I read numerous complaints from both Sombra players and Sombra haters, and I devised a variety of tweaks that I felt were both fair and reasonably balanced. And then I did none of those things. Instead, here’s the insane Sombra rework that nobody asked for.
WORKSHOP CODE: FBVD6
SOMBRA

ABILITIES:
REPLICATE
Sombra 3D scans an enemy, analyzing their appearance and moveset. Sombra’s tech then projects a hardlight hologram around her, giving her the visual representation of her enemy while she’s granted access to their kit for 6s (excluding the enemy’s ult).
Each completion of replicate yields 10% ult charge in addition to Sombra’s existing passive and combat charges. Once Sombra begins replicating an enemy, any currently deployed translocators of hers are destroyed. Any status effects Sombra inflicts or objects she deploys during replicate are destroyed upon the ability’s end.
Enemies are not debuffed by replicate and retain full access to their kits. Replicate casting can be interrupted by breaking LOS, leaving Sombra’s effective range (also achievable by knocking her back) or inflicting Sombra with an applicable status like stun or freeze.
HACK
Sombra continues to hack non-playable entities like B.O.B., immortality field, health packs, etc. Hack can be broken with the same rules that apply to replicate.
FIREWALL (PASSIVE)
Sombra’s defenses grant immunity against all forms of damage during her replicate or hack casting animations. Thus, replicate and hack casting cannot be broken by damaging Sombra.
OPPORTUNIST (PASSIVE)
Unchanged. Sombra continues to detect enemies below 50% health.
STEALTH
Sombra becomes invisible and experiences 175% movement speed for 4s. 6s CD.
TRANSLOCATOR
Sombra throws a translocator which remains available for use for a 20s duration. 3s CD.
INFECTION (ULTIMATE)
Sombra deploys a wave of nano-drones which infect all enemy heroes within a 10m radius. Infected targets are prohibited from using their primary or secondary fires for 5s, however they retain access to their abilities and ultimates (including any ultimates which rely on primary or secondary fires).
Notes:
The goal here was to allow Sombra to provide more value per time with less team reliance, while simultaneously making her feel less oppressive to play against. The new replicate ability turned out to have some wild applications beyond what I anticipated, so I removed the infinite durations of stealth and translocator to trim some power away from her survivability. Note that in the video, I’m demonstrating against easy mode bots, so Sombra’s new kit likely appears more powerful than it is.
This build is a starting point and likely needs tweaks.
