An experiment which was phenomenally unpopular.
Not with the way current Battlefield isâŚ
speaking about this, im kinda sad
i tried to use the new add to health pool option, putting in temporary shields and noticed they still give ult charge
No, it wonât. all you would see is actual tank and support players leaving. Tank and support players, with the exception of hogs, most balls and reddit lucios and zens want to tank and want to support.
Taking away the healing and the tanking will make these characters shells of their former selves and absolutely dreadful to play.
And after that shock wears off? Youâre left with a bunch of unhappy players, snipers running wild and the game overall being a shell of its former self. You could have a much healthier and more fun experience by actually making multiple tank lines viable (dive, brawl, double barrier, bunker) which would be quite the change for the game.
If you take away tanks ability to tank and a supports ability to support your no longer playing overwatch as far as Iâm concerned, youâre playing CoD - overwatch cosmetic pack
To balance the game ALL DAMAGE and healing needs to be lowered. Tanks do not feel like tanks right now. DPS players need to make a reality check when they think that a damage buff is the best thing to do in a game where the TTK is so lowâŚ
I donât think any form of fundamental changes to mechanics will bring in tanks.
Thereâs another thread that some fellow xbox players and I talked in today about how tanks arenât an issue on XboxâŚsupport is the lowest played role. And overall the Xbox and console platforms have a smaller margin which allows us to play dps more often than pc.
Is it an issue? Yes. But it shows that itâs a social trend and not mechanic one.
You canât make it more popular without people just. Liking. The . Hero.
Canât do it. doesnât work. Not for an individual hero a la symm or sombra âŚand least of all an entire role.
I think just a net overhaul and drop of tanks and support is the better direction. 321 or 411 will allow the roles to exist âŚand appeal to those already in them
Because dps ainât movin
By what measure? Everyone I saw liked the idea and was just pissed that essentially only 2.5 balance changes were made. I mean ⌠You make 321 with no buffs to 5/8 tanks and none of the supports?
Thatâs the issue. Not the experiment. I still see people asking for it back
âFPSâ doesnât mean âDPSâ.
Though my guess is that they are planning to make the game less reliant on CC and stuns and make the game less team reliant
Well thatâs the issue. Most of the support players Iâve heard and met have said they hate playing Moira because she is boring to play. When Moira becomes meta, a lot of support players do get rather upset because they donât like being stuck in âMoira jailâ because sheâs not a very enjoyable hero to play and so some end up quitting causing queue times to go up even more.
So, to help make it so Moira can be meta without people being super upset, theyâre trying to make her more rewarding.
And they said the same for symm and sombra etcâŚ
People donât like things. It happens. But Moira isnât getting Moira changes like Lucio got Lucio changes. And Lucioâs changes didnât get him new Lucio players en masse. It just changed him.
All youâre getting are people who donât play a hero giving irrelevant opinions because they wonât . Play. Them.
Just wonât.
And if you already like a heroâŚyouâre fine
Players respond way too heavily to meta/gameplay changes for me to believe character designs are anything more than a slight impact.
Hog & Hammond are, and DPS players dont mind them to the point that they play as them. Theyâd play as a shieldless DVA that has auto-shotguns that arent garbage.
Because heâs barrier is still decent, its more like he used because he has to be, or else the team doesnt have good defense. Heâs not fun to play, not when just one DPS can handle him, he gets CCâd to death, and always needs to be pocketed by Mercy.
They are. Specifically, they hate getting a taste of their own medicine. Which, theyâd have to get used to when everyone becomes DPS, because everyone would be at the same powerful level.
It hasnt been that since old OW, and it will never be that again. Not even as an Arcade mode at the very least.
That is the case, all because of Blizzardâs DPS favoritism. No one wants to play Tank or Healer, unless the character is just a DPS.
I see Ana is one of your top picks. Sheâs been a DPS since her damage nerf. Sheâs not screwed into being an easy, defenseless target that can only heal like Mercy. She uses a sniper rifle, kills in 3 hits, that anti-nade is useful for elims & that dart hands free kills.
The barrier makes using him a chore. Youâre practically obligated to have a shield up at all times. Which wouldnt be an issue if barriers were never nerfed. Reinâs job at defense sucks now.
Also, what tankiness? Heâs not like Hog & Hammond. He cant heal himself, he doesnt have an adaptive shield. He dies way too fast solo.
Take away the Tank burden, and heâd be a melee monster. Jeez, his animated short is funny now, it called out players that rush in & dont put a shield up. But running & slashing is the only way Rein can be powerful solo.
No, delusional. Echo being another DPS instead of a Healer, killed that hope.
I get the idea but Overwatchâs gunplay and movement isnât interesting enough to sell itself as a FPS game.
Because people were fine with Lucio and his kit. He didnât need some big change.
People arenât fine with how Moira is. Thatâs why theyâre changing her. They want it so she can be meta/viable without a lot people getting upset
The biggest problem in OW about MOBA elements, actually, is stacking utilities and rotating their CDâs, the âdenying killsâ or âsurvivalâ utilities mostly.
Letâs get started then shall we.
- Ammo limits.
All characters in FPS carry a certain amount of ammo, then they run out. If this isnât respected, then thereâs issues with continuity. - Barriers.
People always hide behind barriers IRL. We have serious issues when trying to stand in the open, due to being full of blood and squishy dead-inducing parts when shot. We hide and peek fire, throw grenades, or simply fire a rocket at a position. - Healing
We donât heal on the battlefield. We simply die or are dragged off to a hospital. - Tanks fire high damage long range explosives.
Tanks in Overwatch literally bash through the front door with their stubby close range attacks. Itâs contradictory to reality.
And thats why im happy being on the edge of deleting this game from my pc. Just pew pew games are to boring for me.
I heavily disagree . This is why ladder masters down is often meta immune.
If Lucio was reverted tomorrowâŚitâs a significant change.
YeahâŚpeople who donât like to play her
Thereâs a difference between meta and viable. Moira has always been viable. Sheâs only been meta since 222. If itâs viable, sheâs fine. And you tweak. If itâs metaâŚwell imo thatâs a bad direction for any hero
Where did you get âeveryone becomes DPSâ from?
Sure, but itâs not one that significantly changes how heâs played.
YeahâŚ
The point is to make her more enjoyable for people so that people arenât upset when sheâs a top pick and so more player play support because more support players means shorter queue times
What about the first 2 years of OW where supports were all about utility, not at all about how much healing they have.
The pros were running Zen and Luico for a very long time.
They just have different metas.
I.e. Junkrat and Torb meta in Bronze.
Itâs just different âpaths of least resistanceâ towards a win.
Junkrat always works to shut down enemy tanks. Just matters less when Widowmaker takes his head off for peeking.
