But… The breast plates… Like we both just snorted
I get femme fatale and such but … All I can think of is the producers pretzel girl. Like… All I see is that widow went out topless and someone was like “wait! The hays code!” And stuck some post its on her in a rush.
I’m so sorry. I really like the ow2 stuff from what I am seeing but… The widow outfit has me cackling
The hair actually bothers me the most.
Not the braided braid itself, but the position where it starts.
I hope Blizzard will change this position to a similar one to the current skin (the better skin in my eyes).
It currently looks like the braid is simply glued to the top of her head.
Then the visor, the color doesn’t match the design at all. (Way too bright)
The suit, which looks cheap, especially in the chest area, and the color palette or the color distribution are also quite boring.
It rarely happens, but sometimes the concepts are better than the finished product. A while ago at the Lamborghini Urus, now with Widowmaker. (Even if Widow’s concept drawings could still use some fine-tuning.)
What bothers me is it’s barely even a redesign. All they did was just add plates and call it a day. I was hoping for something more Idk something that suits her character

Agreed! Rein and mercy seem to be the best redesigns but widow was one of the worst for her outfit.

I like the Reaper one with the more silver.
They managed to make him even edgier wihout making him goofier.
With the new armor he seems to be truly worthy of these 250 hp.
I also like his pants.
his new outfit looks better than the old yea, with widow i still like her default one better than the ow2. its not bad but the default is still better imo
yea looked up hays code something about hollywood censorship heh. with widow they do try for that sexy revealing look but they can only go so far since yea blizzard is more of a disney type company. except for diablo
Reaper was okay. Same with mei. I think it’s hard for reaper to read older without his face showing but I think I might have changed his model a bit more or something to help.
I like Pharah’s the best so far. Maybe I’m just weak for Blue/White/Gold color schemes, but I think her new suit looks great. Largely the same with a few bells and whistles here and there, but real nice stuff.
I play a lot of Widow, and while I think that the new outfit will take a while to get used to… keep in mind that it was mentioned that all of the previously owned skins will be available in OW2… hopefully this includes her classic skin as we know it today.
The new style / hair is definitely going to get a little getting used to, but at the same time, it’s a new / fresh direction. Hopefully with the ability to access classic skins, there will be something for all players.
For sure. I feel the same way, but I’m not sure if it’s just something to get used to. I thought some of the other images that were previewed in the concept art clip was good. After some reflection, I agree that it’s primarily the new hair style / braid.
Hair in Overwatch, especially Widows, isn’t that hard to do.
It’s a mesh (which is probably the hardest thing to make) with a single row of bones for animation / physics and a simple texture and weight paint.
It is not a hair simulation like in “realistic” worlds like Tomb Raider, Witcher 3, Horzion Zero Dawn or animation programs like Blender and others, where, in part, every single hair is simulated.
Overwatch is not a parade example when it comes to physics on skins.
many Mercy Skins have a clearly visible edge between the static and dynamic parts of the back loincloth. It is most evident on the dragon skin.
I’m just going off of what I see. Between sombra practically balding and lucio and baptiste having weird connections, I just figure hair is out of the skill set or ability. Basically relying on like…hair helmets but I don’t know
I am actually mostly happy they did not overdo it on the designs. My greatest fear when I heard them talking about redesigning was that they were going to fall into that trap where they feel like they have to addon stuff and it makes the overall design into a mess. Many a game has characters that look someone started drawing them and did not stop until about an hour after they should have.
I don’t mind the designs overall. Just widows sticky note boob plates make me laugh. They could have literally just changed her hair and I would’ve have been like …cool.
But settling in the pretzle girl outfit… I’m gonna laugh
What we saw wasn’t finalized, but I assume what we saw is a 70%-ish done version. I really loved her braid too. I also love that they put the braid’s start higher up to accommodate for any visors that might wrap around her head. It’d be silly to have a visor on her head with a ponytail hole in the back of it…
Her outfit nicer than her current outfit. It seems like even the most basic Heroes get some upgrades to buckles, straps, accessories, and plates. Her outfit is still an absurd LOOKIT DEM TTS, MMM MMM~! But isn’t as boring as a skintight suit without much else going on… Like… Sorry, sis… Only Bayonetta can pull off the skintight suit.
