Sombra death rate has ballooned to absurd levels

In season 12 Sombra had a death rate of 8.19 which was second worst among dps, only behind pharah. In season 13 it has shot up to 8.54 which is not only the worst in the dps role but the worst in the entire game. This version of sombra is possible the worst we’ve ever seen a hero since OW2 launch. Even in GM she still has the worst death rate in the entire game. All this translates to a 45% winrate among all ranks (the worst) and a 41% winrate in GM (again the worst).

I think we’re at the point where anyone who claims Sombra is in an ok spot can just be outright ignored.

What if Sombra was spelled Sombruh?

That would be funny I think.

Can’t ignore Questron. That mustache will not be denied what its due.

I think he just wants to be a voice to the Sombra community to stay rational, not get whiney or emotional, work with what they’re given and try to be respectful. Plus he doesn’t want his own chat/community to be super toxic either, considering his job is playing Sombra. I watch him a bit when I can. He gets my prime sub.

I have to watch more gameplay before I have a real opinion. I already didn’t care much for playing her and this only made that more true. I think it’s a win/win as I don’t care to play DPS anyway.

Wait for people to learn her new playstyle.

Questron never said she’s good. He likes the direction of the changes away from perma stealth.

She’s in an adjustment period. People are discovering that they can’t play her the way they used to without being severely punished. I’m sure the number will go down as time goes on.

Im juat glad the moved sombra from spectator to dps. Its a welcome change.

Less than half a death more per whatever? Not exactly a big difference

She has a much, much higher skill floor now. People who relied on infinite invis to set up the ideal kill won’t be able to play her now.

It’s a big difference because dying is probably the worst thing that can happen in an objective based game. Her death rate went up about 4%. That 4% increase in death rate has lead to a 4% drop in winrate. So yeah…it kinda is a big difference.

Again dude.

  • Lethality + Mobility + SuckerPunch = Mortality💀

She’s supposed to get killed.

The part where she wasn’t was the design issue.

Eh, my death rate went up 300%-ish and the winrate is about the same if not better. Albeit, I used to play too defensive for my own good because I was afraid of dying. Now I just yolo and do what needs to be done.

You obviously weren’t playing with people that already knew how to play Sombra. She was one of a very few in the Flanker category. Flankers are intended to fight against Snipers. They need to group back up for a team fight and push from behind, making people face them instead

I’m fine with that. Part of why I liked her last rework is that it added more risk into her playstyle. But people think she is still a risk free hero. She has this super inflated mortality and for what? Is anyone more afraid of a Sombra in a 1v1 vs a Tracer or Genji?

To offset the Lethality, Mobility, and SuckerPunch style counterplay.

The idea that a hero should have all those, and also have an average death rate. Is wrong.

A Specialist, should not have the downsides of a Generalist.

No. I was referencing that she was always invis unless she chose to not be. One of the dumber implementations of the game.

Its also been just a week, not even a full week yet.

This short an interval of stats doesn’t reveal much other than time passing.

But don’t massively over exaggerate her lethality. Is she lethal? Yes. Is her lethality currently on a scale that matches the highest death rate in the game? Absolutely not.

I mean, LITERALLY it’s gotta be higher than average.

And there is a lot to be said about how this is a very different new playstyle,
and people haven’t wrapped their heads around it yet.

And that if you did zero changes, within a month, her death rate would go down by a large fraction.

There’s also a lot of people testing out the hero, who rarely ever play Sombra.
