I highly doubt so knowing how completely oblivious the devs have been regarding OW since the release days. Can’t wait to see what the queue times will be after Mauga releases though

Thank you. I don’t have permits here because I used swear words or something at some point

IIRC they said the next heroes are 1 tank and 2 supports right? The more play styles are available the more likely someone is to identify with one of them.
QP queues have consistently been really good for me. Comp has indeed gotten longer, but it still doesn’t have Kiriko. The tank queues are still within acceptable levels to me.
They will never get better. Nothing will ever be equally popular. The least popular role will be a bottleneck no matter what it is.
Buff supports to destroy dps, support queue blows up, dps becomes bottleneck.
What if they buff supports to actually support instead of becoming poor man’s dps?

Crazy idea, but if there were a 6v6 queue that might actually help the other queues. Twice as many tank players are needed there.

You would have to go a long way to make the DPS the bottleneck, but they could try to even it up a bit more.

If they cant kill tanks or dps they will stay the bottleneck, regardless of how well the balance is.
They were fine in OW1. They were a bottleneck in OW1.
question could…it literally just be that noon (plus or minus one hour) during the week may…lengthen the queues? I have played all day and from what i can tell, American queue times seem fine.
Not really a crazy idea. I think that this is sincerely a great observation. We already have different formats in the Arcade “splitting” the playerbase so having a legacy 6v6 format wouldn’t be bad while the tank buddies could go there. You could even easily balance the gamemode out by copypasting the state of heroes from the last OW1 patch there and leaving it at that considering how small the differences between heroes got over 6 years and the gamemode being casual
I would pay real cash money to have this feature in the game and I think it’d actually help the queue times by removing legacy tank lovers from the 5v5 format queues
Don’t know what their plan is but, I literally left a comp match yesterday because I just couldn’t take it. For the very first time, ever. After 4 games yesterday I hated the game, I hated myself for playing it and I hated everyone - even some on my team included. I felt absolutely awful for the tank in my team that was being bullied by Orisa, there was nothing I could do to help him. He was a trooper though and just kept respawning like a champ. But, after being dived by the 1 millionth Genji of the day on super steroid speed, I just had enough and left after apologizing. I’ve not gone back to comp yet and I don’t see myself going back to playing comp support until either issues are fixed or I’ll just keep my plan of uninstalling the game and call it a day. So, I guess I’m not helping the “problem”.

That happenned in OW1 because you needed insane amounts of dps to counter the barriers and you would always feel like a monkey watching your teammates dealing 0 damage. Now that there is a tank less, I think supports will feel rewarding enought if they put the healing they did in OW1.

They should add another tank which would lower tank queues, they could call it the ‘offtank’. They would help peel for the supports which would make the support role more fun to play and less like punching yourself in the balls over and over again. With one more tank they would not have to have the single tank be pretty much unkillable, this will mean the tanks will have a reason to fight each other and not just run straight at the backline. I think 2-2-2 could be the magic number for a team based hero shooter with three lanes, I wonder why no one had thought of this before.

Throwing my hat in the ring here on this show. If only there was some way, something to stop characters like Winston, Dva, Genji, Reaper, Tracer, and a bunch of other heroes from jumping into the backline and hyperfixating on support players. Some sort of disabling tools, some kind of tool to help support escape situations that would be otherwise unavoidable if not require extremely high amounts of what miniscule mobility supports have to escape the situation which may or may not help them actually deal with the problem. Some sort of… I dunno, crowd control? Is that a thing? Something to stop the enemy reaper from just teleporting in and screaming “PIE! PIE! PIE!” It’s almost like the game was made with the ability to stop people in mind, but I for the life of me as a non-developer who clearly doesn’t know how to play the role of support despite my nearly 200 hours (casual player, sue me) of support, don’t know what could be missing. If only they added in some kind of ability that gives me space, and allows me to deal with the issue of a genji/reaper/tracer/hanzo/sombra/dva/winston/rein of getting behind my team and guaranteeing my death only to be left bereted by not just my team, but the OW forums for “not healing” when I get farmed and reset back to spawn seven times in a row.
Just MAYBE the developers could think of some way to give me a little more power in saying “no, I don’t want to guarantee die for the n-teenth time in a row to the same Genji that my team is clearly ignoring despite his nano’d ultimate blade becoming their brand new adult toy.” Like I said, maybe some form of… I dunno, disable, or I guess a cool new term for it would be crowd control. Maybe the community would like this idea, thoughts? What if instead of always having to say “crowd control” we could say “CC” instead.
Edit: It might’ve gotten lost in the sea of sarcasm, but support roles are awful to play right now because of all the dive/flank that guarantees their death unless they scream into the mic “REAPER BEHIND, HELP ME PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU” and even then they’ve got a 97% chance of death unless it’s some kind of CC-equipped player coming in to help. Fix the problem of support being so woefully targeted as free kills, and plenty of people would play it… after we talk about the hotdog water ice cubes in the Blizzard offices known as their current monetization.

I also wonder if the perceived weakness of Mercy is hurting queue times. Mercy is super popular. I think they mentioned they were going to add another “pure” healer like Mercy which would be a good idea, since the last few have been combat oriented and not everybody likes that.
I’d also like to see better flex queue incentives. F2P players don’t care about battle pass XP at all currently, so put better stuff on the free track so they have a reason to flex. Also, I think choosing flex should guarantee you an even chance for every role with the fast queue times. So 1/3 of your games are support, but 2/3 of the time you get priority queueing into tank or DPS.

I think its a broader issue… Its not about how supports arent fun to play.
Its OW2’s existence as a whole. It just isnt enough to bring back all those millions of players who left. 5v5 with a supertank is not enough to revive OW.
OW’s strengh was to be an fps that didnt fully cattered to seasoned fps players, but as time went on Blizzard started to dream about having their e-sport (still bitter about Dota2 right blizz?) and OW was morphed into something else to catter for all the ultra-competitive and sweaty/tryhard players.
Now it all about the “skillz”, the game had more than just mobility and damage but this is all OW2 is now. DPS players want to roam free on the map without punishment, it is no wonder that Moira is the most hated support from dps player, (she can escape/fight back)
Whatever Blizzard want to do with OW “2” just wasnt enough to bring back OW to its former glory. Blizzard did strike gold on 2016, there were some things to iron out but the game was amazing and fun. Now it feels hollow, and it seems to be all about following Blizzard OWL’s obsession and listening to whiny dps players to remove anything that poses an obstacle to them.
This is the result. OW2’s launch barely made the news and now one week later… it feels already forgotten.

I would like to point out that we’ve been here before. Changes made to cater to the DPS/FPS crowd, everyone says “Yeah! This will fix overwatch!” and then when we get those changes everyone seems to hate the game more.
We really should have tried buffing shield counters before we dove into 5v5.

The primary issue is instead of making a new damned game they balance patched an old game and thus inherited a rehash of all of the old game’s problems except arguably worse. Six years from now it’s still going to be OW 1.5 with X new maps, X new heroes and an entirely siloed PVE campaign.
Outlaws was the poster child for this.
And now it is gone.
Then you play support get camped by Genji sombra reaper while teams flames you for not healing cuz u can’t get back to them. Support is kinda cancer atm.
