Like what? This is important. Rez is her signature item. It’s what makes her, her. Symmetra is a great premise to observe this from. Her first rework was rather poor, and they eventually reassigned her altogether.

Should Mercy be made a DPS too, with a totally new kit?

Everyone says scrap Rez, but what can be offered that is both unique to her and effective? We have Supports that provide shields, armor, anti-heal, debuffs, and CC. Not to mention what future Supports will provide.

I see the argument that Mercy without Resurrect wouldn’t be Mercy anymore and her lore would have to be changed as well. Except the rest of her kit is quite good, until they nerfed her HPS. She has massive mobility, and used to possess a lot of sustain for her team.

By “redistribute” I mean, give her back her 60hp/s and give her a new E-ability that’s not as insanenly difficult to balance as Resurrect. Possibly a new ultimate as well. I offered ideas for that above. Whether or not they’re good I cannot say. But I like the idea of them, how they’d feel to play, a lot better than what we currently have. They’re not even my own ideas, I read them somewhere and liked them.

They broke the original Mass Rez. All of the balancing regarding it was to allow Mercy to survive throughout the Rez. Valkyrie I believe was meant to offer Mercy a new dynamic style that allowed her to be more flexible while offering periodic Rez’s. But it no longer does this. It’s been hollowed out. It lacks purpose currently. All it literally does is enhance her normal abilities, that used to be baseline, with flight. You can argue Battle Mercy, but I sincerely doubt that is what the Ult was really meant for. The Rez feature and her Ult are no longer tied, like it was before.

I can only agree with you here, the synergy that Valkyrie and Resurrect used to have and were intended to have, has been removed without compensating in any way.

I played some Comp games with Mercy today. I was losing rather badly, until I eventually went Ana. Mercy currently cannot offer sufficient sustain to her team when under heavy pressure, unlike previous times. Triage is nearly ineffective. It takes too long to heal people to cycle from one to the next.

I feel your pain, I had the same experience this season. I’m “lucky” that Mercy is only my second favourite character to play as, so I always happily play Moira if I have the chance or Mercy doesn’t work out.

Mass Rez was not nearly as much of an issue as people make it seem. Perhaps they live in the 2017 era. Nonetheless, there were things that could’ve be done to Mass Rez to allow it to be effective, safe for Mercy, and at the same time not deny the enemy’s effort of team-kills (Less HP upon Rez, skill cooldowns, no longer regaining Ults, etc). Any of those would decrease the “comeback” potential of the enemy as they’d be disadvantage in a fight. For Mercy, make her receive less damage during Rez, and small cast time with LoS. Many things to decrease it’s overall value, but still retain it’s ability to shake things up. It can be done.

I think so too. A lot of people do, apparently. But I doubt we’ll get it back. That’s why I’m actively advocating to remove resurrect altogether to hopefully finally make Mercy fun again in some other way. Because I also think that can be done, possibly more easily than trying to get them to revert back to mass rez (with changes).
