Beeftipsy summed it up:

“ the amount of people in the overwatch community that try to come off as heroes in the public eye but behind the scenes are fake and toxic as **** is unreal, be careful about who you make friends with”

Whole lotta people in this thread that are clearly upset about gay characters or characters being renamed, pretending like they actually care about discrimination at Blizzard so people will join them in their anger.

Remember kids, Blizzard started to become a more minority-friendly company when all the abusers started leaving. Mike Morhaime turned a blind eye to the frat-boy culture for years while also shunning the LGBT community. Things started to improve and the poor culture is starting to be corrected now that the OGs are leaving. The things the angry gamerbros in this thread don’t like (like gay characters and renaming of characters named after abusers) are driven by the people doing the right things and those that want change.

Inb4 angry gamer rage.

Now, having said all that, hopefully the California lawsuit is the kick in the pants Activision-Blizzard needs to get this crap sorted once and for all. Hopefully, 5 years from now, they can be an example for the rest of the gaming/tech industry. There are so many other companies that need to clear house in the same way Activision-Blizzard currently are.

Hopefully, the other outcome from this is some actual decent laws protection women and minorities from discrimination in the state of California.

Activision owns Blizzard,

Activision didn’t develop Fallout 76 though

This is a game, it can be whatever designers want it to be. It does not need to be connected or represent something from real life. So why does an online game need to represent minorities (any minority) within it’s service? To avoid being called as discrimination? Really?

No, but it was also extremely convenient for them.

I keep telling this to people but the Blizzard of old keeps blinding them to the realization that at this point in time Blizzard is a contender for the worst company in America. I dare you to name a company that treats its employee’s worse than Blizzard. You have to really dig to find some.

No reason to protect this company anymore, it doesn’t deserve it.

Let’s say that’s true. So what? People buying skins in a game they play doesn’t make Blizzard a better company. Is this comment even meant to be saying something?

Heey. I also watch Angry Joe, love his videos!

So what many consider one of if not the worst company in terms of employee treatment MIGHT be worse than Blizzard? Blizzard really outdoing itself .

So what? You can support Blizzard all you want and buy their precious little skins but then don’t start crying whenever they do something bad. You’re supporting it and you’re enabling it. You can spend your money on whatever you want, but you lose the right to be disgusted by a company you’re still supporting. It’s called hypocrisy.

How can you be angry at something while still choosing to support the company that caused it? Don’t expect a company to change unless you force them to, clearly you have no intentions of doing that.

Welp time to quit Overwatch again.

I now also see why Jeff left so abruptly. He knew it was gonna hit the fan.

Wait hold on that was me

AND I’LL DO IT AGAIN!

sometimes I ask myself, what would aaron keller do

There’s no ethical consumption in capitalism. People playing the game doesn’t mean they don’t want the rule of law to come crushing down on them.

There’s a difference between playing the game and spending money on cosmetics. People may still choose to play the game because they find it fun, but choose not to actively support Blizzard by giving them anymore money.

Not really, playing the game is still technically supporting it. Also this still doesn’t change the fact that it’s irrelevant to the question at hand, and completely out of place. Someone shares a story about the company and you reply with “but cosmetics” like what does that even have to do with anything. You don’t even know if literally anyone who’s talking about these events have spent a dime on the game since 2016.

Yea, turns out their garbage attitude and arrogance towards customers were something deeply rooted within the the culture of the whole place as well. Who knew such arrogance could ever be so present in a business at all. Honestly I am surprised they have not gone out of business… but I guess that speaks volumes of the quality of the games they once produced.
