone with more armor than most normal hp pools lol

Hack is more of an annoyance, it’s harder to pull off hack nowadays cause you just get shot and interrupted since you’re not invis

Well, if the vast majority of Tank players are on Rein.

And Hack = Lose Barrier

While you’re fully leveraged on you positioning, counting on that barrier.

Yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.

Because either

  • A. You die
  • B. Your teammate dies
  • C. Everybody forfeits their positioning

And asside from “Survive more so you can stand on objectives more”.

The main purpose of Tank is “Give your team a positioning advantage”.

With kinda the third, semi-mandatory/optional point being “Block enemy ultimates”.

So yeah…
That’s like asking if AntiNade is an issue for Tanks.

People knew how support was supposed to be played differently and identified issues with the game pretty quickly. Some flankers were too strong like genji with the dps passive, or tracer which was identified quickly. But it’s not like good support players didn’t know they had to take more duels even more than they did in ow1 with 1 less tank. Spilo has been making videos on this kind of thing since day 1 lol.

Sombra is the same way, it’s not like a month from now people will figure out a crazy different playstyle that will change how she’s played, at most people will identify she’s good enough to be an emp bot again and become meta that way

4% is not a lot

If you were already dying a lot, dying 4% more doesn’t matter

Also of course people are dying, they’re playing the character wrong. Of course they’re losing, they’re playing the character poorly. Give it time, it’s still been less than week!

Yeah, everyone blames the support players and, do not get me wrong, they were absolutely a SUBSTANTIAL part of the problem. Namely because they were not used to peeling for each other yet. That being said, EVERYONE got better at the game which made support less of a Dead by Daylight experience.

The issue in high ranks wasn’t flankers, it was uncontested dive tanks and dive playing very slightly differently as a whole. People weren’t used to super tanks so they didn’t trade properly and it left Ana/Zen/ other immobile support players to have to swap.

People don’t understand that Sombra isn’t a “lone wolf” hero, literally none of them are. Just because a Tracer flanks doesn’t mean they distract/initiate for their tank.

They don’t? I thought most people understood that. Any solo engage just gets you killed against basically any backline that’s how sombra has always been

So many gaslighters in this thread trying to pretend that Sombra hasn’t been tied to a chair, shot in the back of the head 3 times, had her feet incased in cement, and then been dumped into a deep trench in the ocean by the balance team. Partially to sell more widow skins, partially because terrible supports/dooms/hamsters with zero awareness complained about her being unfun to play against. Forgetting that a lot of support/doom/hamster/etc game mechanics are also unfun to play against.

My preferred method of correcting this would be a full revert and the person responsible shipped off to another department (janitor maybe). However that would be too sensible and this is Blizzard we’re talking about, going back on or admitting mistakes they’ve made is a once in a blue moon scenario.

Here are some things that could be added (not all) to help alleviate this travesty of justice.

  • Removing the delay in firing her gun and virus from stealth. Now that the clock is ticking and the enemy team know you have 5 or less seconds to do whatever you can do in that very short amount of time, the delay should be removed. You’ve already burnt your only escape to go on the offensive, why should you be punished even more for that.

  • Higher base damage from her SMG. Back when Sombra last had a similar play style with a very low invisibility timer, she could hack people and lock them out of their skills for a much longer period of time bringing them down to her level which is how she secured kills. One second is nothing, a pure interrupt (and most of the time not even that). Her base bullet damage needs to increase 10-20%. I’m happy for the health to stay low, but she has zero lethality in return for her low health currently.

  • A 2nd tp. This can be either a Genji style reset on kill, to reward someone for playing aggressively and risking death for a reward. Or having charges like blink/sym turrets etc. This way tp is actually useful for something other than an escape for front line brawler playstyle in this terrible rework.

  • An increase in movement speed while invisible. 5 seconds is not a lot of time for setup, she needs to move faster.

I’d personally rather see a tighter spread than a dmg buff

personally i have been dying “less” i think BUT my downtime in combat is less as well since im more careful.

so basically even tho im dying less im not in team fights often since im more concerned about getting in position or waiting for stealth while hiding in a corner lol

If true then it is completely deserved

You mean people having to change their playstyle entirely is resulting in people dying more while they figure it out? I am shocked… shocked… well not that shocked.

Pretty sure that was devs’ motivation for reworking old translocator. That Sombra was out of the fight for too long. Funny how it comes full circle.

i was good on setting it up since i played her so much. i wouldnt set up a translocator far away but close to where my team is at all times.

although i am sure there are tons of sombras that would have their translocator in the last point or 2 points or in the spawn lol

i also remember watching sombras that i went against always hacking health packs constantly so basically they would do that and have thier translocators miles away… was funny

The only solution I see is for all DPS players to only play Sombra to make others players aware of just how bad she is. I did this with Reinhardt when he was the worst tank in the game by miles a few seasons ago.

I must have played with a developer because I was throwing games left and right by just playing him when Orissa was the Meta and being used in 90% of matches. The next season they made Rein a lot better.

Thank you for your sacrifice.

im doing my part soldier

also I really do love how with sombra it’s a “wait and see if she’s actually secretly good” but for other reworks and new heroes it’s “well people don’t know how to play it so let’s just giga buff it and then nerf it in a couple weeks”. Just be honest and say you don’t wanna see sombra
